i have insurance and it is unaffordable s---. is it going to get worse under obamacare? doubtful. Certainly doubtful enough not to go to a rally and shout. this reeks of astroturfing. I am not defending the private insurance companies but lot of the problems with private health care are directly related to government mandating and frivolous lawsuits.
My insurance career began in 1976 in Medicare Part A after which I held numerous positions not only in Part A but Part B as well, later working my way in and throughthe private business sector which still required my acquired background, knowledge and expertise in government programs and state and federal laws in order to coordinate benefits with the private business and group insurance programs.
Being a Medicare recipient myself I also have first-hand experience as a “prisoner” of the government health care – as Medicare is just that – government health care for the elderly and disabled. The current Medicare premium is around $100 a month (& climbing). Add to that, $1,000.oo hospital deductible (per benefit period) plus copays, lifetime reserve days (more expensive but only allowed 60 PER LIFETIME). This doesn’t include RX costs.
To lighten the blow, one must purchase a supplement (average prem $100+ to $300+ per month) which STILL doesn’t cover Part D RX costs. That requires a seperate premium (avg $25 – $100+ per month depending on how much you want covered). Even those have deductibles and copays (IF your Rx is on the government’s formulary which changes EVERY YEAR.) Then there are restrictions such as requiring you to try a different Rx before allowing covg for the one your Dr recommends for you or even limiting the Rx to certain quantities and such. Your coverage is only good up to a certain amount (which changes EVERY YEAR) after which, you pay 100% of the cost until you’re out of pocket so many thousands of dollars before your coverage kicks in again & on & on it goes.
OR one could enroll in the rapidly disappearing ‘Advantage’ plans which are less expensive yet are even more restrictive and limits your choice of physicians. (Your specialty clinics such as cancer treatment centers etc won’t accept any payments from one of these plans.) These plans are rapidly going away due to government red tape and cut backs to the point medical practices limit the number of patient they will accept with this type coverage because they find it hard to even stay afloat.
The average Medicare recipient, even ones with higher educations, find it difficult to decipher or unravel all the details which change EVERY YEAR (commonly known as as Open Enrollment) it’s always “back to the drawing board” right when you think you’ve got the jist of your plan.
Open Enrollment is another way to wear the average Medicare recipient down as they’re only given 6 weeks to decipher ever-changing government benefits and private plans that are ever changing as well. Imagine the annual chaos of millions of people simultaneously comparison shopping the multitude of plans, enrolling, disenrolling and everything relative to that in 6 WEEKS. THEN, after the deadline, the multitude who fell victim to enrollment errors, omissions etc.
Then you have the government making it not only more and more difficult each year for the Medicare beneficiaries and medical practices but the agents handling these applications by placing more restrictions or burdensome requirements on plans that have ever-decreasing commissions as well.
Now, on to V.A. My oldest sister lost her father in WWII, my father fought in WWII, a lot of the men in my family, in addition to my niece, are military vets.
One of my nephews was seriously injured while serving in the army and is entitled to full V.A. benefits. He is in excruciating pain and needs a bilateral hip replacement. His wife has a life-threatening medical condition affecting her heart which renders her unable to even operate a motor vehicle. They have a seriously diabetic child and escalating medical expenses (add to that – Obama’s attack on our economy).
Any assistance from the V.A. has been buried alive in a mountain of delays, red tape and just plain ignoring his entitlement and his plight.
The LOGICAL SOLUTION TO THIS WHOLE CLUSTER F**K WOULD BE, SINCE WE’RE A COUNTRY FOUNDED ON EQUALITY – PROVIDE EQUAL COVERAGE FOR ALL CITIZENS – GOVERNMENT OR NON-GOVERNMENT RECIPIENTS.
Since B.O. is so “concerned” about the U.S. CITIZENS’ access to affordable health care and I’m SURE he’d love to see all this dissent go away, AND we ARE a nation supposedly founded on EQUALITY – provide EVERYONE (including HIM, politicians and government workers) the SAME health care.
Why not?! WE pay for THEIR healthcare. NONE of the politicians are willing to use what they’re trying to ram down our throats. EQUALITY – everyone has the same and is treated the same. End of problem.

