Video released 05/21/09 shows a burly King County sheriff’s deputy slamming a man into a tiled wall earlier this month in what a sheriff’s spokesman said was “a tragic accident.” A lawyer for the family of 29-year-old Christopher Harris said the video and witness accounts show the Edmonds restaurant worker was a victim of excessive force by Deputy Matthew Paul, 26. As of late Thursday, Harris remained comatose and in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center, said Todd Keeling, his stepfather.

There is no justice for the innocent against thug cops who abuse the citizens. Its time to start wearing a vest and sidearm because this is the only way to prevent them from severely hurting or killing you. I am sorry but this is a classic case of police brutality. I know you have seen the video. Was he running when the 278 pound officer ran into this 170 pound boy? No. For you to call this just an accident tells us as people that you have failed us. You have been “Elected” to protect and serve us, the people. Not some almost three hundred pound ape that likes to go around and shove people into walls breaking their skull and putting them into a coma. Do you know what the survival rate of injuries like this are? Not very high let me tell you. I did vote for you but this whole fiasco is giving me second thoughts. There is no excuse for police brutality no matter if Americans let this situation get to where it is. The fact is, that you should be able to expect responsible behavior from the police without having to constantly remind them and fight them. They should be accountable and answerable to the law. They are not the law. The law is THE LAW. Every human being is under it, police are no exception. That cop needs punishing big time. The police must learn that they have a duty of care and that they cannot just ram the heck out of a man who was not a threat. He would have been better to tazer him than break his neck against the damn wall.
You guys are going to have to protect yourselves against this kind of thing. Go in groups, work out, stay fit, know self defense and carry authority. Project strength, not aggression.

If you read the article about this story posted on PrisonPlanet.com, there is a comment from someone who says he worked with Chris (the guy in the coma). He said the police failed to identify themselves at first; they just started running after him, hence his running away. Once they yelled, “Police! Stop!” he stopped running, as you see in the video right before he was body-slammed.

The problem is, it’s cops overseeing cops. There’s no other oversight. We The People are the oversight now due to the prevalence of personal camcorders (on cell phones, flip cameras, etc.) and the ability to post stuff to the internet and get the information out that otherwise would be suppressed. When you have “internal investigations”, cops checking out their own guys, does anyone think true justice will ever be served? They’ll do the minimum they have to to keep up appearances and to quell the initial outrage; no real punishment or justice will be meted out, I guarantee.

Seattle police ar totally corrupt, an officer named Christopher Hansen who was not on duty at the time ran a red light, speeding in his police car, and killed my 31 yr. old friend on his bicylce. He was thrown over 80 ft, hit a phone pole and died of massive head and chest injuries, the patrol car proceeded to crash into a business totally taking out a concrete wall. Only months before this same officer ran a red light and crashed into a mother and daughter seriously injuring them. He got paid leave and is most likely still driving aroung Seattle killing more people and noteven feeling remorse enough to appologize to the mother of the son he killed with his wreckless and illegal behavior. When you are an officer in Seattle, you can do no wrong in the eyes of the law. Total corruption. The lawyer that defended the dead cyclist had numerous threats made on her life during the trial.

The solution is simple – JOIN the police force.
Aren’t they are always hiring to beef up their army? Why not simply join to help ensure they do not overstep authority? The worst thing that can happen is you will be fired from the job for doing you job… maybe they will get irritated with your do-good attitude and shoot you in the face for not being part of “the team”, but guess what – you’re going to die anyway.
If you are currently unemployed or have some exotic form of making money why not join & help save us all? As a bonus – I think “they” might pay very well!

What happened to this young man is evidence enough as to why he ran. It appears that the deputy had plenty of time to confront with non violent means yet chose to blind side him with incredible force. It is time for the police to be held to a higher set of standards and accountability due to their supposedly higher level of training. The video suggests that this person was looking not to get away, but get out of the way.

You gather enough information to present to someone operating under the COLOR OF LAW (FBI agents, IRS agents, Police Officers, etc.) and you can leave their head spinning with lawsuits. Sure you might sit in jail every now and then, but believe me, when judges start ruling in your favor and you start suing the shitheads, it puts a little spring in your step. I think what really needs to be shown is how anyone else who is “just doing their job” would most likely be charged with manslaughter. Or if nothing else sued for negligence or strict liability. I mean if a garbage truck driver were to run someone over accidently while picking up trash, they will be charged with manslaughter even though they were “just doing their job.”

in my opinion cops should be held to an even higher standard of abiding by the laws since they’re supposed to enforce them. Sadly the shield the cops wear is a symbol that protects them, the uniform (color of law) behind the shield not you the public. It is departmental administrative regulations that they hide behind and protects them. Only after the internal investigations (rarely) have findings of a crime does it move to the courts, the cop is placed on admin. leave with pay ect., the jury is picked by the DA that works for the same city and can if possible stacked with cops, family of cops, friends of cops.
The cop stopped being a cop the moment he committed the felonious assault and attempted murder. He is a criminal. He should be in jail printed and charged till that happens in cases like this public rage will build and when they find one with his head bashed in, it will be because he accidentally assaulted someones ball bat with is face repeatedly. The captain is a co conspirator in attempted murder and obstructing justice.

