CNN Poll: Founders Would Be “Disappointed” With Nation Today

How would the likes of Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin feel about the way the United States has turned out 232 years after declaring its independence?
Most Americans say they’re proud to be citizens, but most also think the Founding Fathers wouldn’t be pleased.

Most Americans say they’re proud to be citizens, but most also think the Founding Fathers wouldn’t be pleased.
Not pleased, a majority of Americans recently polled said.
According to a new CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey, 69 percent of adult Americans who responded to a poll June 26-29 said the signers of the Declaration of Independence would be disappointed by the way the nation has turned out overall.
Twenty-nine percent responded “pleased,” the only other choice given to the 1,026 respondents of the telephone poll.
Americans “didn’t always feel that way,” according to Keating Holland, CNN polling director. “In 2001, 54 percent thought that the signers of the Declaration of Independence would be pleased with the state of the country today.”

My name is Uriah Wesman,from Livingston, Montana and am 16 years old. I am deeply concerned on where the world is going and think that the only thing that needs to happen is for the truth about 9/11 to come out. I want to do the best can to get the word out but lately i have been thinking about other ways to attract attention is for me to not eat for the dates of August 28 to September 11. 16 days! I would not only not eat but will mail EVERY SENATOR a copy of Loose Change and a letter personally written by me. I am not in it for the attention. People will look at this and think “Wow, if a 16 year old kid feels this deeply about 9/11 truth i got to find out and do some research for myself.I would also like to know if there is any other people out there that will do it alos.

now you see that’s the problem with most Americans today. they say they’re proud to be citizens but think our founding fathers would not be as pleased. Today’s Americans are so pre-occupied with their own little world, that they don’t care much about how the country is going as long as they get theirs. the time will come however, that there won’t be anything left to be gotten and then they’ll cry………… what happened, how come my life isn’t as good as it used to be?
all the while they were too freaking lazy to confront what’s really been going on and that our freedoms and way of life has been chipped & chipped away by the elitists (on purpose). Most Americans are the frog that’s being boiled to death alittle at a time and are too stupid to realize what the hell is happening to them. Then they wake up one day and ask themselves how did I die on the inside? The answer: because I was worried only about myself and didn’t realize we were all being destroyed by one law, one ordinance, one corrupt political leader, one greedy & pathetic human being in power at a time. Of course the founding fathers are pissed. They’re more pissed at us because most don’t have the balls to fight back. It makes their revolution of no effect. it will be all in vain if something doesn’t happen QUICK!

Amerikan foreign policy is a repeat of British Imperialism in which the founders fought off.
I think the founders would probably shrug in their graves, like “Oh well” tyranny is just the way things are done. I mean, even some of the founders argued that Washington should become king, and they have peasants tending to the fields.

This Fourth of July, as we’re celebrating independence and freedom, many senators are getting ready to come back to Washington and sell out some of our most fundamental freedoms.
That’s because on Tuesday, July 8th the Senate will consider an unconstitutional FISA bill that lets lawbreaking phone companies off the hook.
You’ve been with us throughout this fight. Your passion and your energy have inspired me and all of us at the ACLU to keep fighting when things seemed hopeless and to never give up.
But without a significant public outcry, the Senate will pass this bill next week.
That is why it is vital you contact your friends and family today — ask them to call their senators before Congress returns.
This is our last push in the Senate. Some senators, like Chris Dodd and Russ Feingold, are trying to improve this horrible bill. And while we greatly appreciate these valiant efforts, we fully expect a bill with warrantless wiretaps and telecom immunity to reach the Senate floor.
When that vote comes, senators will have a crucial decision to make: whether or not to eviscerate our treasured right to privacy in our own homes and let lawbreaking telecom companies off the hook for handing over private information.
This is all hands on deck. It’s time to ask everyone you know to get involved — even people who might not be familiar with FISA.
The bottom line is that no president should have the power to monitor the phones and emails of Americans without a warrant. No president should have the power to pardon companies that broke the law. And there should not and will not be political cover for any senator who votes ‘yes’ on a final bill with warrantless wiretapping or immunity for telecommunications companies that broke the law.

Where does the 29% live? They must have dual citizenship. Do you think the founding fathers would have Military Bases in 140 countries and give Israel billions of taxpayers dollars? The Revolutionary war was over a 2% stamp act, what would they think of a 35% income tax. I know, they would think we are a bunch of candy asses. Hell, King George or the Mafia wouldn’t tax a mark out of business. We didn’t have an income tax for 137 YEARS, then along comes the federal reserve, the biggest extortion racket in the history of man.