Yep, me too. They spent over a million dollars training me. I learned everything they wanted me to learn and then I learned more. The ONLY decent thing I ever got from the US Government.
There are more than three million veterans in this country who were trained before Gulf War 1. That means Viet Nam style training. Desert Training only became Universal after GW 1. IF the current military paid more attention to training Viet Nam style they would be better suited to fight insurgency tactics. Instead, they are trained at being military police, so much the better for US out here.
We have forgotten more than they have ever been trained. When it is time, we will fall in and know our jobs from day one.

To both of you, I feel the exact same way. So many coffee drinking co-op shopping yuppies. I put up vaccination posters and others all over the city and a lot have been torn down. People just can’t accept this information. Keep talking to people though, especially those with influence (professors, doctors, etc.) that’s what I spend most of my time doing. If nothing else, you get people thinking about it.

Sorry but what does this have to do with Healthcare? Single Payer is not socialized medicine 400
billion per year is spent on administrative costs for the current system. Why? to make sure the insurance companies stay in control of your health and their profits. The public option which is under attack is a compromise to help keep the FOR PROFIT insurance and drug companies within reason, They are currently out of control. If you don’t do your own research and demand at least a public option on healthcare. Remember I said option not mandate then the corporate masters will take the public option off the table, demand a mandate to cover the 47 million people without insurance to have insurance and pass the cost on to everyone else including a nice fat profit margin. Your being duped and distracted on this issue. No one stands to lose anything with a public option plan except Big Pharma and the Insurance industry. It was “packed” full of ObamaCare supporters.
I heared about it on the news only after it happened.

FEDS GRANT EMINENT DOMAIN AS COLLATERAL TO CHINA FOR U.S. DEBTS!
Beijing, China — The United States of America has tendered to China a written agreement which grants to the People’s Republic of China, an option to exercise Eminent Domain within the USA, as collateral for China’s continued purchase of US Treasury Notes and existing US Currency reserves!
On February 11, Bloomberg Business News reported that China was seeking “guarantees” for its US Government debt (Story Here), and it now appears they got it. Well placed senior sources at the US Embassy in Beijing CONFIRM the formal written agreement was delivered by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her recent trip to China.
This means that in the event the US Government defaults on its financial obligations to China, the Communist Government of China would be permitted to physically take — inside the USA — land, buildings, factories, perhaps even entire cities – to satisfy the financial obligations of the US government.
Put simply, the feds have actually mortgaged the physical land and property of all citizens and businesses in the United States. They have given to a foreign power, their Constitutional power to “take” all of our property, as actual collateral for continued Chinese funding of US deficit spending and the continued carrying of US national debt.
This is an unimaginable betrayal of every man, woman and child in the USA. An outrage worthy of violent overthrow.
Eminent Domain is the power of government to TAKE private property for public use without the consent of the property owner. Under our Constitution, the government can only “take” when providing “just compensation” for what they’ve taken.
Who decides what constitutes “just compensation?” The government!
in past “takings” homeowners who felt the government was not paying them enough for property have filed lawsuits. In absolutely every such case, the value placed upon the property by the government was upheld by the courts.
Our federal government has now granted to China, this power to “take” our homes and businesses in the event the US Gov’t defaults on its debts.
Let’s play this out as a worst case scenario. . . . . .
The US Gov’t goes belly-up and China comes in and says, “they owed us $700 Billion in Treasury Notes and another $2 Trillion in actual cash money which is now worthless. We are taking the entire state of Hawaii and the entire state of California in lieu of this bad debt. ”
With the stroke of a Chinese chop stick, Hawaii and California — all the land and buildings in those states — are now owned by China.
The “taking” would be a “valid public use” because it was “taken” in payment of the public debt!!!!
China could then turn around and declare the value of all that land to be worth. . . . . I dunno, ten cents on a dollar?
If you own a $200,000 house in either state, you get a Chinese check for $20,000.
Needless to say, the property owners would go ballistic and demand “just compensation” for what was taken. Who gets to decide what is “just?” China!
Don’t think you got a fair price for what they took? No problem, sue China. You’ll lose.
People who live in those states and own their land outright, might be able to negotiate with China to “rent” back what used to be their own property, as long as they continue to pay all their taxes (to China) ; but the land and buildings would belong to China!
This is what our own Government has just done to us and it is the single most vile act of betrayal in the history of human existence.
State Governments Knew This Was Coming
In early February nine U.S. States began the process of re-asserting their Sovereignty pursuant to the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the US Constitution; declaring null and void any actions by Congress that violated the Constitution.
At the time, I wrote about those state efforts (Here) and wondered why so many states were taking-up such an arcane issue in such a seemingly urgent fashion. I guess now, we know why.
The states were obviously privy to what the feds were planning to do with granting Eminent Domain to China. The states took action to make certain the feds couldn’t give away cities or the states themselves!
This situation is going to get VERY ugly, VERY fast as one sovereign power (the feds) tries to literally give away the land of other sovereign powers, (the states). This is the type of thing that starts Civil War.
Our present federal government makes the treachery and betrayal of Benedict Arnold look like child’s play.

