CNN Misquotes Ron Paul On Bailout Bill

CNN misquoted Ron Paul yesterday during a phone interview with the Texas Congressman regarding the failure of the bailout bill to pass through Congress.
In what some have seen as an effort to marginalize his opposition to the bailout, CNN attributed an exuberant Lew Rockwell.com blog comment to Ron Paul.
Blogger Marc Gallagher pointed out the misquote, detailing the fact that the site the interviewer referred to was RonPaulForPresident2008.com, which is not Ron Paul’s site, but rather a very popular Ron Paul site run by a supporter.
The text of the Lew Rockwell comment posted here reads:
What a heroic day! The people rose up against a coalition of every evil group in America: the central bank, Wall Street plutocrats, politicians, banksters, think tanks (including the pseudo-libertarian sort), big media, big academia, and big business, and won. Today we got a taste of what things may look like when the regime is finally toppled, and its theft and killing stopped. You would think, given that the message congratulates Ron Paul in the final sentence, that CNN would realise it was written by a supporter and not officially endorsed by Paul himself. But then again, maybe expecting a nationally syndicated mainstream news network to do five minutes of fact checking is a little too much.

Folks the good Dr Ron Paul is informed, humble and on our side….Most of the interview was fair and especially the way the commentator wrapped it up by alluding to the fact Ron Paul was right on his predictions.

The revolution is coming. We are part the point of discussion. The mainstream media ignore the voice of the people so why bother talking? Action is coming.

Do anything helpful to be recognized in your community. Set up support houses. Volunteers that will make their homes an open house in the event of a flood or other disaster. Get the equipment NOW. Don’t wait. THEN when the crazy starts, the citizenry will know you on sight and work with you.

BBC is cranking up the propaganda also. I’ve just seen them report on PBS that the Senate is the wiser and more mature branch of the government who understand the benefits of the bailout. It seems the BBC and US Senate have discovered how worthless commodities can be of great value to the taxpayers.
The most disturbing part of the report states that since the House voted the bailout down, the public has overwhelmingly come to realize the mistake we made in opposing this bill.

To Kris in regards to the dollar devalue: I am too flouridated to explain too much, but I heard something I thought I’d share. If you have a pre 1963 quarter, that quarter would get you a gallon of gas. Pre 1963 quarters have 1/4 silver. Silver is at about 13 dollars spot price, so you have over 3 dollars. It takes over 3 one dollar bills to buy that same gallon of gas, but only ONE pre 1963 quarter to buy that same gallon of gas.
p.s. I know my numbers are not exactly perfect, but just getting the point across.

if there was say only 100 dollars in the whole of the US, and this 100 dollars was held or devided by the people.
then, someone, ie the FED suddenly print another 100 dollars and feed it into the market, then people are twice as well off yes ?
so to counteract the people suddenly becoming twice as rich, the cost of goods goes up
this happens to all goods, it is called inflation.
so even though you now have more dollars in your pocket, they dont buy you as much stuff as they used to,
when there was only 1 hundred dollars in circulation, a loaf of bread would cost say 2 cents,
but now, because the fed as pumped the system with more imaginary money, the loaf of bread now costs you 4 cents
so your money is actually worth less, and it is worth less globally too, when you try to purchase goods from other countries.
so now if the government pump another 700 billion into the system, that will cause the cost of goods to rise, and the money that you use to buy these goods as a normal citizen will be worth a hell of a lot less,

oh, forgot to add,
so when the government come to pay off any of their debts to other countries, using your tax dollars
they now have to pay more!,
because the original loan from another country, say china, was borrowed when the dollar was worth a given amount,
as the dollar devalues, these countries need the US to pay more to compensate for that devaluation,
because if they were then to purchase something with the dollars the US had payed back to them, it wouldnt purchase as much as it used to,
so a debt to china for say 5 trillion dollars, now becomes a debt of 8 trillion dollars!
and guess who has to pay this debt back ?????. yep you guessed it : )
you, me, and everyother normal hard working person.
the only way to sort this mess out is to let it fail!, then start again, hopefully after the revolution with a new fairer system

