Even as Greece awakened Monday to relative calm following eight days of rioting by outraged youths, French officials were moving to placate protesting students amid rising fears that violence could break out across France. Given the defiant nature of French student protests over the years — including weeks of violent demonstrations over a new youth labor contract in 2006 — concern is growing in France that the dismal economic outlook could push the current anti-reform protests into the kind of wild insurrection that has rocked Greece.

“What we saw in Greece is not beyond what could happen here in France,” warned former Socialist prime minister Laurent Fabius last Friday of the increasingly raucous student protests that closed about 100 French high schools last week. “When you have the economic depression and social despair we’re facing, all it takes is a spark.”
Although incidents of vandalism and clashes with police by protesting students have been limited so far — including ugly scuffling after youths showing support for demonstrators in Greece broke out on the Champs Elysées Friday night — Interior Minister Michèl Alliot-Marie has said authorities are “following the movement with attention.” Alliot-Marie noted “the climate is tense, (and) certain medium-sized cities have suffered damage” to structures during demonstrations.

Not sure how well informed you all are, but as of 5 hrs ago the HQ of the riot police building was attacked resulting 8 vehicles fire bombed, two offices had minor burn’s, the building itself suffered vrious damages. This obviously took place in Greece, the crowed was numbered at 50, the difference was that this time they all were wearing gas masks. I guess the stakes have risen.

I had the same experience too!!!
But they showed up in the middle of the night wearing pocket protectors and taser guns.
They took me to their Microsoft headquarters and implanted me with a satanchip.
When I came home I found Vista installed on my computer and I am unable to uninstall it.
Everytime I walk into a department store, the scanners display my credit score and security escorts me back out.
My life has become pure hell, I am sorry to hear you were abducted too.

Hey all , soon there’ll be delocalisations in France , thousands of people fired from their jobs , they have bills to pay , they need to eat , to pay their clothes , what do you think ? in 2005 we burnt cars , in 2008 or 2009 they will do it again but more violently ? But don’t discount them too soon, you will be surprised what the average American will do when pushed to the edge – especially if the yuppies can’t get there daily carmel latte with a splash of lemon. I wonder how many of you out there in this vast and anonymous world actually have taken the time to wonder why and when ever this small nation named Greece (Hellenic Republic) is unstable that many nations quickly move to try and restore peace and stability as soon as possible.
You should be asking yourself’s that when NASA was about to launch the Mars project that they needed equivalent music which was to be transmitted from the first probe whilst orbiting mars in 2001.

Yes, riots can spread to France. Can riots spread to other countries? Yes, riots can spread to other countries. Will there be riots in other countries? Yes there will but not necessarily and exclusively as a result of the incident in Greece, there are too many reasons for riots.

In Germany the prices for staple food and other things have doubled since the introduction of the Euro paper currency in January 2002. In German public TV there are hardly any negative statements about the Euro or the European Union. And even as the people realize how expensive the European Union has become for them, the government and all established political parties still praise the advantages of the EU and the EU parlament. Critics of the European Union get repressed in the public discussion and broadcasting corporations. I really got the feeling to live in a EU dictatorship because there is no meaningful vote possible against to the EU in elections. You can believe me if I tell you, that the Germans can’t stop the EU anymore, they sit in a political prison. The only thing left for them is to pay ever more for the maintenance and expansion of the EU.
