Confirmed: German Shooter on Anti-Depressants

Is there a pattern here? Tim Kretschmer, the baby-faced killer who went on a murderous rampage at the Albertville Secondary in Winnenden, near Stuttgart, Germany, was on “medication” for depression, the Scotsman has revealed. “It emerged that Kretschmer had been suffering from depression, even attending a clinic and receiving medication for the condition,” the newspaper reports. No further details are provided.

Here is a list of recent (September, 2008) shooters on various antidepressants (compiled by The Bitter Pill blog):

DeKalb, Illinois – February 14, 2008: 27-year-old Steven Kazmierczak shot and killed five people and wounded 16 others before killing himself in a Northern Illinois University auditorium. According to his girlfriend, he had recently been taking Prozac, Xanax and Ambien. Toxicology reports showed that he still had trace amounts of Xanax in his system.

Omaha, Nebraska – December 5, 2007: 19-year-old Robert Hawkins killed eight people and wounded five before committing suicide in an Omaha mall. Hawkins’ friend told CNN that the gunman was on antidepressants, and autopsy results confirmed he was under the influence of the “anti-anxiety” drug Valium.

Jokela, Finland – November 7, 2007: 18-year-old Finnish gunman Pekka-Eric Auvinen had been taking antidepressants before he killed eight people and wounded a dozen more at Jokela High School in southern Finland, then committed suicide.

Cleveland, Ohio – October 10, 2007: 14-year-old Asa Coon stormed through his school with a gun in each hand, shooting and wounding four before taking his own life. court records show Coon had been placed on the antidepressant Trazadone.

Blacksburg, Virginia – April 16, 2007: The psychiatric drug history of Seung-Hui Cho in the Virginia Tech Massacre was never made public. Initial reports stated that “depression medication” was found among Cho’s belongings. But neither his toxicology reports, nor his recent medical history were ever released to find out whether Cho had been in withdrawal from psychiatric medication. (33 were killed and 29 injured, but this was not included in the total of dead and wounded cited above.)

Red Lake Indian Reservation, Minnesota – March 21, 2005: 16-year-old Native American Jeff Weise, reportedly under the influence of the antidepressant Prozac, went on a shooting rampage at home and at his school, killing nine people and wounding five before committing suicide.

Greenbush, New York – February 2004: 16-year-old Jon Romano strolled into his high school in east Greenbush and opened fire with a shotgun. Special education teacher Michael Bennett was hit in the leg. Romano had been taking “medication for depression.”

El Cajon, California – March 22, 2001: 18-year-old Jason Hoffman was on two antidepressants, Effexor and Celexa, when he opened fire at his California high school wounding five. Hoffman had also undergone an “anger management” program.

Williamsport, Pennsylvania – March 7, 2000: 14-year-old Elizabeth Bush was on the antidepressant Prozac when she blasted away at fellow students in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, wounding one.

Conyers, Georgia – May 20, 1999: 15-year-old T.J. Solomon was being treated with a mix of antidepressants when he opened fire on and wounded 6 of his classmates.

Columbine, Colorado – April 20, 1999: 18-year-old Eric Harris was on the antidepressant Luvox when he and his partner Dylan Klebold killed 12 classmates and a teacher and wounded 23 others before taking their own lives in the bloodiest school massacre in history. The coroner confirmed that the antidepressant was in his system through toxicology reports while Dylan Klebold’s autopsy was never made public. Harris and Klebold underwent “anger management” and “death education” classes.

Notus, Idaho – April 16, 1999: 15-year-old Shawn Cooper fired two shotgun rounds in his school narrowly missing students; he was taking a mix of antidepressants.

Springfield, Oregon – May 21, 1998: 15-year-old Kip Kinkel murdered his own parents and then proceeded to school where he opened fire on students in the cafeteria, killing two and wounding 22. Kinkel had been on Prozac. Kinkel also underwent “anger management” classes.

I really liked your page Alex, but in this case I don’t know where you get your information about this tragedy. I’m from germany and there had been a lot of wrong informations here… But i never heard about Anti-Depressants! All we know jet is that he Tim consulted a psychologist because of depressions 5 times. I don’t know how you handle Anti-Depressants in the states but in germany your only able to get Anti-Depressants with a prescription. It is impossible for him to get those without a therapy.

Wow, just wondering if anyone here has ever taken any of these medications. I can tell you that I was on and off of them untill finally saying enough is enough. I’ve been off of them for over 4 years and I’m doing better than ever. THings aren’t perfect but I got my life back, I chose to stop being a victim and take responsibility for my poor choices. Best way to live … wide awake Just a warning to those with kids college age or people who are that age. The doctors will scare you into thinking you cannot get off of these dangerous drugs. Many doctors will create a sense of fear and dependence in the patient, ask anyone who has ever been prescribed something like this.
The whole “depression” phenomena exploits the loneliness felt by many in society. This world is very anti-life, anti-social and promotes arrested development, its normal to feel upset and if you don’t form some close relationships you’re more susceptible. Its especially hard for teenagers entering college, many experience depression during the first year or two; however, these drugs can make the problem worse. Just look at the class-action lawsuits filed againt the makers of Paxil and many other drugs. This is part of the Info-WAR people. Don’t forget that many of these drugs were in experimental phases just after WWII and developed by our intellegence services.
Nasty stuff. The Pharma lobby will continue to keep the public in the dark untill people take action. The AMA, the universities, the doctors themselves, GPs, psychologists and psychiatrists have all been complicit in this. I would like to see more articles exposing this part of the atack on our humanity and what we can do to stop it.

