Coincidence or art imitating life? The slow downward spiral towards fascism grabs some fast momentum with a bit of slight-of-hand propaganda from the new Batman movie, ‘Dark Knight.’ The recent push towards open martial law in Chicago is an eerie reflection of the Dark Knight production, which filmed many of its Gotham scenes in downtown Chicago last summer. In the film, the Joker (Heath Ledger) creates so much chaos and violence that the National Guard (Gotham National Guard) is brought in to suppress riots and restore order. During filming, extras were dressed up as national guard troops were seen by many Chicago natives acting in scenes and also providing ’security’ for the civilian extras during takes. Military helicopters, armored vehicles and hundreds of uniformed extras maneuvered in downtown Chicago for several days while their scenes were filmed, creating the atmosphere, albeit a fictional one, of open martial law and military code of conduct for all citizens.
One scene is described below:
‘The scene was an evacuation scene where pedestrians and prisoners were being evacuated from Gotham City. There were two bridges the pedestrians would be crossing.
The one on the left was for the National Guard and pedestrians. The bridge on the right is where the action took place.
The premise of the scene was for the pedestrians to be crossing when all of a sudden the National Guard and Gotham City Deparrment of Corrections officers move in. They create a wall to allow the prisoners to board the boat ahead of the pedestrians.
And another, this one from someone who witnessed some of the filming during the Chicago production.
‘After the interviews, we moved to a corner space in the building with huge windows so we could watch Chris direct a spectacular scene: Two National Guard helicopters carrying troops flying so low and close together over the Chicago River. Extras dressed as rifle-carrying National Guard troops were down on the streets.’
And now, a short one year later, we have the governor of Chicago calling for national guardsmen to be used to suppress violence and crime in the windy city.
‘The summer of 2008 will be remembered as especially violent. Blagojevich said there’s been a child shot nearly every day since June 26. Bringing in state troopers — even National Guard helicopters to high-crime areas — is still very much in the planning stages.
"It might be able to free up some resources that the Chicago police uses for capital needs, to be able, to maybe to, hire more police officers, or possibly ask some to come out of retirement, to put them into these violent zones, hot zones, where, clearly, I think, part of the challenge is that gangbangers outnumber police officers five to one,” Blagojevich said.’

Be it a Batman super villain or crips and bloods, the order out of chaos formula is in full effect. The image of troops goose stepping through the streets in Chicago was the scene of a major motion picture production, and now it will soon be in real time. Boots on the ground, in your face fascism is coming to a city near you, brought to you by the Pentagon planners and a few friendly Hollywood movies. What was fantasy is now reality, only we don’t have a real Batman to help us.

also, a little factoid: in a cut scene, the government releases a statement that a ryder truck parked in front of the hospital is what actually caused the explosion, and the ensuing fire brought the building down.

Oh, Please!
There’s a scene in this movie when Batman uses the public’s cellpones to spy and “protect” and Morgan Freeman’s character says, “this is wrong, as long as this machine is in here, I won’t be working here any longer”…. Even though Batman used it to do his “good” for the people, in the end, I felt that it had an Anti-Spy message..
This movie is not pro NWO.. you people are ridiculous..
I hate the NWO as much as the next guy but this is just too far.

Ok, ok, ok… I am all about pointing out predictive behavior programming, but Dark Knight isn’t the film that does it… see The Happening, where the plants attack humans for hurting the planet or Hellboy 2 where the elves are attacking mankind for destroying the planet and the son of the Devil is praised for killing the last “forest god”… the Dark Knight makes no mention, from my own recollection, of using the National Guard against the citizens… furthermore, Batman is one of the few comic books which illustrates police corruption and fights against it… I usually agree with most of Alex’s rants, but the description of what happens in the film is inaccurate…

This whole article is like saying “In this movie they said ‘boy it’s a hot one today’… CLEARLY global warming propaganda, fight the nwo.”

It’s a good movie and Heath Ledger redefines the Joker beautifully.
Yes, art and life imitate each other all the time. Yes, there are interesting
parallels to The Dark Knight and the recent talk by the Gov to use the
National Guard in Chicago to fight gang violence. However, if you one
cannot differentiate between this MOVIE and REAL threats to our civil
liberties… they don’t deserve those liberties.
I don’t think seeing actors on the bridges will make it more acceptable
for REAL soldiers with LIVE ammo goose stepping down Lake Shore Drive.

but I was wondering…
Is this Joker (Heath Ledger) supposed to be before the Jack Nicholson Joker? Because Jack’s character had died (supposedly) in the very first Batman movie.
Besides that…more distractions and MK-Ultra BS shoved down the public’s throat…if only people can rise up and get the parasites out of our govt.