Well, I’m from Germany and we live under FORCED Medical Insurance. And I think a lot of people don’t really grasp what this means. Ok I admit – 16% of yor Paycheck is not “too” much for the promise of universal healthcare. Nobody in Germany is denied basic to extended Medical Care. But people don’t count all the hidden fees. Especialy over the last 20 Years those skyrocketed. There was a time where stuff was REALLY free. But those days are long gone. Extra fee for the “good” tooth implants, extrafee for the better drugs etc.
Let me repeat, you HAVE to be insured. Theres no way arround. You have the Choice between the state-insurance and private insurance.
1.State-Insurance (Gesetzliche Krankenversicherung)
- Is the form of insurance for 80% of the public.
- Is handled by Quasi-Private Companys (Krankenkasse)
which work for PROFIT (strange, I thought they were created to provide healthcare)
This gives you the Illusion of choice – cause they all have to take the same money (currently about 16 % of your paycheck)
There are only little differences between them. one pays for things like Accupuncture the other doesn’t, and minor things like that.
- If you are owning a private practice as a Doctor you need a license(Kassenarztsitz) to treat State-Insured patients. This has nothging to do with a medical license, you just need it to “get payed” by the insurance company. Theres a limit of licences per (City!) district. Which means of you want to open a practice you most likely “buy” a licence from another doctor who closes his. Prices for this go up zo 100k €.
-Theres a huge, phonebook like, catalog(Leistungskatalog) of things a doctor will, or can, be payed for issued by THOSE companys. Meaning they decide whats worth paying how mutch. Then you have a budget for how much drugs you can subscribe per quarter. So if you treat Patients who need a lot of drugs, you can decide: Treat the guys right and blow my budget, meaning working for free the rest of the quarter or take a vacation. Or make it cheap as possible with worse drugs for all of them, which will not be effective and they come back with the same thing next quarter…
On top of that this catalog has a bigger update and patch frequency as a windows os.
But it comes even better: The companys only pay the doctors per quarter year. Meaning, you collect all things you’ve done for 3 months, looking up it’s number from the catalog, print it out and send it to the companys. Then they decide what they will pay and what not. And If you are lucky you get payed 2 months later. Ever heard of a Job where you get payed Squit for 6 months work and don’t even know how much you will get payed?
- Since the (stateforced) Quasi-Private insurancecompanys want to make profit, they of course try to pay as little as possible. In the end you can always get what you need – but it’s a fight for every cent. If you don’t have the nerves for that you will give in and pay yourself (Mostly they just say we pay half the bill). If you are old it’s even easier for them – they just try to sit it out until you die.
-As I mentioned before, theres no way arround the insurance. If you start a job your employer is required to proove to the authoritys that you are insured (By the way, Your employer has to pay your insurance company too). Which in my case lead to the following:
Until you are 26 years old and still in education, you are insured with your parents. Except if you have a job at the same time that earns you more than arround 400€ – then you have to insure yourself. My employee tells me to get insured – I call the company:
Me: Hi, I’m over the limit for being insured with my mum, I would like to insure independtly.
Clerk: Hm, but you are still in education(University)! You don’t have to!
Me: I’m pretty sure I have to – because of the earnings-limit.
Clerk: Let me check with my supervisor…………Yes you are right, I just copy your data and send you a letter for the banking-specifics.
Me: Ok,Thanks.
5 Min later, supervisor calls me back:
S: Hi this is the Supervisoor of XXXInsurance, we made a mistake – you don’t have to pay.
Me: That’s cool, I need every cent.
S: Glad to help you. Bye.
2 Years later I get a letter from the company:
Dear Mr.XXX
We gone over our data of the last two years and noticed that you are over the earning-limit. Since you didn’t insure yourself you were technically insured. Since that is not possible in Germany – we need you to re-insure yourself for the last 24 months.
Wait a minute, re-insure? What is that supposed to mean? Right. It means pay us 24 months worth 16% of your paycheck. I called a lot of lawers. No Chance. But the companys Bank offered me a CREDIT
what an coincidence….Did I mention I wasn’t even visiting a doctor for 5 years?
2.Private Insurance
-Is not really different. Only difference: You pay cash first to the Doctor-and your company pays you back at the end of the month. Considering the hustle a doctor has to go through with an State-Insured patient- who do you think the Doctor likes more? Right. The one who pays cash.
This leads to what? Right. Private insured people walk past the line of 20 sick people, wave their private insurance card and go in front of the line. A little exagurrated but you get the picture, it manifests mostly when you want an appointment:
Patient: I need an appointment.
Clerk: Thers something free in 4 weeks.
Patient: Im private-insured.
Clerk: The doctor can see you in 2 hours.
No kidding. Saw it with my own eyes many times. But who could blame them, would you work for free?
Well thats just the tip of the ugly iceberg called state-healthcare. I hope I could help some people to get an insight of what bthat really means.