I need to say up front that I am not advocating illegal activity here. Now, that said, I have one answer to the “bailout ransom” – if someone works for you and yet they refuse to listen to what you want, what do you do? Yes, you fire them, i.e., you stop paying them. Therefore, here’s my personal plan assuming the bailout fails:
1. I will amend my w4 to include the maximum deductions to which I am entitled.
2. I will, on any and all subsequent tax returns, attach a schedule C, duly documented, which will reduce my tax liability to as close to zero as I can get.
If enough of us send this message, this will be one quite difficult to ignore, and, at the same time, difficult to “audit” effectively given the number of citizens involved.
Remember, we only have two legal methods of dealing with our “employees” that this point – the ballot box and the tax forms – let’s use both effectively.

What the hell is wrong with that blog? I didn’t see anything in it I disagree with and frankly, I wish I had written it. I wrote something similar at C&L in my state of glee on Monday. If CNN thinks this will offend people, they obviously haven’t a clue as to how sick people are of being lied to for the sake of manufacturing urgency. This is the Weapons of Mass Destruction all over again and everyone knows it.

To add.. this is why most households have to have both parents working just to live in a half way decent neighborhood. The dollar going down has been a slow process, so most dont seem to notice until it is brought to their attention what the past was. This bailout will speed it up tremendously. Not sure if it will take a couple of months, or many months, but you WILL feel and understand THIS one.

And his pro-life stance really made me feel good. Didn’t matter what his foreign policies were (I never even thought to inquire), and that he is responsible for killing hundreds of thousands and maybe even millions of people in other countries, and even a few in this country, and his pro-life position is not responsible for saving even one unborn baby in this country. Since so many people want to know what to do, when is the gunfighting going to start, or just claim what they would do if such and such a situation ever happened to them or one of their own, maybe all those capable should find out where Alex Jones, Ron Paul, Jessie Ventura, and many of the other patriots who Alex has interviewed are and follow them around all day long giving them body guard services.
Now, obviously the enemy will eventually start something that will start a shoot out, but the defense will obviously be a glorious one that will go down in history as the first shot of the real revolution, the day when the battle cry started from the masses, not just the few. The enemy of course has the high tech weapondry and the tanks and aircraft, but it will be an organized effort on the part of the ones who are serious and capable of doing something for the first time as the question constantly arises about everyone organizing somehow to do something useful for the cause of stopping this police state we are now in.
Ones like Alex, Dr. Paul, and Jessie Ventura are alone in a sense. They are lone wolves. They are loners. They are the ones who are presently out on the front line. So why not start an organized effort yourselves to be with those loners on the front line while you can? Go help those on the front line already, bodily help that is, not just writing here or buying some of their books. Physically they have no protection, even if they have private body guards. Those who are capable of doing what I just suggested now become publically involved and the front liners are the ones who need it most giving them the backing they need for their very lives that they do not have presently. I am sure that someone here can now expand on this to make it work. Yes?

All right. Looking at things logically in the “war” for our minds, it seems that we are not growing fast enough in equivalent to “them” coming out with all these laws, rules, regulations, and upscaled brutality. There are still so many people to “waken up”, but I see there is one thing that will get the people to muster together to the point of believing people like this group who bravely met and had their “down with the regime” conference.
Most people say here and some have even called into Alex Jones’ radio show to say that they are having such a hard time getting others to believe the “truth” stories. Yes, many have “awakened”, but percentage-wise, it is small. There is only one thing that will snap all the nation’s people to finally “get it”, where people who are like this brave group and those handing out “truth” DVD’s or flyers, will be able to be listened to almost immediately. That one thing might happen in the next 40 days or maybe an additional 75 days or so. It was said here by others and has been spoken about for years, starting from the Clinton era before he left office.
The only thing that will snap the entire country into “awakefulness” or realization of the “truth”, is to have Marshal Law, to stop either the presidential election somehow or to stop the transfer of power over to the president elect. All other Constitutional laws have been broken by this regime and the people have accepted it, but it seems that they want to have the Constitutional election. So what we need is to have that Marshal Law which seems to be the only thing that the people are saying that they will accept for stopping an election by the Constitution.
If the election or transition of power is done, then I would tend to believe that we really are in trouble because no one would transfer power, which technically is the same thing as giving oneself up to the authorities for crimes committed, unless that person(s) was assured of a safe haven and if a safe haven is available, that means that whomever is taking over the power position would be condoning all crimes committed and therefore would be just as bad as this regime. That allowance of the transfer of power would then obviously be done for a facade, to help fool the people, making it look like “CHANGE” actually is happening, when it would not be.
MARSHAL LAW (or the stoppage of the presidential CHANGEover) IS OUR SAVIOR that will gather the people together in one fell swoop that is not happening now,