Glad to hear it. I was wondering if you don’t mind me asking, did you have problems with sleeping when you took such medication ? The reason I ask is I have done some research and found that these types of meds seam to inhabit REM and Deep Sleep modes of the brain. Any body and I mean anybody deprived of Rapid Eye Movement and Deep Sleep for prolonged periods of time experience serious depleted and unclear thought paterns and if deprived long enough psychotic thoughts. This will occur in any normal human under such circumstances. I have no way to test my theory but I believe these drugs stop the brain from dropping to a level of ELF necessary to achieve such sleep. You may sleep but never get below 3.5 hertz. 3 hertz down to .5 hertz is generally the area of RAPID EYE MOVEMENT {REM or dream state} and DEEP SLEEP.

I experience these type of symptoms after long periods of sleeplessness due to stress, and worry. After a month with no sleep and there ya go. It took me a few years to recover after that. I threw out the meds, I felt like they were killing me slowly. (shakes, sweats, weight gain, psychotic thoughts (worse than normally experienced), hair falling out/turning grey within weeks. I believe faith in the Lord Jesus… Is what set me free. In my down time, i had plenty of time to reflect why I was in the sorry state i was in. And made changes (some moral ones too) accordingly. Things are better now. for sure.

I remember sleeping way too much or not enough, I believe it can be dependent on one’s body chemistry, but yes over all it will affect sleep patterns and the human body is so complex. It is arrogant for anyone in medical science to assume they “know” how these drugs will affect a population. What you have here is a massive lab test on human test subjects, some of these drugs are known to affect reproduction (i.e. birth defects), create memory loss (long term?) and affect endocrine function.

I am mildly bipolar and have bad depressions.

I have taken Paxil, Effexor, Celexa & Lexapro for depression. These are all SSRI class, Prozac-like drugs.

I have to disagree with Alex Jones here, naively pointing the finger at these drugs is a mistake. They help millions of people including myself.

Otherwise, I agree that US psychiatrists generally cause as many problems as they solve and recklessly over -prescribe drugs.

I was prescribed Prozac for chronic depression about 10 years ago. After a couple of weeks I didn’t feel anything. Nothing at all. No happiness, no sadness, no joy, no fear, no peace, no dread. Absolutely nothing. After a couple of months I quit taking the drug because I wanted to FEEL. There is nothing worse than having no emotions at all.

It is well documented by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) that 100% of all school shootings (and many other shootings) were perpetrated by people on PSYCHOTROPIC drugs and were in the hands of Psychiatry PRIOR to the incidents. Good for you..but ofr the majority of people it does not work and even has bad consequences.
I know of many people helped by simply ingesting DHA in higher doses 6-9 grams a day.

It is always the same story but there are scientific tests that can be taken to establish if the person even had the appropriate genes to safely metabolise these dangerous drugs and it can be established that the drug and dose caused toxicity in their blood leading to Akathesia (induced aggression, mania and violence) why are there not more lawyers all over this and demanding DNA testing of the victims (the shooters) to establish they were under the influence of drugs. Therefore confirming that the doctors should be held accountable for handing out these drugs without informed consent without appropriate testing and thrown in prison. Once we start putting these murderers in prison I guarantee the prescription rate will drop and so will the homicides. these drugs induce the same mania as illegal drugs a drug pusher providing ice or cocaine would got to gaol why are these doctors above the law these drugs all require the same pathways CYP450 genes in the liver and nearly 30% of the population has defective genes.

You are mischaracterizing Akathisia. I had this condition as a side effect from taking an anti-bipolar drug called Abilify at too high of a dose. Akathisia is basically the inability to sit still, you constantly feel uncomfortable and a need to shift you position. It does not imply aggression, mania or violence.

Regarding you calls for DNA testing, you seem to be pretty poor understanding of the state biomedical science. There are no such tests to “establish if the person even had the appropriate genes to safely metabolise these dangerous drugs.” Likewise, “DNA testing of the victims” could not “establish they were under the influence of drugs.”

Try reading a book on molecular biology, you are pretty clueless.

LUCKY YOU that your bout of Akathesia only resulted in nervous agitation, unfortunately many are ot so fortunate and it leads to significant aggression and mania. This test can establish what the persons body can and can’t efficiently metabolise and if there is enough toxicity BANG the adverse reactions noted by the pharmacy of death are clearly evident. You are either a FOOL and misinformed or you are deliberately trying to keep the propaganda going and you should be ashamed of yourself. I’m surprised there are so FEW school shootings as there have been. Schools are straight up brainwash camps. These meds are eugenics trash. What a surprise – a CORRELATION between people who go on lethal rampages and people who take anti-depressants. Well, guess what? There’s also a high CORRELATION between people who take anti-depressants and people who are suicidal/homicidal. Is there any justification for making the leap from these CORRELATIONS to implying that there is a true CAUSAL RELATIONSHIP between taking anti-depressives and then going on lethal rampages as a direct result of the drugs? Of course, people with mental health problems are going to be prescribed anti-depressants, and of course, some of those mental ill people are going commit crimes while on anti-depressants.