The more of this standing up to government I see, the prouder I am to be an American. I’m still disgusted with my government, but at least I don’t feel like I’ll be entirely alone when the crap hits the fan.

I have to say as a historian this has happened all before. Yet the elite survived because of the lack of knowledge just who they where. Computer has changed all that. The controlling elite will be a thing of the past a relic of a by gone era. A new exhibit in the museum of extinct species. The controlling elites mark in the history books will be noted as the era of toilet paper corporate propaganda. Flushed with down the toilet with their NWO ideals.

So here is the solution. When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4

Unfortunately, this man and others, in their fear and rage are unwittingly being used by the powerful economic interests who really have stolen our freedom already, and are shutting down a free and open discussion of what we need to do to actually fix the current health care system. They are screwing themselves without realizing it and serving the interests of those who profit from all of our misery. Insurance companies make their profit by denying, not providing us health care. Other countries have been able to choose much better health care systems that they are mostly happy with. There is no perfect system, but we can’t even have an open discussion. The word ’socialized medicine’, invented by a PR firm in the 40’s to scare people about FDR’s (or Truman’s?) proposed reforms, gets thrown out and people freak, not realizing that many of them already are under government operated health care and it’s working fine (veterans, seniors, Washington politicians, even Republicans). Some protesters even ignorantly say, “I don’t want the government messing with my Medicare!”, not realizing it’s already a government program. Democracy is being shut down by intimidation in the name of patriotism.
Here’s an interview with a reporter (link below) who checked out for himself, by going and using health care systems in other countries, to see what the pros and cons are. Don’t allow yourself to be misinformed and manipulated by right wing talk show hosts and shills for insurance and drug companies. Find out for yourself.

It’s actually much simpler than that.
Either you want the government to take care of you, or you don’t.
You believe your health is your own responsibility, or you’re willing to trade your liberty for security.
You are a either a shepherd or you are a sheep. (Or, you can run for office and become a wolf.)
You don’t have to read/interpret 1000 pages of legalese to know it’s bad for you, you just have to know that the government commonly screws you in the name of helping you, and anything that big and subject to interpretation is sure to screw you again. Probably by design, but at a minimum through the Law of Unintended Consequences.
Don’t demonize free market radio hosts and then counter what they say with an article from government subsidized National Proletariat Radio; you won’t gain many followers, at least on this site, trolls notwithstanding.
By the way, I’m a veteran, eligible for VA care, who never has and never will use the available “benefits” because I don’t want them to kill me. Do a Google search for “VA colonoscopies” for a quick example of government health care in action, or ask a Native American about Uncle Sugar’s “free” health care.