#26 Go see it, everyone here is capable of seeing the difference between a movie and real life. The point the article makes is that it is massive conditioning. If you are going to condition people on a large scale, you just can tell them all they are being conditioned. Its sneaked in. If the people see it works well in a movie the brain is tricked with the info as being true, just as your eyes are tricked by CG animation. however, The dark knight is something else.. it’s a masterpiece and it is a work of art.
Response to Mike.. I understand that Jack’s Joker died in the first Batman… However, that was Tim Burton’s envision of Batman… The Dark Knight is Nolan’s envision which follows the Batman lore much more faithfully… As you know in the comics, The Joker doesn’t die so early in the saga but gets put into the mental hospital.. perhaps we’ll see more of him in a later sequel just as we saw Scarecrow in the beginning of the movie..
Anyway….This article is a load of BS… I’m all for liberty and anti-NWO… but ever since these message boards went up, I’ve realized how insane some of you people are. You give this movement a bad name..

Saw the movie today and loved it.
I usually see the propaganda in everything but not this time, sorry Mr. Allen. There was no ‘martial law’ to the police presence in the film. There were only going after the Joker, Batman, or both. This article is merely an exercise in paranoia. Even if you’re delusioned enough to believe that ‘The Dark Knight’ is shrouded in a globalist agenda, then the “propaganda” will have no effect on you and you can feel free to enjoy the movie free of any attempted brainwashing.

Ethan Allen if you actually watched the film you’d realize the National guard was utterly useless against the joker, and the police turned out being crocked just as any other compartmentalized organization (as joker tells us mid way through film), they plan things, but joker just does things *so he says*, and at the end Batman beating down SWAT teams left and right, and what not (trying to not spoil much here). Plus the film has more of a ery feel from the 1930’s when the comic was written, with the mafia and the corruption on all levels of human Psyche has nothing to do with overall. In the end Batman becomes a fugitive (watch the film to see why).
The Joker just plays with the peoples greed and evil that the emit and forces it back at them in a weird sadistic way, plus the joker in the film is THE “joker” and Heath Ledger (RIP) did one of t he best acting roles I ever seen in a western film. I prefer Asian films *HK cinima* though, but this film takes the cake at being one of the best western films ever made, its one of the most complete films ever.

In all honesty, I believe this author thought he could get away with writing this unprofessional article by exploiting both the popularity of this movie and the NWO conspiracy community’s fears. If perhaps this article attempted to do a meticulous analysis of Kubrick’s film, Eyes Wide Shut, and outlined the occult themes in it, I would not mind. Or any film for that matter as long as it was well argued. This, however, is embarrassing to read. This is a stone’s throw away from an Illuminati paranoid crying foul every time he sees the sun in a movie.
Perhaps this film is the work of propaganda, I don’t know. This article certainly didn’t help me make my decision. If anything, go see the movie to see Heath Ledger’s performance. You maybe see acting of that quality every couple of years.

I think there is too much reading into everything around some people. It’s a movie, we don’t have a martial law at present so let’s not jump into conclusions, personally I think there are more interesting articles that could be posted that would benefit the public than some movie that MIGHT have dark undertones which MIGHT reflect martial law which MIGHT happen of MIGHT not. If you have an article from a known media center which says Batman is a foretaste of things to come because…… than post that but stop with all these imaginary believes. Last I checked, Chicago (or any US city) does not have a governor. They have a mayor. His name is Richard Daley. Maybe you’ve heard of him. He’s kind of a big deal. The governor of which you speak of is for the State of Illinois, not the State of Chicago. His name is Blago-something or other. Or if you prefer, Helmet Head. You know, good reporting requires understanding the basics, of which this writer clearly does not know. I am all for uncovering facts and getting to the roots to how we are being attacked from all angles from the powers that be. But, sometimes things do coincide, odd though they may be and paranoia is just that, paranoia. I wouldn’t give the governor THAT much credit for being so crafty as to linking the two together. And the question of it being coincidence or art imitating life? It’s both. It’s coincidence that the governor just announced the National Guard thing the same day as opening day. Perhaps in some sinister way he planned it that way. But, again I don’t think he’s that sharp. People are targeting him for indictment in case you didn’t know. At the same time, this art piece is imitating the reality we are slipping into. Leaders often take ideas that are laying around and through them up there to see what sticks. Martial Law sticks really well and sends a message. People pay attention b/c it commands a lot of attention. Plus, on the big screen it sends a powerful message. The big question, however, is not are we slowly slipping into martial law, but rather what do we do when it’s here? And I have to say, barring some new attack, we are heading in the right direction, slow though it may be. Mind you, it’s been 7 long years to get to where we are at now, things won’t change overnight, but they are changing. People are standing up and rising. And taking our freedoms back!

