Decider-Commander Goes to Iowa

It makes sense, considering Bush’s concerted effort to destroy the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
“U.S. President George Bush will visit the Midwest state of Iowa Thursday to inspect damage from major flooding along the Mississippi River,” reports Voice of America, the official voice of the U.S. government. “Federal officials briefed the president on efforts to shore-up levees along the Mississippi River and help those displaced by the flooding.”
As Paul Joseph Watson notes, some of those “displaced” would argue that the government is not exactly helping them. “Shocking footage out of Cedar Rapids Iowa shows cops and government employee ’strike teams’ breaking into houses of flood victims and threatening anyone who questions their actions in complete violation of the 4th amendment right that protects against unlawful search and seizure,” writes Watson. “No warrant, no knock home invasions are being carried out on the flimsy pretext of ‘checking for structural damage’ as cops harass and threaten with arrest people who refuse to have their homes ransacked by thugs in uniforms.”
It’s all part of the FEMA and Ministry of Homeland Security way of doing things. Remember when DHS spokesman John Erickson told the Indy Star residents of Indiana are basically on their own? In Iowa, that’s not the case, as local and state government are preventing residents from acting on their own. Iowa is under martial law, although not officially declared. It looks like martial law to those folks confronted by armed “strike teams” and checkpoints.
“In Cedar Rapids, residents were allowed to return home temporarily to retrieve keepsakes and other items Sunday, but authorities said Monday that strike teams had determined the neighborhoods were no longer safe, even for a quick visit,” CNN reported.
Keepsakes — as defined by government.
If neighborhoods are “no longer safe, even for a quick visit,” how long will it be before FEMA brings in the formaldehyde trailers? It looks like the feds will now get involved as the decider-commander is ready to fly in for public relations stunt, excuse me “inspection.” Bush, speaking to the script-reading corporate media, says “there has been close coordination between federal and state authorities.” In other words, the residents of Iowa and other flood ravaged states need to start worrying even more than they are already.
“I fully understand people are upset when they lose their home. A person’s home is their most valued possession,” Bush told the Associated Press.
No, George. It’s not a home. It’s a “keepsake.”
“Federal Emergency Management Agency officials say they are dealing proactively with the Midwest flooding because of lessons learned from failures during Hurricane Katrina, as President Bush promised quick relief to the thousands affected,” reports the Washington Times. “A lot of people are going to be wondering, is there short-term help for housing? And there is, and we’ll provide that help,” declared the commander-decider. Get ready for another toxic trailer fiasco.
Lessons learned from Katrina?
Not surprisingly, instead of helping flood stricken residents, FEMA has placed needed supplies out of the way in St. Louis. “FEMA positioned supplies and personnel north of St. Louis, even though the city is south of the most severe flooding and has not yet had any problems, said Robert Powers, FEMA’s deputy assistant administrator for disaster operations…. Mr. Powers said that FEMA’s planning in St. Louis is indicative of the change in the agency’s response after failing to deal effectively with Katrina in 2005.”

“I, unfortunately, have been to too many disasters as president,” said Bush. “But one thing I’ve always learned is that the American citizen can overcome these disasters. And life, while it may seem dim at this point in time, can always be better because of the resiliency and care of our citizens.”
In other words, Bush has occupied the White House while disasters exacerbated or created by the government have unfolded, from the deliberate “mishandling” of Katrina to the Iraq invasion and occupation. Bush and his neocon managers care so much for “our citizens” they have virtually hobbled the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Bush so trusts and respects the citizenry, he oversaw the revision of the Insurrection Act, essentially killing off Posse Comitatus, and the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 and the Military Commissions Act of 2006. Oh, let’s not forget PDD51, National Security Presidential Directive 51. It allows Bush to fully realize his role as the decider-commander and chuck Congress and the resilient (read, continually besieged by government) American citizen by the way side. For some reason, the corporate media did not find this directive worthy of much reportage.
Floods in the Midwest of course are not of the magnitude required to impose “continuity of government” — and government is perpetually obsessed with its own continuity above all else — but they may provide yet another dry run for a larger, more catastrophic national emergency. Our rulers have promised one for some time now.
Meanwhile, “strike teams” are breaking into houses in Iowa and providing a glimpse of how things will be under PDD51. Checkpoints and roving gangs of government thugs armed with crowbars and weapons will become common enough after Bush and the neocons declare their national emergency and finally consolidate power under martial law.

