CNN Meteorologist: Manmade Global Warming Theory ‘Arrogant’

Unprecedented snow in Las Vegas has some scratching their heads – how can there be global warming with this unusual cold and snowy weather?
CNN Meteorologist Chad Myers had never bought into the notion that man can alter the climate and the Vegas snowstorm didn’t impact his opinion. Myers, an American Meteorological Society certified meteorologist, explained on CNN’s Dec. 18 “Lou Dobbs Tonight” that the whole idea is arrogant and mankind was in danger of dying from other natural events more so than global warming.
“You know, to think that we could affect weather all that much is pretty arrogant,” Myers said. “Mother Nature is so big, the world is so big, the oceans are so big – I think we’re going to die from a lack of fresh water or we’re going to die from ocean acidification before we die from global warming, for sure.”

Myers is the second CNN meteorologist to challenge the global warming conventions common in the media. He also said trying to determine patterns occurring in the climate would be difficult based on such a short span.
“But this is like, you know you said – in your career – my career has been 22 years long,” Myers said. “That’s a good career in TV, but talking about climate – it’s like having a car for three days and saying, ‘This is a great car.’ Well, yeah – it was for three days, but maybe in days five, six and seven it won’t be so good. And that’s what we’re doing here.”
“We have 100 years worth of data, not millions of years that the world’s been around,” Myers continued.
Dr. Jay Lehr, an expert on environmental policy, told “Lou Dobbs Tonight” viewers you can detect subtle patterns over recorded history, but that dates back to the 13th Century.
“If we go back really, in recorded human history, in the 13th Century, we were probably 7 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than we are now and it was a very prosperous time for mankind,” Lehr said. “If go back to the Revolutionary War 300 years ago, it was very, very cold. We’ve been warming out of that cold spell from the Revolutionary War period and now we’re back into a cooling cycle.”
Lehr suggested the earth is presently entering a cooling cycle – a result of nature, not man.
“The last 10 years have been quite cool,” Lehr continued. “And right now, I think we’re going into cooling rather than warming and that should be a much greater concern for humankind. But, all we can do is adapt. It is the sun that does it, not man.”
Lehr is a senior fellow and science director of The Heartland Institute, an organization that will be holding the 2009 International Conference on Climate Change in New York March 8-10.
Another CNN meteorologist attacked the concept that man is somehow responsible for changes in climate last year. Rob Marciano charged Al Gore’s 2006 movie, “An Inconvenient Truth,” had some inaccuracies.
“There are definitely some inaccuracies,” Marciano said during the Oct. 4, 2007 broadcast of CNN’s “American Morning.” “The biggest thing I have a problem with is this implication that Katrina was caused by global warming.”
Marciano also said that, “global warming does not conclusively cause stronger hurricanes like we’ve seen,” pointing out that “by the end of this century we might get about a 5 percent increase.”
His comments drew a strong response and he recanted the next day saying “the globe is getting warmer and humans are the likely the main cause of it.”

I for one am convinced that CO2 is NOT causing global warming. I believe that we are approaching the end of a cycle. Look up Maurice Cottrell and his theories on this the magnetic pole reversal that the Mayans, Egyptians, (even Jesus) predicted thousands of years ago. THis makes the most sense out of any NWO arguement.

I don’t agree with everything on this site. I’ve never agreed with any site, author, or journalist 100%. I really like Alex Jones but I disagree with him over Global Warming. Scientists have been discussing that “Global Warming” or “Man Made Climate Change” may result in a profound cooling period because of the changes in ocean currents. A cooling period would fit in nicely with several climate change models.
In any case reducing the use of fossil fuels is a good goal in and of itself. Have you ever looked at the asthma rates in the inner cities or by coal power plants? We are killing ourselves and our environment by harnessing these sources of energy. I don’t believe there is an easy cure for this and I’m against carbon taxation but I am very much for massive government infusions into creating a decentrlaized power distribution network along with implementing parts of Pickens Plan.
Don’t believe everything you read. Think for yourself. And guess what every now and then you’ll be wrong.

I think the thing to consider is that often first reports in msm are accurate until those in control say, “no more of that”, these will be the talking points from now on.” We have seen it with the first reports on 911, and on other issues as well. Much of the investigations carried on by those seeking truth into any of our situations often point to initial msm reports before the media controls are put into place.
Is it not interesting how Marciano made a statement on air that was exactly opposite from the statements he made the day before on air? I think that should be looked upon as being quite telling.