I don’t know about “Dark Knight” being prophetic because I haven’t seen it yet. However, I do believe there are a lot of producers and directors in Hollywood who understand what is coming and try to warn the American people through their movies. I think “Demolition Man” was a good example. I think a lot of these people have inside knowledge and don’t like it anymore than you and I do but are also as unable to prevent it as we are. So, they try to subtly warn us without bring heat upon themselves in the only way they know how. Their movies!!!
There was also a movie made several years ago starring Kevin Cosner entitled “A Perfect World”. The story in the movie takes place in Texas and the time setting is just a few days before the Kennedy assassination in Dallas. I don’t think the location or time setting for the movie was a coincidence. Someone in Hollywood knew their history well.
I believe, as I believe the producers of this movie, that the murder of John Kennedy was the coup that struck down the last vestiges of our constitutional government and brought a whole new mindset to America (thank you Lydon). The subtle and underlying message in the film was the change in attitude towards law enforcement that began at that time. Clint Eastwood played an old school Texas Ranger in pursuit of Cosner’s character who had broken out of prison. In the early 60’s policemen were commonly referred to as “peace officers” and military styled SWAT units were unheard of.
At the end of the movie Cosner’s character is needlessly and ruthlessly killed by an FBI agent with a high powered rifle which outraged Eastwood (the Ranger). The killing reflects todays attitude where police are no longer “peace officers” but are “law enforcement officers” many of which are highly trained in military tactics. Hugh difference. Of course the difference in the frequency and nature of crime these days seems to justify this kind of high handedness by law enforcement officials. Makes you wonder which came first. The chicken or the egg?
I’ve been watching all this unfold from my youth. Most of the time I didn’t know what to make of it except that something was changing for the worse. Today, I’m afraid before this is over we’re going to need a real hero. I love Batman. I grew up with Batman and other comic book heros. Yes, I think we’re going to need Batman!!

I can read articles like this. They will not make me any more skilled at survival. They will not prepare me. They wont help me pay for ammo. They wont teach me to survive. They wont help you protect yourelf and your family. I think It is time for a lot of us to move on from this site. Go to sites that teach you skills. Learn to shoot guns. Learn to make things. Learn skills you will need when the Country collapses. Being able to spot propaganda in movies will not do ANYTHING for you when they declare martial law. I think it time that I and a LOT of you regulars here go and BE PRODUCTIVE. Go pass out info the the sheeple. Help homeless. Learn skills. Start your own site like this. For me I have gotten all the information I can get from this site. I will not learn anything new here. All this place does is keep me busy from preparig for what will come. This isn’t about Batman, it’s about the sometimes subliminal, sometimes overt messages and images put into media intending to influence the audience to think or feel a certain way. Subconscious manipulation is an age old tactic used by the elite and social engineers. The fact that so many of you flock to defend your childhood heroes in deference to the information put forward only reinforces the power of public idols and imagery.
And yes, Chicago has a mayor not a governor. One little slip up on my part in the article. Then again, I work for a living and don’t have the luxury of some writers to sit around all day and write articles… or nitpick the living hell out of them. But thanks for reading either way.

However, if you say it’s not about Batman but instead about the subliminal messages, then why not use other movies to prove that argument. Using the National Guard scene from Dark Knight doesn’t support your argument very much..

I didn’t use other movies to highlight my point because other movies didn’t put national guard troops in the streets of the very city where they’re now talking about…. drum roll, please… putting national guard troops in the streets. It’s a connection that I thought need to be mentioned. If I or some other writer wanted to an entire film or book could be written about hidden messages and meanings behind idols, buildings, movies, music, etc. In fact, there’s a few I can think of right off the top of my head. One is Texxe Mars. He was on Alex’s show this week. There’s also Freeman, Jim Mars, Butch Paugh, or a dozen others. Lots of people out there trying to bring light to these hidden truths.
But I guess I’m the nut cause I bagged on Batman. Pfff… Hey, I’ve got glow in the dark Batman undies too, man. But when they call out the troops to help the caped crusader, and the message is broadcasted out to millions of people, the secret messages, whether they’re intended or not, should be highlighted and discussed.