The recent actions taken by Deputy Matthew Paul toward the citizen Christopher Harris which resulted in his current comatose state were unnecessary, unconscionable, and avoidable. Seeing spokesperson John Urquhart on KOMO Channel 4 news state that what happened to Mr. Harris was an accident makes your office appear out of touch, and ignorant to the basic freedoms of the citizens of King County. Mr. Urquhart’s claim that there was probable cause to detain Mr. Harris does not excuse the brutality that is evident in the video shown on KOMO. It would go a long way if the King County Sheriffs office admitted that Deputy Paul’s actions are not condoned by the department and will be investigated fully and honestly. Instead we get poor excuses and attempted legal cover. The King County Sheriff’s office has brought shame on themselves and the County of King through the actions of Deputy Paul and the subsequent attempt to dismiss his actions as appropriate and necessary.
The citizen’s of King County, the State of Washington, and the United States as a whole are increasingly becoming aware of the often brutal treatment of citizens by local, state and national law enforcement. The obvious fact that your office has attempted to dismiss this incident as a “tragic accident” is simply more proof that your office is out of touch with your citizenry, your laws, and most of all your responsibility to protect and serve. I hope this incident opens your eyes to the major disconnect that exists between your department and the justice that your citizens deserve. I can only hope that if criminal penalties are not enacted to deal with this situation, that there is a major financial verdict passed against King County which will “spur” the changes needed in the way you treat your citizens.

Unjustifiable. Let’s look at it this way. Someone breaks into your house, you chase down a guy who you think did it to stop him, so that police can get to him. Cops are not above the law, if this would be the charge for a citizen this should be the charge for the so called officer. They like to think that there are two different sets of rules, and laws… laws for civilians and laws for police and other government memebers, but this is not the case but is how they have acted for quite some time now. I remember speaking with an old timer who emigrated from Germany, and I asked him why they didn’t have the death penalty or overcrowded prisons. His answer surprised me. The example he gave was the crime of rape. He said that it was understood among men in the victim’s family what needed to be done. The same went for murder. It was not a matter that concerned the State, and people knew this.
I don’t know if this is true today. I doubt it, but it was definitely true for sometime during the 20th century.

Clearly excessive force was used where a simple stop and questioning would have been the procedure. No weapons present or the cop would have had a weapon drawn. Kid wasn’t running nor was he defiant or menacing towards the officer.
The officer illegally presumed him guilty and acted in the same capacity as that of a criminal assaulting a citizen.
He should be charged, fired immediately and punished tyo the fullest extent of the law.

The only standard the police have is to hire cops that can be easily mind controlled. When you go to the acadenmy you are told it is us against them ( meaning citizens ) The recruits are told that the people cooking their meals ( usually convicts ) spit in their food. The younger recruits are encouraged to shave their head and try to look intimidating. Steroid use is rampant, but not addressed. I had a family member who was accepted into the academy. He left after two days after he saw what was going on. Most of the recruits had only a GED. They are not looking for the smart ones. You are asked not to associate with people who are not LE. Friday, May 22, Rapid City, MI……Between the hours of 2 pm and 8pm state and local police officers harassed drivers on a scale unseen to me in all my 25 years of driving. As a friend and I watched, police were pulling over vehicles for no apparent reason as fast and often as they could.
At first I was astonished, then appalled, then ANGRY. WE counted up to 100 cars within a couple hours before we became too upset at what we were witnessing. These cops would just get their lights turned off from one “traffic stop” and as soon as they were on the road again the lights came on and they pulled over the next car they saw. It was disgusting. I have been awake for several years now and I am fervently trying to wake up those around me-some listen, some don’t.
Since this incident I have vowed to myself, my family, my country and my God to work harder than ever to make others-including law enforcement officials-open their eyes to what is happening around us. Thank you to all who are fighting the good fight- I am with you!

This is tragic! It shouldn’t have happened, but the poor guy who ran tended to bring it on himself by running. I imagine these cops have people run, then stoop, then either run or resist arrest on them on a regular basis so I can’t blame the big cop for being heavy handed. He probably wasn’t able to see the sickening way the guy’s head hit the wall from his view point or as we saw it in a slower play mode on video. I hope the guy recovers. Bottom line, if the cops tell you to stop, stop! Don’t give them any reason to perceive you as a threat.
If you do as you are told and as you should, THEN you and your family have them by the balls. If you resist or run, your case is weaker and you open yourself to physical damage.