Just another unconstitutional injustice carried out under the disguise of “protecting us!” This is a crime against common and decent people. Americans have always repaired and cleaned thier homes after disasters or inclement weather. First responders are allowed to help at the World Trade Center with the promise that the air is clean and non-toxic. They all get sick and are dying but people can not go to thier homes, inpsect them, start repairs or get things becuase it’s to dangerous from a flood!!! BULLs---!!! Martial Law training!! I wish that gentleman and the older woman would have SHOT one of those bastards for not letting them back into thier homes. What kind of country do we live in where you kept from your own home under the guise of protecting you? What bulls---! I live in Iowa City which has been affected by flooding and we are just a short drive from Cedar Rapids and the Mississippi, which is flooding also. Other than a curfew near the flood areas over the weekend from 8:30pm until 6:ooam, I have not seen nor heard of any strong arm tactics as described in this article. I’m sure there are a few exceptions, but this report is gravely exaggerated. There are not armed roaming bands of law enforcement groups breaking into people’s homes. This is not Katrina and officials are not behaving like the idiots in New Orleans. I wish there were a few more cops around to direct traffic at the flooded out intersections with detours. People just don’t know how to drive when their routine is disrupted.
Let’s hear from more people in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Ia. City and places directly affected by flooding. Perhaps I am a victim of underreporting and media deprivation. Otherwise, I am inclined to think this is one more example of sensationalist “reporting” that pops up on this website more than occassionally. Stick to the truth. Don’t hurt the truth movement by giving the enemy fodder for criticism.

Normal Police presence is enough (on the corners). For homes above water… this is completely unconstitutional, especially if the water level is going down, according to reasonable weather data.
I could see them checking id’s (where are you going, how long are you going to be there), but stopping people, and turning them away? Absurd.

These people need to start taking their rights seriously and start kicking these tyrants off their properties using their right to bare arms to back them up. If everyone said they would go out shooting before giving up their rights then the cops would stop But as long as they think there are more of them then you with more guns then you then they will continue to walk all over everybody. That’s why they are proactive about seizing all the peoples weapons in those situations.

That’s what I’m thinking also. When the elite do something they usually like to kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone. I think weather manipulation to cause the floods. Why? Well, who benefits? 1. This makes for a great distraction from the Scott McClellan book. 2. It can be used as an excuse for higher foods prices and lower food availability. 3. They get to drill and test our responses to martial law.

It is NOT up to Government to tell people what they can do. When it comes to protecting their own interests like Property.
Ask a Policeman if he has to protect you? His reposnse will be , ” My Job is to uphold the Law.”

For their safety? What? Adults are grown up and can make decisions of life & death all the time, but not now?

I do not believe these reports are exagerated. Being from Des Moines, I can tell you that Polk county cops think they can do whatever they want and the judges are worse. The cops are cry babies and the judges send you to halfway houses that they have a financial interest in.
Iowa cops suck and so do Iowa judges. They are school children with badges.

If I was dealing with this ignorance, I would simply put LARGE NO TRESPASSING signs around the property, followed by RED DANGER DO NOT ENTER TAPE connected between signs, followed by a large sign on the door of the house in quetion that states “HOUSE IS NOT OCCUPIED, DO NOT SEARCH, DO NOT ENTER, DO SO AT OWN RISK.” If they still insist on kicking in the front door, well honestly they should be very careful – sometimes people get seriously hurt trespassing where they have been specifically warned not to go.

Here’s the funny thing, or should i say sad? There are thousands of people locked out of their house, and only a handful of them stopping them. Hmmmm….I guess americans really have lost their courage. How long will you continue to live your life with blinders on? Does ANYONE see ANYTHING? If so, why do you still keep asking the same, crybaby questions, “Why won’t they let us into our house?” Why can’t we just go and get our things, or atleast see if they’re ok? I mean, are you kidding me? How many times will you be fooled by the same nonsense, I mean, common already. This is far beyond waking up and smelling the coffee, this is just downright despicable. I find it funny that there were mismanagement “lessons learned” from Katrina. Doesn’t anyone remember Hurricane Andrew in 1992 (while Sr. Bush was president)? You know, the biggest U.S. loss of life in our history…over 5000 people died…oh wait, the media didn’t report that. They also didn’t report the cover-up of ALLOWING all of those people to die and the REFUSAL of medical or and other assistance to the survivors by putting them under “quarantine.” I was the first person to sign up to take in Katrina survivors in Kansas City. But no one came…where did all those people from New Orleans go? Did they just disappear…quietly? Katrina’s aftermath wasn’t an accident. Neither was Andrew. Our government pretends to take care of our citizens when disaster strikes, but there’s always something that “wasn’t foreseen.” They are slowly allowing people to die…probably high-fiving each other when life-threatening disater strikes. They are allowing Lyme disease to overcome our entire population, while denying its existence in chronic form (you deny its existance and you don’t have to treat it-the CDC and WHO point of view). They allow flouride and aspartame to destroy our brains and will to fight back. We, as a population, are being systematically destroyed. It’s time to rise up! I wish I could…but I have Lyme disease.