Some of the imagery in the preview for The Watchmen was interesting wasn’t it? The release date of 3-6-9 was interesting as well. As has been pointed out, I thought Batman came close to saying some interesting things but was often contradictory. This seems to be fairly typical of movies today and is I suppose its own statement of “we know stuff is messed up, but we are confused and don’t know what to do about it.” We live in an age of irony and moral paralysis.

How about the FISA style action by batman with the cell phones allowing him to see images by sonar I believe. A little off from the real thing, but ironicly close….too close. I saw a Spade as a Spade when that part came up in the movie.

Without knowing that this was happening in Chicago (for real) I had my doubts that this movie, like almost all Summer Blockbusters, cements our views about real policy decisions and planning.

This is hardly subliminal or propaganda. The Dark Knight is SUPPOSED to be a reflection of post 9/11 America, and Batman represents a lot of the moral conflict. He means well, but this is truly a “dark knight” for his soul where he realises that everything he does, just makes things worse. Doing “the right thing” isn’t easy and he makes soul destroying decisions.
The film certainly doesn’t paint him out to be an angel – that’s the point.
It was BATMAN’S ways that made the jokers rise possible. It’s metaphor, and it’s not exactly hidden.

It’s funny, I recall hearing Alex commenting on how some of the guys in his studio were trying to cut out early to catch The Dark Knight. I suppose they did.
I recall Alex breaking news reports of plans underway in Chicago to utilize the National Guard to quell the level of crime in that city.
I recall witnessing one of the greatest performances from a soon-snuffed-out-by-big-pharma life, parading across a digital stage (wanna see me make that pencil disappear).
I read the article above, written NOT by Alex mind you, and there are some amazing cross-overs from the big screen to the real world.
I want to take a moment and disagree with so many of you foaming at the mouth; though, thankfully, to an extent, that is your right in this country. The article above isn’t about boycotting Nolan’s and Ledger’s art. It’s just a commentary.
The article is making a stark comment as to how our reality today is fit for a twisted comic. Facts are facts. Like some of the comments indicate, the government uses cell phones to track people. That is beyond dispute. Before you unleash a rabid response at me, I want you to take a hard look at the E911 rules. You can find them in the Code of Federal Regulations, here’s a citation for you: 47 C.F.R. § 20.18(h) (2005).
If you want government admission of usurping Sprint computers to trace American citizens, I suggest you read: United States v. Forest, 355 F.3d 942, 947 (6th Cir. 2004). Perhaps you would prefer a documented discussion about how the government uses “cell site data” to triangulate the positions of citizens: See In re Pen Register & Trap/Trace Device with Cell Site Location Auth., 396 F. Supp 2d 747, 755 (D. Tex. 2005). And don’t even get me started on vacuum cleaner surveillance and the FISA “compromise.”
Before you unleash any more of your ignorant writhing about “Alex and crew” or the “fat bozo,” take a long look in to the mirror. There are some truly cheap and disgusting insults being thrown around in this post–which even further points out just how clueless the people are above trying to put Alex down because, I guess, he’s against “freedom of the press.”