It is unfortunate that everyone says that “we can’t be in a global warming because it is getting cold” does not understand the principles behind this phenomenom. There are more than “100 years of data”. They climitalogist have been drilling ice core samples from millions of years of weather. The theory put forth back in the eighties stated that the rise in tempature will cause disruptions in chaotic fashion. It doesn’t mean it will be like living in a tropical zone. It would be like that recent disaster movie whose name escapes me, but spread out over a lot more time, not one day.

This is all quite simple:
The SUN is the primary cause of planetary temperature/climate change. This is why ALL THE OTHER PLANETS were warming up very slightly at the same time as the Earth was warming up very slightly (i.e. the same time that the SUN was going through a warming cycle).
CO2 is NOT a poison. It is not toxic. It is what you and all other oxygen breathing critters EXHALE. Furthermore, CO2 is what all green plants INHALE, so there’s a natural balance in place already. People need to know that more CO2 is released into the atmosphere by f***ing VOLCANOES than by mankind.
Global warming is just another part of the same big lie these NWO assholes are telling us about how OIL & COAL are the most COST EFFECTIVE way to get our energy. In other words, these are the shitheads that are SELLING us the fuel that creates some excess CO2 (inert, harmless CO2) and then they turn around and tell us that because we use their f***ing fuel, we have to pay a tax on the CO2 we emit?
Can’t people please wake up and realize they’re being played for suckers? Can’t people take a few years of math, chemistry & physics in college so they can get a sense of proportion about how our world actually operates? although i think maybe you’re missing alex’s point–he’s not saying don’t reduce use of fossil fuels, he’s warning that the “solution” being offered is actually a stepping stone to world government.

I will agree about air pollution and I can agree on the city centers and surrounding area being warmed slightly due to the extensive concrete and asphalt.
As far as what poster # 11 said about ocean currents, there hasn’t been ANY significant change in ocean currents, the whole northern hemisphere is experiencing cold cold burr esp North America.
The arctic ice will rebuild there will be perennial ice in the years to come.
Like it said in the Video we only have a little over 100 years of data it is not enough to base a man made consensus to climate . North America would be on fire in the dry seasons before Europeans settled here and for a long time after, now we have the technology to put the fires out which many types of trees rely on wildfires in order to spread seeds and it also builds the dry tree needles on the ground along with the dead branches making the wildfires hotter and harder to fight.

Walter #25, all research in to ice cores and another speculative information is just that a speculation. You can read what you want in to the data as most scientist do. Unless you are there to record the collation between the samples and the environment, you can never know for sure. It all guessing.
Your better off going out and befriending all your neighbors then worrying about global warming.

#25, the earth is only about 6,000 years old buddy, if the earth were billions or millions of years old, there would be at least 2 miles deep of dust on the moon caused by the suns radiation on the surface. It would have decomposed the surface after even a million years!! When they landed on the moon, they would have completely sunk into the moon!! But there was only 2 inches of dust. Think! Also, there is scientific fact the sun is shrinking every century. If the world was millions of years old, our oceans would have been boiling, as the sun would have been much bigger. #53–of course there’s climate change. There’s always been climate change (well before humans) and there will continue to be climate change. People contribute only a tiny fraction into the equation of the weather. You aren’t a little suspicious that they tried to fearmonger global cooling in the 70’s, then global warming, and now climate change? There has always been extreme weather and if you want to look at human causes you may want to look into HAARP or DARPA and not your neighbor’s SUV.

Carbon gases do not present imminent danger that will whipe the planet clean of living organisms. Thermo-Nuclear and Anti-matter bombs on the other hand, do. Global warming, as a political and media notion, is very clearly diversionary from actual dangers of WMD’s and man’s very real impact on the environment.
Pollution, deforestation, destruction of the ocean reefs(which is possiblydue to excess nitrogen from human waste in the ocean but may be a result of climate warming), and so on are the real environmental dangers. Not cyclical temperature change. I’m very upset that man’s actual impact on the environment is looked over in favor of the incorrectly perceived impact of carbon emissions. Can only blame the media and television to a point. Ultimately the people themselves who allow themselves to be lead around by the dog leash. The media really has done a stunning job at keeping people interesting in their garbage for as long as they have.
David McCarthy: The knowledge of the universe is out there waiting to be tapped. Ideas are not created, only given form from the nothingness. I believe all things are knowable by those who have the means and insight to see. With that in mind I do not find reason to think that a omnipotent God decided to tell someone who then wrote it down. For as many seemingly valid points the Bible and Quran contain in relation to the 7 layers of heaven created to protect man(the atmosphere), and so forth, there are an equal amount of assertions that are false. One being the Earth is the center of the universe and the solar system. I do not read the Bible or Quran, as I can assertain wisdom, compassion, and whatever else it has in there on my own two feet. For others, I’m sure they find the stories contained within entertaining in some regard and a justification of their role on Earth as followers of whatever religion. Enjoy.

