Outside a Maryland high school gym last Wednesday, sophomore Brandon Bennett got into a small altercation with a fellow student. It was after a basketball game and tempers were high, but the the two were separated by officials and students without much problem. Only then did things get really violent.
According to Julius Bennett, the student’s father, Deputy Anthony Lenzi fired a Taser at his son after being told twice by a senior officer it was not necessary.
“He left two puncture wounds just above his heart in his chest,” says Bennett. “And [Brandon] said to me that he was in quite a bit of pain because he could feel electric shocks going throughout his whole body.”
The father says he has written proof Sgt. Mathew Kempel twice ordered Lenzi to holster the weapon, but Lenzi fired anyway, hitting the teen in the chest.
“Brandon did absolutely nothing wrong,” says Bennett, “and there was no reason to use that type of force on my son.”
The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office says Lenzi has been reassigned to internal duties while authorities investigate the allegations. Bennett is hoping fair punishment is given.
“I will not be satisfied until I know that Deputy Lenzi will be in a position to never to this to anyone else’s child ever again.”

Had that been my Son, and I had been there to witness that unwarranted attack on him. I would be sitting in a jail cell, because I would have done to that Gestapo much more than what he had done to my Child. Unfortunately, in our Nation, with its screwed up Legal/Horse Shit System, when a Gestapo attacks you without Provable Cause “he/she is enforcing the Law” when you fight back against this form of Tyranny in self defense “its assault on a Royal Gestapo Officer” So I say sooner or later some of us are going to be confronted with this sort of abuse. This is just too much… We need to coordinate a “conspiracy free” (we need everyone on our side. too many ignore anything with insinuated darker objectives) movement to make tasers recognised for the deadly weapons they are… The kid didn’t die this time but the risk is huge, if the cop put a couple of 9mm rounds in the kid he would be tried facing attempted homicide, not just being reassigned until the bad press blows over.

I don’t think Mr. Officer is a real cop. Some of the wording in his posts and the unprofessional tone lead me to that conclusion. Here in central Texas, we are usually trained to use the tazer when people get physical with us or as an alternative to bullets. When used “properly” the tazer should save lives and prevent injuries to the Police and the Citizens they are dealing with. It is not proper to taze a person who is in hand cuffs or to make people get up off the ground or move faster. (or to shut up) There are some simple pressure points that can accomplish much of what some Police use the tazer for. Better applicant screening and defense tactics training would improve the situation. As it is though, most Police have to do their own training on their own time to practice take downs and defense tactics. The departments only offer sporadic certification training and refreshers once in a blue moon on dealing with physical confrontations. We need to practice every week ideally to work on technique and increase confidence. Even a simple rearrangement of tools on the belt can increase an Officers safety drastically.
Sorry to see so much abuse by cops out there. Most of us are not like that and we are as disgusted about it as you all. It simply makes all our efforts at community Policing go to waste.

I think its been a classic mistake of our forefathers when they instituted the phrase “investigate the ALLEIGATIONS”, I always thought there was something wrong with or judicial system when they have to investigate allegations of wrong doing, for example, Colin Ferguson shot eight people dead on a NY subway and wounded several others. Many of those who were called to testify at his pharsical trial clearly saw him do it and were subject to his “anger managment moment” so whats to investigate, they saw him shoot to kill, and kill and then saw him shoot at the rest of them without killing anymore then flee, what is there to investigate or for that matter have a long drawn out pharse of a trial tieing up courts and judges and lawyers and the DA’s office when it was a no brainer as to exactly what went down that day on the “L”????? I am sure that there will be many out there in Webland that agree and there will be those who start to hate on me for saying it but this kind of thing need not be an issue for the court other than to decide what sentance he should have got for his crimes. Why are we wasteing time and money and effort on trials that do not need to be tried. If you get caught doing it why is there any questions on whether or not your guilty???