I think you are absolutely right when you say that “sometimes overt messages and images put into media intending to influence the audience to think or feel a certain way. Subconscious manipulation is an age old tactic used by the elite and social engineers.” After all, that’s what marketing and advertising is all about, manipulation. But, see, therein lies the problem. You have a forum and are pushing an idea as well. Your article may very well be dead on. But we don’t know for sure. In other words, no one can debate you on this point very well b/c it is possible to prove rightly or wrongly that Christopher Nolan intentionally put a martial law scene in the movie to prepare us or warn us that it is coming. For all we know, he put it in there because visually it makes for a very charged scene that gives one a visceral reaction–and that’s what a smart movie director does. His purpose is to draw you into the world on the screen. Yet, to extrapolate that there is a media conspiracy of manipulation is missing the point.
It seems to me that the greater point is that the idea of martial law is out there and is blaring. Actually, you and everyone else should be happy that it IS in the movie because it does set a precedent. It provides a major forum for people to see martial law in action, albeit in the fictional world of Gotham City. It gives them a moment to consider it and judge for themselves if they want it or not. Therefore, the movie becomes instructive. The same lesson can be learned from Bruce Willis’ movie, The Siege, which I might add was made back in 1998; which is 3 years prior to 9/11 or 10 years ago to given one perspective. So, martial law is NOT a new idea. It is just being manifested in a new way. The idea has been floating out there for awhile. Heck you could even look back to when Posse Comitatus was passed well over 100 years ago! The difference with the latest Batman movie, however, is that due to it’s popularity it puts the idea on the main stage so to speak. At the end of the day, like you I am sure people will realize that martial law is a horrible way to live and will reject it as an idea. And if that lesson comes in part thanks to Batman, then great! I say, thanks Caped Crusader!
On another note, you make a point that you work for a living and use that as an excuse for why you incorrectly pointed out that Chicago has a governor. To that, I say it’s sloppy. If you are going to take the time to say something as profound as you did, particularly to try and get a rise out of people (which you have done btw), you have to make sure your facts are accurate. Otherwise, there is less credence in your arguments. And really, is it asking too much to get the basics of US civil government correct? I don’t think so–especially, if your goal is to explain to us why our precious government is so important to maintain. That’s the least you could get right.
I will certainly give you credit though for bringing the notion up, as I still feel it is a worthwhile article that is interesting to contemplate particularly b/c of NSPD-51. And you generated some decent discussion on the matter even if it is all conjecture.

So when we see movies and tv programs seemingly mass conditioning us for future events (like martial law) I see a few possible explanations for why they’re occuring:
1. The Govt. who hopes to carry these actions out are demanding their insertion into the media via blackmail or some other form of coercion.
2. These images/content are the manifestation of our collective unconscious which can sense future events and make them available before they happen via all kind of art and media (see all of the 9/11 imagery that our culutre was rife with before 2001!)
3. It’s all mere coincidence. Just the randomness of the world appearing to form a pattern in our ever-pattern-searching minds.
4. The media creators are trying to warn us of possible events by placing specific events in their film/tv programs. Perhaps, they’re even trying to stop them from occurring by showing the possibilities to the public.

I think the author has missed something. The most loveable character in The Dark Knight is…The Joker. His violent, destructive chaos comes off as more attractive than the repressive, mainstream, think-alike behavior of the “good guys.” The best of the “good guys” – Harvey Dent – goes bad in a clear display of how power corrupts absolutely. Batman and The Joker are portrayed as equals, and only when people are given free choice APART FROM THE PRESSURES OF THE STATE – the scene where The Joker sets up the two ferries to be blown to bits – does reason prevail. This is not a pro-state film; it is an anti-State film. It’s more subtle, of course, than something like V for Vendetta or SpeedRacer, but it’s anti-State all the same.

Previous poster has obviously not come to grips with the reality of state-sponsored-terrorism, and is probably still under the impression that 9-11 was committed solely by a bunch of ‘cave dwellers’.

Of course it’s JUST a movie. I understand why most people that are awake would see this article as ridiculous– but you’re not taking into account how ABSOLUTELY DUMB other people are in this country. Seriously, watch the movie and decide for yourself what the true theme here is. I find it very surprising that infowars would post an article taking a stance AGAINST this movie. Nolan’s stories have very complex philosophical themes involved, and if anything, I would imagine that the Infowars would have sided WITH The Dark Knight if they truly understood the thematics that were introduced in this scene. The military had a plan, and the Joker turned it on it’s side. This is one of my biggest fears involving the NWO. Look at how they function. The are totally logic based: ORDER! They don’t believe in the random, creative (chaotic, if you will) portion of duality. They think everything can be controlled. Imagine what would happen if someone with of mindset similar to the Joker were to somehow hijack the NWO infrastructure, thus “turning the plan on it’s side.” Nolan understands this, and that’s what he tried to portray. Batman’s mentality represents the fact that you must move above all systems of order AND chaos to effectively do what seems absolutely wrong, yet is the only way to the light.