Certainly we should not expect any drug to be 100% effective and 99.999% of people on anti-depressants do not go on murderous rampages either.

So, blaming the anti-depressant on the data presented is profoundly naive and unscientific.

Try learning something about statics and correlations before mouthing off on subjects you obliviously no nothing about.

I’m not Alex, but then I’ve known 3 adults on Prozax and or Xanax. Of the three, just exactly three died at their own hands. Go figure. It is debatable purely on principle, in my opinion, just exactly how “beneficial” it is to give someone with temporary to permanent “emotional problems” a medication designed to alter brain chemistry. This, to my mind, is much like an ignorant person that beats on a malfunctioning car engine with a wrench though they don’t even have a clue why it is malfunctioning; expecting that it will work better for it. You are correct on that correlation does not explicitly prove cause. You are wrong by omitting the fact that ALL recent shootings of this sort are linked to SRIs.

Correlation does not absolutely prove cause. However in these cases the correlation is so strong that further research is absolutely warranted.

Your statement that he was on SRIs because he may have felt like killing people shows you have no clues about depression.

If you are smart enough to understand stats how are you dumb enough to make a completely wrong statement about depression? From my experience us scientists, engineers and math studs/grads know better than to make comments on subjects we know f*ck all about.

I think that your phrase “Correlation DOES NOT prove causation” was a line that somebody better educated than you used on you in an act of sophistry to fob you off about something…….

Prozac and mass shootings are linked but the cause and effect can be argued about.
Who’s to say that the drugs were not helping someone who might have committed this crime sooner had they not been on medication. I don’t believe it’s that way round but we need to find out.

Wow! Talk about skirting the issue with some of the comments here. The FACT is that these kids did the shooting because they were on psych drugs or on horrible withdrawals from them. The ONE point you have all missed is this. There were ZERO school shootings prior to Psychiatry entering the school system a few decades ago? Duh! Sometimes I get the sense, that the “undisclosed side effects,” in conjunction with other “undisclosed factors,” is at the heart of yet another “undiclosed eugenics plan,” which is of it self off the radar of doctors and health care professionals to detect.

Of course if this were the case, then diagnosis, treatments and medications would have to be controlled in a highly complex way using super computer programs, which would require massive amounts of individuialized data, where the undisclosed goal(s) of treatment would be in the form of an unrecognizable mass eugenics plan. That is, an “artifical selection means,” rather than natural selection or the preventative intervention methods claimed by conventionally understood alopathic medicine.

This may seem wordy but I don’t know how else to covey the realization that such a thing is possible and appears to be emerging, as in Emerging XXXXXXX, etc., where the undisclosed goal is more like a “multi factor” double negative with the ability to eliminate the masses selectively while avoiding the chosen.

As each person passes through a review process, call it routine checks and treatments for whatever, perhaps even survival of Emerging cancers & viruses, etc., selection and elimination factors could be implimented involving our longevity, procreation and even early elimination, so long as selective outcomes are made to appear with odds, too complex to cipher by mind, but yet precise. That is, not even your doctor would know.

I say this because of how the wording of emerging legislation appears, regarding the means and methods of diagnosis, liability, etc., coupled with emerging socialized and mandatory medical practices involving not only vaccines, but prescriptions as well. It is uncanny that the Pandemic Flu Bill of 05, exists in such a form that “no side effects” are to be tracked and recorded and IMO, this is actually at the very heart of a covert and UNDISCLOSED, selective eugenics tool when combined with OTHER factors.

We must have transparency with all potential side effects of any mass vaccines and medications, or they can easily become a wild card(s) for eugenicists to wield covertly, as we simultaneously hear their concerns of overpopulation, dwindling resources, the need for socialized medical practice with zero accountability built in. With today’s super computer models, side effects becomes a branch of science bigger than the IRS with it’s tax forms, complete with loop holes big enough for rail cars that no one knows about.

I do not think I am wrong when considering the bigger pieces of the emerging puzzle which I have mentioned in this post. In fact, it leaps out at you if you can envison the pieces that are taking shape in light of the politics and legislation that’s happening. We have the implimentation of a covert eugenics program, that can’t be proved in a court of law, but the plan appears and is claimed not to exist, as honest politics and winning the nomination will be of the same integrity.

Someone with some real brains needs to take a good long look at what is going down here, because it’s as real as the value and motto on our currency, In God We Trust and just what are they doing to humanity?!!!

I really liked your page Alex, but in this case I don’t know where you get your information about this tragedy. I’m from germany and there had been a lot of wrong informations here… But i never heard about Anti-Depressants! All we know jet is that he Tim consulted a psychologist because of depressions 5 times. I don’t know how you handle Anti-Depressants in the states but in germany your only able to get Anti-Depressants with a prescription. It is impossible for him to get those without a therapy.
