Comedian Dave Chappelle wished Donald Trump luck in his upcoming presidency during a Saturday Night Live monologue that has now gone viral.

“Before I go, I do want to say one thing and this is not a joke, but I think it’s important that I say this because they’re marching up the street right now as we speak,” Chappelle said.

Recalling a recent party he’d attended at the White House, the famed comic stated that he had hope for the future given how far the country has come.

“So, in that spirit, I’m wishing Donald Trump luck,” he said. “And I’m going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one, too.”

Despite his comments being controversial for a Hollywood comic, Chappelle has been met with mostly praise for his attempts at quelling tensions.

Meanwhile, others comedians such as Amy Schumer have gone the opposite route by purposely spreading a fake image of Trump.