I liked the movie although not as much as the previous movie. However the scene where Batman used the cell phone tech to spy put me on edge. Although it is a movie and I would trust Batman if he had that tech in a fictional world, I dont know of any honest people in the real world I could trust with that type of tech. It just is too able to be abused . I do like how Batman takes out some of the swat/tact team in the movie because he knows they are so brainwashed he will not be able to stop them from making some mistakes. See the movie for further info , I dont want to give away anything. I think people should keep trying to stop this spy program on phones,e-mail etc by getting active however they can peacefully through the infowar. I did really like the Jokers jokes in the movie. Enjoy the movie but as take away the good and notice the bad. I think in response to the article it is possible that the message was put in the movie as a warning perhaps. Take care.

Read Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns” and “The Dark Night Strikes Back;” Batman essentially single-handedly takes down an eerie NWO-type fascist American dictatorship government in the twilight of his years. He even is able to defeat their duped “champion” Superman.
Some of the stuff in these two graphic novels are profoundly prophetic.

The last 30 or so minutes of the movie was really slow and had a terrible plot line. Then there were a few interesting scenes that had to do with what is happening in America today. Batman used cell phones as sonar to map out people’s rooms and also listen in on them which I am sure they have been doing for years on us. Then of course the scene where the city is evacuated and there is the military and cops working together then lastly when the Joker is talking about how people follow the norms and values of everyone else but that if things really started to get bad you would see everyone change. I found that comment interesting because we would. Some people would panic, others would be frightened, some would follow and accept what ever the authorities told them while others would become leaders. Survival changes the rules as we all know and they are telling people in so many words get ready because its coming soon. Are you ready????????

I’m sorry Karolus but I don’t agree with the premise that The Dark Night is an occult propaganda film or with the article that it promotes martial law. I saw the movie yesterday & I have to say that if anything the premise of this film is that heroes aren’t the men who receive praise for their deeds in the eyes of the public, True heroes are the ones that a city,in the movie, or a country need not the ones they want. At the end of the movie batman accepts the role of villain to protect the memory of Harvey Dent. It’s this kind of self sacrifice we as patriots have to be willing to make because in the eyes of government propaganda we are terrorists for standing up for freedom. In fact one of the most profound statements against what is going on in this country can be found in this film. Batman creates a machine that can spy on anyone anywhere in the city to find the joker & wants his weapons maker played by Morgan Freeman to operate it. Morgan says thats too much power for anyone to have & says I will do this this once but consider this my resignation. I think that was pretty clear where the film maker stands on this issue. I have noticed several times on this website articles or comments about films shredding them as NWO propaganda when in fact I came away from the movie inspired to fight against the NWO because of the movies msg.

Ha ha ha, instead of laboring to describe scenes from hearsay, why not see the movie? I saw it. It’s awesome, and it’s not a vehicle of police state propaganda, plain and simple. We need things like the National Guard for real emergencies, let’s be honest. The problem isn’t that we have a National Guard or police, it’s that the government is constantly trying to think of ways to use these executive branch enforcement powers by flimsy pretext to take away our rights. In the movie, these were used (and this wasn’t a central theme, just a result) because the Joker was trashing the entire city. This was a “real” reason by the logic of the city. The problem isn’t that the president has the power of martial law, it’s that it’s probably going to be used because of a lie. Why aren’t we talking about movies that blatantly get bankrolled by the military to sell us on joining the armed forces (not for logical reasons, which I respect, but for psychologically predatory reasons, such as emotional ties to patriotism), like, oh, say, every Michael Bay movie ever made?
Just because there’s police being police in a movie doesn’t mean it’s a psy-op to push martial law.

First, Steve from Ohio, the movies took a dip in the Great Depression but were not hit nearly as hard as other industries. Basic consumer goods, particularly escapism type entertainment, do fairly well relative to other industries, particularly capital equipment, during economic hard times.
Second, I saw this movie today. It was good, and not a NWO movie. It justified a single shot spy program but there was no martial law. The sequences described in this article were part of an evacuation, not martial law. Making a big deal out of this is kind of silly. As for the spy program, it was used once and part of the “happy ending sequence” was the system self destructing. Obviously it isn’t hard enough against any form of spy program (particularly knowing what we know about the culprits of 9/11) but it was against it and the ultimate message was for its demise. The ultimate message of the movie is that even the best of politicians can be turned into two faced monsters by psychopaths (was partially disappointed there) and that people beat them by not becoming monsters themselves.
Over all, I think this was the best movie to come out of a comic book I’ve ever seen. Heath Ledger was spectacular as Joker (too bad he isn’t coming back) and there was actually some substance to the film. I’m not saying this was a deep and spiritual movie, but compared to most crap it was great.