The PURPOSE they said for giving the F.B.I. these privilages is for them to make it easier for them to meet Congressional demand.
In the first place Congress nor the Senate have a RIGHT to give anyone such privilages. “Due process” is the law. However, if Americans read the Constitution and Bill of Rights they would KNOW their rights and be able to challenge them in a court of law. Furthermore, if they knew the Constitution and Bill of Rights, they could come together locally in their own districts and investigate the treasonous bills being passed by their so-called representatives. Anyone who is familiar with the Constitituion and Bill of Rights, knows that ABSOLUTE POWER is FORBIDDEN in the Constitution. I think it is high time for citizens to come together in their own communities and start asking important questions like, “is this bill consitutional ?” If it is not, then it is null and void. It may take a court of law to come to that conclusion but it is time for people to start doing their homework and using the courts to put the REAL criminals in jail. Namely, people in EACH Presidential administration, Congress and Senate, who go against the Constitution. And that is written in the Constitution. Bills are suppose to be debated for a period of time before they are passed and become law. Well people what a re you waiting for ? Start talking to your neighbors and go to that next Town Hall meeting. Organize, study, investigate and indict those people who are writing these Draconian laws. IT IS THE VERY SAME PEOPLE THAT WE CALL REPRESENTATIVES. Otherwise kiss your country and freedoms goodbye for good. The answer is not easy but it is right in front of us.

The double speak is going too far, last night at the local 4th of July fireworks, a child next to me asked his father, “Why do they get fireworks and we don’t?” (He was asking about the city display, in Arizona, fireworks a “illegal”).
The father replied “They have a permit, son.”
Such a simple concept, even the 7 year old understood, if its illegal, why can they do it, but not us…the adult did not even get how important a question it was. Instead of a learning moment for a young soverign, it became a sheep-in-training moment. Very sad.

I am actually shocked at ALL the flags I see flying, ISN’T THE CONSTITUTION DEAD, WASN’T THE WHOLE POINT OF AMERIKKKA, THE CONSTITUTION! Even as a child I used to get an uneasy feeling whenever I saw people waving flags, regardless of what flag it was, but especially an amerikkkan flag. I NEVER see people who fly a constitution, I looked everywhere online and COULD NOT FIND ONE MAKER of a constitution you could fly. But everywhere I see flags, everytime I see a flag I THINK FASCISM and RACISM. The SCARIEST THING TO ME IS WHEN I SEE BLACK PEOPLE FLYING THE FLAG OR WEARING FLAG T-SHIRTS, Is there something I’m missing?? If it gets any worse, it will go beyond total censorship and they will just re-write my posts to say what they want to hear.
Now I suppose that with the right computer filtering program, they could simply swap out certain words, so it always says how the Fed is saving us all with Liberty & Freedom. That way we could always read about perfect wars and perfect executive orders and the “perfect annihilation” and assault on our Constitution and Bill Of Rights, as it saves everyone with slavery and forfieture.
The only thing wrong with our founding documents is that our leaders all lie and fail to uphold them, as written and intended. Then we as Amercian fools believe the manicured myth that we’ve been following those antiquated laws and that’s why we are having all this turmoil today.

Disappointed? They would probably be secretly planning a coup d’tat. They would all be called powdered wig, Al Quada and would all have a couple of roving wire taps, 24 hour a day surveillance, and would be despised and black listed by the corporate media. But they would have the hearts of all the poor, the people with the least to lose, are the first to fight for their little piece of the world. The whispers of change, are a good sign, we must wake more. That would make the founding fathers happy: Patriots three hundred years later willing and ready to retake this country from the maul of tyranny and despotism. I’d say their words weren’t in vain. Not while people like us know what all the fuss is about: Freedom is a beautiful thing, well worth it’s weight in blood and gold.

I agree #51…and these new technologies ought to be spread like wildfire. Teach them in local community classes for cheap. I’ve seen instructions for making your own fuel at home in Mother Earth News Magazine along with a lot of other independent living ideas. Have several alternative energy sources available so that when they shut access to any one off, you’ve got three others.

below is what our forefathers would do if they were alive today. some of these ideas might be disturbing so parental guidance is suggested…
first of all i want to say that nobody wants to die. so choosing the correct players would be our forefathers plan in finding the proper “weapons” to fight the NWO.
1) Retards: these people are perfect for jihad/martyrdom against the NWO. tell them to put on a suicide vest. tell them it is a magic vest that will give them super powers. but only after they walk into the mother building(your target). once they enter your target hit your detonator button.
i think there is a program out there in which the state will pay you $700 a month per retard as long as you take care of them at your home. this is a good opportunity to have a small guerilla army(1-4 persons) in your arsenal and fly under the radar. our forefathers would see an opportunity here and take advantage of it.
2) Elderly: these folks are also good candidates for jihad/martyrdom against the NWO. i have respect for the elderly but there comes a point when they don’t have a lot of time to live and they are still able to do something physically. put a suicide vest on them, salute them for being a patriotic hero and send them to your target. i figure they can either lay in a nursing home crapping their pants or they can do something patriotic for WE THE PEOPLE

You have to understand history in the context of their era not ours,many of the signers were opposed to slavery,it would have been so devisive that, to include it would have meant we would still be british subjects to this day.