Gabriel, you are right about the constitution. Any law that is conflict with the constitution is null and void. Hopefully people understand this and stand up for theirselves, even under threat of arrest. There was already a court case where a unlawful arrest was happening, the defendant resisted and it ended in the death of the officer. The court found in his favor, resisting an unlawful arrest is the right and responsibility of an individual even if it results in the officers death. I know some cops may read this, and be pissed. T.L. This is just a small bit of info. that may help you, but, it’ll definitely shed a bit more light on the lawful resistance of unlawful arrest… Look up a case that occurred in the early 1900’s known as BAD ELK V. STATE. This particular case involves the plaintiff resisting an unlawful arrest to the point of killing the officer. Long story short the plaintiff was aquitted on all charges including the wounding of a second officer. Furthermore, there’s also a book by the name of THE LAW AND THE TRAINED FIGHTER that every one should read. It can enlighten one on the steps that should be taken to defend yourself in court should you be put in that situation.

Sorry that my comment seemed to legitimize the Patriot Act. But remember that some of the worst sections of the law (sneak and peek, executive warrants, gagging of persons with knowledge of an investigation) have nothing to do with the definition of terrorism in the act (which is arguably far too broad). What this guy was describing in his post is terrorism, whether we have a Patriot Act or not. I saw a video on this website a few years ago in which a group of male cops were beating up a female peace protester and you could hear one of them on the video saying “I’m sick of this anti-Bush b***s***.” If thats not terrorism what is? The problem with these thugs now is they don’t care what the law says, they just do what they want and hide behind their badge. They only get in trouble when they get caught on video. They also have their own culture separate from the public (when one of them gets in trouble they all rally round him/her), and don’t even seem to think the way we do. How else could Officer Dave think that the use of pressure points is an acceptable alternative to tazing(see post 35).
Though the Patriot Act needs to be repealed ASAP, I don’t think it hurts to point out the hypocrisy of the people who claim that we need it to protect us from terrorists. If we want to restore the Constitution, it is that very hypocrisy that the Constitution was designed to guard against. As for being the most tyrannical piece of legislation in history, I think the Patriot Act has some pretty stiff competition from the Alien and Sedition Acts.

To All You Good Americans….I hear there are about 100 Million armed Americans more or less….Well, I think its time to make that 200 Million Well Armed Americans while we still can. If you don’t own a gun….go buy a few and lots of ammo and learn how to shoot….and if you know people that don’t have guns, buy some for them or convince them its their duty to get some for the protection of America…their family….friends…property…etc.

I work in law enforcement/corrections and I value people’s Constitutional rights. I took an oath when I was sworn in to defend these rights. I work with some who are too trigger happy and badge heavy and it’s these pricks that give me and other good officers a bad name. These egotistical pigs look for any and every opportunity to slam, taser, shoot, or induce pain on someone, whether he/she is a suspect or not.

Torture has always been described as a war crime. And those who torture in war, are considered war Criminals. Bush is considered a War Criminal on this fact alone. So is Michael B. Mukasey, Alberto R. Gonzales, John David Ashcroft, and many American Generals, and also many, many others. But there is a war at present on the American people. These police become War Criminals by using torture in this war, on American soil. One of the torture weapons being used presently is the Taser weapon. This taser weapon should be banned, and all who have used this tool of torture, should be rounded up, and prosecuted. Those who used this weapon should be branded war Criminals, and prosecuted accordingly. Those who used this weapon on someone, and that person had a heart attack and died, these War Criminals should be executed. Help stop police tyrany! In our town of Homer Alaska, our trigger happy lunatic Police shot and killed a petty criminal and his innocent child. There is a poll in our local newspaper on wether the Alaska dept. of law made the right decision in not filing criminal charges against the lunatic police. Deputy Lenzi is a former Maryland State Trooper. He was forced out after a little more than a year on the job. He was sent up for psych exams at least twice while a Trooper. He frequently drew his firearm when policy and common sense called for lesser response. He was eventually asked to resign from MSP. He later ended up as a Transportation Authority dispatcher and then somehow got with Queen Annes as a deputy. Obviously Queen Annes County didn’t do a proper background check or they simply ignored the results.

I have noticed that in a number of these reports the victims of abuse are either women ,children,or disabled I was raised to look out for weaker ones and protect them whenever possible from bullys like these asshole cops I for one hope people start to stand up and fight back