Sure It may just be a movie, but lets not forget the rocking chair scene from the ‘The Patriot’ (2000). Mel Gibson says “9 pounds, 11 ounces. That’s perfect, perfect.” Why is 9 pounds and 11 ounces the perfect weight for a rocking chair and why does it collapse and get destroyed moments later?

Stupid is exactly what I was thinking when I read your comment. Their analysis is spot on as usual. The tactics being outlined here are the same ones used in all other aspects of the creeping martial law state. The movie portrays the military being used within an America city to “help” citizens fight crime, then we automatically accept it the next time we see it happening for real. The reasoning for why a military presence is acceptable within American cities has already been planted in your mind.
The bottom line here Dissapointed is that you clearly demonstrate the inability of our culture to critically analyze situations for what they are. I’m sure that someone like you has seen some of the biggest block busters of the last year….. Think back to Transformers, Iron Man, The Hulk all those movies have tried further erode our image of what the military role is in our world. The military used to be a very separate entity, for good reason. Now these movies would have us all believe that it’s for the good of us all that the military be deployed in our cities and defense contractors have access to every sector of our society.

this might be a movie…but one time, i heard someone say, and that someone was like a politician, a big name, just can’t remember his name or face….he said “if you want reality, just go and watch a movie” and that lets me know, that when they make movies, sometimes they throw things in there, directly or indirectly, of post events or current events, besides Batman Begins, this movie looks to be one of the good batman movies, and the joker, it’s a more crazy, cinical and weird funny…i always liked joker characters, just cause he’s a clown, and makes me laugh, and make stupid remarks that are actually funny. this is besides the point of course, but, i take some movies very serious, like the movie BUG, they do mention Mind Control (MK Ultra), which was used by CIA/Goverment to mess with people’s mind….Martial Law is some real shit, when violence gets out of control, or when disasters happen like Katrina, IOWA Floods, Peaceful Protesters asking questions and demanding answers, that is when Martial Law shows up, and want to crush the people, “maintain order” when in reality, Order needs to be establish from the inside first, if everything was fine and cool, no one would protest, no one would go and yell that 9/11 was an inside job, or Stop the war against iraq or stop trying to test Iran,…obviously, either the system will recover and we can go on to live a good life, or it will collapse entirely, and the next depression will set in, which will bring martial law to the fullest, just like in this movie. meanwhile, im gonna sit back, collect all info from all sides and believe what i know it’s right, and when i have free time over here in freaking iraq, im gonna watch a movie, cause i might, might learn something. The problem with Chicago is they set themselves up for failure. They mandated equal manpower for all 25 districts (precincts (sp?)). I don’t know if this was motivated by political correctness, political expediency, or plain old stupidity. I am not sure when this policy started, but it was alive and well from 1992 – 1999. Some of you people need to get a life. Just got home from seeing the Dark Knight. Good to great movie, will definitely see it again.
The issue of freedom versus security is discussed in this film but not reinforcing one view over the other. It is left quite open-ended.
I can understand the “conditioning” viewpoint espoused in the article however ask yourself this question; if you were making a movie with a similar situation in it would you
A) Have a scene in it where the National Guard is brought in because that is what may happen in real life (and movies being an exaggeration of real life), or
B) Not include a martial law scene because that would further the NWO agenda even though it is a more logical sequence to have in the movie?
It is a chicken/egg thing. I don’t think this movie was intentionally made with the purpose of furthering any agendas, but for the purpose of entertainment and creating a darker homage to a great story than the previous incarnations (with Kilmer and Clooney) did.
Anyway I’d also like to say for those who see a conflict between protesting and living life, they can be one and the same. I like the idea of Jello Biafra to turn protest into a carnival atmosphere rather than a militant movement and try and have fun and reinforcing our own lives and values at the same time as we fight theirs. Otherwise we just end up fighting theirs and become what we are fighting.

Just like the Joker said in that movie: “Insanity is just like gravity…. all it takes is a little push”. Some of you people are taking the conspiracy stuff wayyyyyyyyyy too far.
Its a movie… not a newscast. If anything, this movie has an anti police state / government message. The cops were corrupt. The national guard was inept and didn’t help anything. Even the scenes where batman uses everyone’s cell phones as sonars had an anti-spy message: “As long as this machine is at Wayne Enterprises, I won’t be”
Perhaps if the movie showed the National Guard coming in and saving the day by confiscating guns and putting everyone in makeshift prisons for the citizens’ “safety” then arresting/killing the Joker the mob and the vigilante Batman for good measure, you could say it was a big propaganda piece. Too bad that is not what happened.
Bottom line: Its a great movie, take a break from being paranoid about everything for 2 hours and just go see the damn movie… you won’t be disappointed.