To add another note about Las Vegas Metro Police. I am retired from the military, and met a female cop while working on her internet issue. You know what she asked me, “How come I am not joining Metro Police”. Told her, How do you handle situations with folks that are nuts. You know what she told me… Majority of people hate cops. You just think of those people as being “scumbags” that shouldn’t even live. Right there and then, I decided that I would never be a cop. It’s funny though, because, while in the military, I believed in protecting myself and my country. Now it seems that one day, a lot of us Americans are going to have to protect our 2nd Amendment right from the cops. And maybe in counties that allow citizens to bear arms, maybe, citizens should start wearing bullet proof jackets and sidearms…

Yes sir, when I worked as an extradition officer out of Rawlins WY, I traveled through LV and RENO alot, those cops are just extensions of the mob, they even hated us and we were supposed to be on there side. I hated the Reno bastards, then we had some of them come down here to the coast during the storm aftermath ,(Katrina,) the Reno cops had that same degenerate attitude!
Some of my partners were scumbags and partly the reason I left them.
What you are describing is on purpose to demonize each side against the other, same way the military propagandizes the enemy to psych the troops into fighting viciously against the enemy of the day.

This reminds me of a story I read on Infowars a while back where some overeager, “well-meaning” citizen saw an old bearded homeless man sitting underneath a tree, not bothering anybody, and decided to call the cops so they could check up on his “health and safety”. Well, evidently, when he saw these big burly goons approaching, the homeless man got nervous and upset, apparently because of his having his “health and safety” checked on in the past and raised his hands to his face sort of to fend off any blows that may be coming his way. Needless to say, the law enforcement officers (LEOs) mistook his defensive move for a menacing one and barreled into him and started beating the dog shit out of him. Last I heard, during the pummeling, the old man’s arm accidentally brushed against one of the assaulting officers and I think they wanted to bring attempted murder charges against him and also because one of the officers broke his pinky while caving his face in. If he wasn’t lucky, he may sitting up in Leavenworth doing life and getting cornholed once in a while; and if he was, he may be pushing up daisies.

Look – police work is hard – the impartial application of the law is difficult when dealing with the absolute scum of society day in and day out – especially in a degenerated society like America. But you know what? If you can’t handle it, turn in your badge and gun and let someone who can step up.
There is no excuse for what that officer did to that man – especially since it was the WRONG guy! But even if that man was guilty of some crime, its not the cop’s job to sentence and punish him. Its his job to detain him safely and allow the investigators and courts figure out.
The problem is, good cops don’t get paid enough, they are constantly being challenged by vigilantes and just plain criminals within their own departments and are eventually pushed out of the force. What’s that leave us with? Utter total scum, meat heads on a power trip, armed with deadly weapons and protected from retribution and the exercise of self-defense by their badge.
Just like the military, the police, a noble enterprise, has been hijacked and turned into thugs for hire by the state – and the banksters and industrialists that own it.
Solution. E-mail that Sheriff’s office, be polite and articulate, and make them feel ashamed for the conduct of that officer, the failure of whatever training that officer went through, and the transgression against the people and their mission that was committed. The pressure DOES make a difference.

Sent two e-mails to King County’s Sheriff’s Office. sheriff@kingcounty.gov expressing my grief over the hit not only law enforcement took because of this meat head deputy’s actions, but the hit we took as a nation – it being on YouTube for the whole world to see.
You know, everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law – not in the mind of a meat head deputy.
If that deputy knew Harris was innocent would he have taken him down like that? The answer is no. And here we go, pretending that we live in an alternate universe where innocent until proven guilty doesn’t apply or isn’t realistic.

There is no evidence in the video that shows him running. In the interview with his father and brother they say he was running but they are parroting what the media is saying and I’m sure the media is saying what the sheriff’s pig force is telling them. The father and the brother were not at the scene and the man has been in coma since the attack and could not have given any account of what happened. So the only evidence is what is on the video and the pig’s report. Now if you are stupid enough to think that that fat bastard pig is telling the truth you are dumber that a bag of hair. Fire the son of a bitch. Arrest the fat bastard. Charge him with felonious assault and attempted murder. Lock his ass up and put him on trial. So imagine you were that guy, just taking a stroll minding your own business, thinking about what’s for dinner, etc and you happened to turn around and see a cop twice your size charging at you like a raging bull. I can guarantee that you (and probably 99% of people here) would probably nearly shit your pants in panic.
After all, just being caught off guard like that…you know, one minute your walking thinking happy thoughts and then the shock of looking over your shoulder and seeing a crazy ass pig charging at you with intent to hurt blazing in his crazed looking eyes. Wouldn’t you run too? I know I would, initially, just from the initial shock and panic and then I would probably stop when I am again capable of rational thought and wait for the cop to get to me so I can declare my innocence. In this case it ended badly for this “suspected perp”… too bad he wasn’t guilty of anything. He’s yet another victim of police brutality.