Someone needs to begin putting forth petitions to RECALL every member of Congress or the Whitehouse who votes for any bill, regardless of what they call it, that bails out these greed mongers. Fire Paulson, who dared to “threaten” Congress of a retaliation by Wall Street against America with doom and gloom lies and propaganda. I never thought I’d see the day when America would be sold out to the bankers and more like Nazi Germany than the land of the free and home of the brave. ALEX!!! The bill sent to the house thet was voted on on Monday and failed was 106 pages. The bill just passed by the senate on wednesday is 451 pages. It is bloated with all kinds of new energy tax incentives and basically they are going to phase out our gas outos and they are to be replaced with electric and alternative fuel vehicles. All the money is going to coal, oil and alternative fuel sources. I only skimmed through it over about 15 minutes but I can not believe this is BLOATED with energy provisions, not to mention you have to know what language they are speaking to read it.
They are trying to pass a fast one on us and swindle us again…SOMEONE PLEASE GET ON THIS AND SEND IT AROUND THE WORLD. OUR CONGRESS MUST BE MADE AWARE BEFORE THEY VOTE ON IT. THIS IS INSANE!!!

I don’t see where the quote that was read is specifically attributed to Dr. Paul. In fact, the presenter said, “Do you agree with that?”, not “Do you really feel that way” or “Do you still feel that way”, which says to me that he very probably knew that the words were not Dr. Paul’s words.
AND, they do represent the doctor’s position pretty well; he didn’t balk at them, AND the presenter gave him the prize at the end, “Do you feel vindicated” vis-à-vis Giuliani’s slanders.

The CNN news anchor read the statement from the website, and then simply asked Ron Paul if he agreed with it. That’s not a misquote of Paul. Apparently Steve Watson doesn’t know what a misquote is, or is trying to create a story that doesn’t even exist. Pretty pathetic and a waist of my time reading.

Hey, all the sheeple on this message board going along with Steve Watson about the supposed misquote, read what Watson of infowars said above, watch the video, and then realize or WAKE UP to the fact that Ron Paul was NOT misquoted, but that the CNN news anchor WAS misrepresented by Steve Watson.

Infowars.net should take the opportunities to get direct facts straight, especially when it ridicules others of making those same mistakes. These websites need to also be careful when the ridicule other websites and media for fearmongering, when looking at the top 20 headlines on Infowar.com could very well be classified in the same category.

CNN did misquote Ron Paul, they put his photo right besides the quote from the webpage, that is what they usually do when TV media is quoting someone.. the viewer receives this as a quote from that said person. Correct me if I am wrong.

I totally agree that big media mislead viewers/readers to what they want you to believe. But let’s not yell foul play at every word they utter.
This was not a misquote. It is actually a piece that is posted on Paul’s web side. And if it is posted there, by extension, Ron Paul is “responsible” for it (the same principle as we want the “other politicians” to answer for the behavior of their entourage). If he doesn’t agree, then there should be a better filtering job to be done by his team.
Now before some start to lash out at me, let me say that I’m in total agreement with Ron Paul and his message.
Let’s stay focused on the goal. But we all need to stay objective and cool headed.

Time to live in the Solution Folks,
We need to organize a simple plan to reform Campaigns and prevent Lobbyists from bribing Politicians.
1)Cap Campaign Spending.
2)Equal Media time for all.
3)Severe zero tolerance laws for bribes, gifts or coercion.
With 300 million people to go on a passive resistance strike, we can certainly motivate Congress and the Senate.
Let’s quit bitchin and start living in the solution.
A plan like this would even attract Dems and Repubs.