I love Infowars and Alex Jones but this post is completely off the wall. Chris Nolan is not a NWO agent – just a fantastic director who is trying to ENTERTAIN people. You see, Chris’s whole goal was to paint a gritty and REALISTIC picture of the world of Batman. He is attempting to be true to the source material (the comics) and create a situation where Gotham is responding REALISTICALLY to both Batman’s decisions and the Joker’s. The national guard issue was a realistic issue and there is no interpretation put on whether it is a correct or incorrect move. This isn’t the topic of concern of the movie. The movie’s message was PHILOSOPHICAL in nature (under the category of ETHICS) and not political. Not every piece of art coming out to day was crafted conspiritorially. Its a fantastic Batman movie – nothing more. The cell phone spying was not promoted but rather left up for the viewer to decide – as were the moral questions. The person writing this article completely missed the point of the film which had multiple moral systems competing against one another and followed out to their logical conclusion. Some of the posts on here are even more of a joke. Consider this quote from a poster down below:

Uh, no, that is not what the Dark Knight represents. “The dark knight” is a name given to Batman in some of the earliest comics (written in like the 40s or so) in order to give the reader the picture of Batman’s behavior being representative of a lone knight (notice his new suit looked like a knight’s armor, his tank turned into a motorcycle that looked much like a horse, etc.). You see Chris Nolan is an artist concerned with making artful entertainment….look at all of his films: Following, Insomnia, Memento, Batman Begins, The Presteige, and The Dark Knight. Has this man ever promoted a political agenda? No. Does he ever have secret occult messages in his films? No.
While some films do fit the mold of propaganda films – this one doesn’t. Its just a great film and one that deserves multiple viewings for its thought provoking philosophical analysis. Not everything is part of the conspiracy. Some things really just are as they seem and in this case, it is simply a great crime drama.

Yeah, movie propaganda, what are we to do, boycott it or acknowledge it and move on? Sparing some time for entertainment is okay, to a point of course. Recently I was watching this new shooter movie appropriately called “shoot em up” and the whole movie is strangely pushing anti gun ideals on people, as if only the stupid or the murderous have a need or use for guns. One scene shows a security gaurd tied up while a gun fight is going on. The main character looks at the security gaurd, bound to his chair, and says “how much do you like your second amendment now?”
The basis of the movie was a gun company trying to kill of a man who would be president who was determined to pass gun ban laws. The movie was obviously on the side of gun grabbers.
for a comic book style movie i say its a 3 out of 5, but with the subtle propaganda your better off losing brain cells from sniffing glue. Lots of entertaining distractions out there, movies, video games, recreational drugs, lets not become distracted by the bread and circus of the new world order.

I’m not sure what this article is trying to say. I think The Dark Knight looks like a fantastic film and I can’t wait to see it. If you’re looking for propaganda there are far worse movies out there – Ironman, for example, very casually glorifies warmongering.
As for the depiction of martial law in the film, this is merely reflecting reality.

What some of you guys are reading into this movie, and the NWO, is way off base in my opinion. I had posted earlier comments before I had seen the film. I saw it yesterday and thought it was great, and I normally don’t enjoy the comic book hero movies that so many of you do. I understand children look up to “heroes”, but I later saw them conveying the message, that in order to achieve great things in life/existence, you had to be a mutant , or exceptionally human. But I digress, forget the NWO, who were the menace in the film? The mob. IT wasn’t NWO, it’s always been organized crime, and that’s what the Bush administration is. It’s a crime syndicate. If they wanted martial law, it would have been implemented right after the events of 911. What better a time, in my opinion. I don’t buy into this NWO rhetoric. But I do think we could all unite around the idea of getting an attorney general to start prosecutions for the Bush administration, and its crimes, that I know most of you would agree with, even if you say he’s a puppet. No American on earth would read what Im saying and be idiotic enough to belive my words translate into implimenting or condoning wrong doing because the words literally tell you….the reader, that any man or woman who shows up at your door and demands yopu give up your American freedoms to support terrorism, and death is flat out wrong!