i can’t believe there are people who don’t believe in global warming, every geologist, oceanographer, Astrophysicist, Botanist essentially every member of the science departments (all of which are Dr of their respective fields) …..obviously its not all anthropocentric but to argue there is no such a thing as global warming because we are getting hit with cold fronts is just insanely ignorant. Global warming means warmer summers colder winters, that is not a new addition to the theory. People do not have an understanding of ocean currents, major wind currents, CO2 and other contributing grn house gases. the fact remains: there have been incredible amounts of experiments to examine the flux in the various gases that trap heat, the various wavelengths that are trapped by the ocean, the exponential increase of emissions since the industrial revolution, major increase in ocean storms due to a melting of Arctic Ice, the list does not end.

Thank you L, finally someone knows what they are talking about. IT’S CALLED A COLD FRONT. Low fronts create cold weather. Global climate change creates more extremes on both ends of the weather spectrum. I’m an environmental science major and can safely say this is one conspiracy that needs to die. Just because the mainstream media tweaks/exaggerates facts for their own benefit does not mean that climate change is not happening. Man may not have caused it, but we certainly aren’t helping the situation. Look around and see what kind of damage we are doing to the earth. EVERY BIOSPHERE IS IN DECLINE. Not because of natural processes but because of our recklessness with resources and blatant disregard to the importance sustainability. Too many of us simply go about our day without even thinking about the consequences that almost everything we buy, use, or wear has on the environment.
Without the environment, we do not exist. Simple as that.

Like evolution biology and tectonic shifts in geology, so too is climate change for meteorology an ever changing process. Climate change may be affected by man – but the evidence is hardly conclusive and when we can’t even figure out our own man made systems like monetary policy and economics – its hard to believe we could unravel such a complex system like world climate.
However – using petroleum is backwards and antiquated, dumping poison into the water is suicidal, and GMO farming is a disaster waiting to happen. These are all processes we can definitively say are detrimental to our health and our environment and need to be changed. If you don’t believe that emission controls are necessary go to a city that doesn’t have them and walk a mile – you will most definitely change your mind. The answer though isn’t carbon taxes, its alternative fuels that have been around for 100 years +.
The focus should be on using our resources as efficiently as possible – and that’s something we don’t need the government for – we can do it ourselves and as a community. The government however is in the business of creating problems and solutions that only they can fix. Remember McCain’s strange obsession with nuclear power? Why get parabolic mirrors with heliostats and Stirling engines on everyone’s roof when you can make a centralized power system so complex you need a pH D to run it? Stop paying into the system, start making your own system.

The dogmatic braindeadness and shallow thinking of many who come to this site is amazing and discouraging. First, climate change is not and has never been claimed to be simple warming. The argument against a position that was never presented is a nonstarter that makes its advocates look ignorant. Anyway, teh question of whether climate change is “caused” by humans or not is somewhat irrelevant. Was the person’s cancer caused by their diet or by environmental poisons? Impossible to know and irrelevant except that you want top change all significant contributors to the problem – and the problem with the Earth and climates is very real. The real issue is what can we do to make the earth healthier and most of the things that would do that will weaken the power structure and promote healthy culture and liberated people. So drop the armchair philosophizing and conspiracy-mongering and do something to create the future we need – ride your bike, start a garden, support local organic farming, walk more, talk to your neighbors, set up a neighborhood solar panel and wind generator electrical coop…. the YOU can be the real Illuminati!

For example, how much less drug addiction and/or use do we have in this country since the multi-billion dollar War on Drugs began under Reagan? How much more benevolent, compassionate, stable and prosperous is the world at large since the War on Terror began? What sort of lunatics would we have to be to assume it will be any different as we do battle against climate itself? Besides, other than this mindless rhetoric to reduce our carbon footprints, in what other way (small or large) has our government shown they care one whit about the eviroment anyway? These are, after all, the same folks who poisoned 250,000 Gulf War troops with depleted uranium ordinance, and repeated that feat with the Iraqi people and our soldiers serving there. simple, you sell fear…people buy climate change products, books, new laptops, new lightbulbs, new cars…people stock up on food….people start to choose ‘green’ in stores meaning they start to give money to products/corporations that advertise green … it’s like the new Y2K or the new pink campaign…they make you feel that if you don’t buy the green or pink product you’re some bad inhumane person that doesn’t care about global warming/breast cancer.
