Clinton Urges China to Keep Buying U.S. Debt

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Sunday urged China to keep buying US debt as she wrapped up her first overseas trip, during which she agreed to work closely with Beijing on the financial crisis.

Clinton made the plea shortly before leaving China, the final stop on a four-nation Asian tour that also took her to Japan, Indonesia and South Korea, where she worked the crowds to try to restore America’s standing abroad.
In Beijing, she called on authorities in Beijing to continue buying US Treasuries, saying it would help jumpstart the flagging US economy and stimulate imports of Chinese goods.
“By continuing to support American Treasury instruments the Chinese are recognising our interconnection. We are truly going to rise or fall together,” Clinton said at the US embassy here.
Clinton had sought to focus on economic and environmental issues in Beijing, saying Washington’s concerns about the human rights situation in China should not be a distraction from those vital matters.
Beijing’s human rights record emerged nonetheless as an issue, as Chinese activists on Saturday reported being harassed or intimidated by Chinese authorities in a bid to stop them speaking out or meeting Clinton while she was here.
“Plainclothes police blocked me from leaving my home. They were afraid I would try to meet with Hillary Clinton or others in her delegation,” democracy campaigner Jiang Qisheng told AFP by phone on Sunday.
Clinton and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi largely agreed to disagree on human rights as they pledged future joint action on the economy and climate change.

WORSE OF MY ASS! Their GDP has been growing at like 9% a year not to mention an increase in auto-sales of 49% year-over-year. Based on their one-child-per-household policy they have around 400 million households,more than the entire U.S. population. That means doe-doe brain each one of those households decides to purchase a “furnished” place to live,at a very cheap construction cost of $10,000, & vehicle to drive,at $5,000 each, then China has a big-ticket item demand of more than $6 Trillion. I should also point out that China has turned into a manufacturing economy which is why 1.3 billion Chinese are in a buying mood & the gov’t told the banks to “start lending money”. Did I forget to mention the China-Africa summit? That means 1.3 billion Chinese have been doing business with about 900 million Africans for the last few years.

The only thing letting them continue buying up our debt will do, is increase the amount of foreign takeover they’ll be interested in once the gov’t decides to sell of infrastructure to pay off the debt. It’ll be like a crack addict (or free worthless money addict) selling off his home.

Some people and some parts of China are well off, most are still not. About 70% of China is still dirt poor. They are in this with us. As the United States purchasing power to buy their Made in China goods goes away, so does at least a good chunk of their manufacturing. The rest of the world’s purchasing won’t make up for our lack of. They will fall with us economically. Military is a different issue.

I dont believe the leaders of China would be that reckless either; unless they have a strong out on the backside of a deal. The whole World has been witness to American deception going back decades from wars, corruptions, theft..you name it.
It is the American politicians that passed legislation to allow American corporations to go abroad and do business and not the general Chinese population. The same American politicians that passed laws for offshoring so as to combat taxation. If China stopped funding America, it may force things for the better in the long run so as to not be so needy on other parts of the world. The rest of the world can do just fine with no US..the US needs the rest of the World. But I believe this too is part of an agenda for the World Nobelists.