This was just too stupid on the cops part. He was probably angry because he had to run after the “suspect”. And to top it off, the video clearly shows the victim slowing down. For all the cop knew at the time he plowed this guy’s field, the guy may have been about to surrender. In any case, the “officer” was well within a couple of steps of the suspect and should have easily been able to finish closing the distance and grab him with something less likely to injure the victim. That SHOULD have been his goal, even with the assumptions and scant communication he had for “probable cause”. Long story short, even with probable cause and no gun used, you don’t get to slam people half your size into walls, fences or the ground without a visible danger to you or the public. It’s called “excessive force”.

Once again, the hindsight bias is obvious. Now, if you were a cop, who just talked to a store owner who pointed out someone who was just in a violent fight in his store, you would go after him. Now, if this guy was running from you, you would have to be STUPID to think he isn’t the guy you are looking for. The guy got slammed because he didn’t stop running until the cop was a couple steps away, and at full speed, it’d be pretty damn hard for a 270 pound man to stop dead in his tracks. Your bias against the media and the police is at the core of your interpretation of this situation, otherwise, you would see that it is this guys own fault that he is in a coma. The only other person you could place the blame on is the store owner, for pointing out the wrong person. The cop was just doing his job.

He was innocent of the crime the officers were on scene to investigate but it certainly appears that he was involved in another crime that led him to run.
Every day each and every one of us makes choices that lead us down some path. He presumably chose to buy drugs. He chose to run presumably because he did not want to be caught with drugs.
Did he deserve to be critically injured? No, but his choices and actions thereafter put him in a poor position. Wrong place, wrong time, terrible outcome.

I have delt with police in tacoma who said I tried to fight with them after pulling me over but took me off camera to talk to me.How does that make any sense?So i got a copy of the tape of course no proof because it didnt happen.The cop was pissed becouse i didnt bend over and suck his dick when he threatend me.Most seem to be controlling assholes.By the way I have not seen that take down technique by police before must be new.I hope that kid pulls through.

Hurting an innocent person is a crime. PERIOD.
This innocent person is in a coma, and may suffer lifelong from this.
Police have to be accountable, just as accountable as anyone else. Police are growing more and more brutal, and when it is a case of mistaken identity, it is a crime to assault an innocent person.
I’ll tell you this, if you can not handle the excitement, the dangers and the sorrows of police work, go work at a library. Police have to show restraint. Right or wrong I would like to know how this Cop feels about this and what happened. Does he have an attitude of ; Oh well,,,,, or does he really feel hurt over his decission making. I know the asshole on the vid said it was a tragic mistake and shows no sign of moral feeling other than the cop was doing his job within their so called guidelines. I guess what I’m getting to here is that I hope and pray that this Cop feels pain every day for what he did to this young man. On the other hand if he is feeling pain for his decission making I think the Lord will bring him comfort for his mistake and in the Lord’s time he will take this mans pain away. Nothing but RaTs – REVENUE and TYRANNY enforcement agents. I haven’t seen “To Protect and Serve” on the side of Police vehicles in over 20 years. They aren’t ‘Police MEN’ any longer, they are ‘Police OFFICERS’. They, as Federal/State/County/City Corporate Officers, enforce UCC (Uniform COMMERCIAL Code) codes and regulations ‘legally’ under color of law – not ‘lawfully’ under Common Law and in accordance with the sworn oaths they all have taken to “protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic”. Be very afraid good American Patriots because their enemies are each and every one of us. The average police/sheriff patrolmen are now even dressing as combat soldiers to match their attitudes of being at war with the American Citizenry. I’m even seeing 60 y/o school crossing guards dressed in black battle dress uniforms for pitty sake.
Their Academy basic training teaches them how to ‘trick’ us into giving up our rights in every encounter with us, so why wouldn’t the next logical step be for them to just disregard our rights all together. Their ELITE CLUB mentality of “us against them” has ingrained the view that we are all inferiors and not worthy of basic human respect and dignity. Remember – in any encounter with a RaT, the only reason he/she is ever speaking to you is to figure out how to take from you or use you to take from someone else – whether it be your dignity, rights, wealth, freedom or even your safety/life. They are takers, not givers – unless you count grief and pain that is. Always warily consider that any encounter with RaTs could, like the flipping of a switch, whether rational or not, turn into a life or death situation. Learn your Constitutional Rights and invoke them in every situation involving RaTs.

This story is one of which the father (cop) is the trial, jury, and judge and he just sentenced this thug to death. Seems the cop in this vid was trial and he the jury found him guilty, and he the judge sentenced him to near death or maybe death. I do hope this guy makes it out of the coma.
