Despite Stimulus Funds, States to Cut More Jobs

Eleven weeks after Congress settled on a stimulus package that provided $135 billion to limit layoffs in state governments, many states are finding that the funds are not enough and are moving to lay off thousands of public employees.

The governor of Massachusetts, who cut 1,000 positions late last year, just announced 250 layoffs, with more likely to come soon.
Arizona has already laid off 800 social service workers this year and is facing the likelihood of deeper cuts over the next two. The state no longer investigates all complaints of child or elder abuse.
“Don’t be a child or a vulnerable adult in Arizona,” said Tim Schmaltz of the Protecting Arizona’s Family Coalition.
The layoffs are one early indication of how the stimulus funding could be coming up short against the economic downturn. As the stimulus plan was being drawn up, there was agreement among the White House, congressional Democrats and many economists that a key goal was to keep states from making big layoffs at a time when 700,000 Americans were losing their jobs every month.
The House passed a stimulus bill with $87 billion in extra Medicaid funding for states, as well as $79 billion in “stabilization” money to plug gaps in states’ budgets for education and other areas.
But in the Senate, the stabilization funding was cut by $40 billion to secure the support of the three Republicans who were needed for a filibuster-proof 60 votes — Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia J. Snowe of Maine and Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania — as well as to gain the support of conservative Democrats such as Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska. The senators wanted to reduce the package to less than $800 billion, and several wanted to make room for a $70 billion patch of the alternative minimum tax.

instead of giving “our” money back to the people, borrowed or not, they show their true motives, if the federal reserve is printing money from nothing, why not distribute 1 million to each tax paying American Citizen and our economy wouldn’t be a problem, instead they want to back up the NWO and the building of the one-world-government…..bastards……

The only problem with that is, if the government gave everyone a million dollars, that might just motivate the average joe to quit their job, and all of production would stop. Well at least most of the work for hire folk. Truck drivers would stay at home instead of delivering the necessities that everyone is in need of such as food,water,clothing, ect. I guess they could let mexican truckers straight from mexico deliver the goods. Yikes!

Heaven forbid Congress didn’t get their toilet paper, and their Manhole covers on time! But one thing would be good if the truckers Stopped, The Illegals wouldn’t be able to get into the USA as quickly!
When I drove truck, I used to pick up in Laredo, Tx all the time, We had to run them out of the back of our trailers with clubs, to keep from helping them to sneak into the Nothern States!
But hell, what am I saying, they want the little bastards coming in, that’s why they are giving them Amneisty and Anything else that they want!

..these underground base arnt cheap…just saw the remake of deathrace …not as funny but the time line at the begining was interesting ….yr. 2012 unemployment out of control factory workers rioting…the prison system is now owned by the “companies” and in the largest for profit org. on the planet…sounds spot on.

JMC………. Every culture has prophecies that begin (or end) on December 21, 2012! And Obama himself has said when he was campaigning that he wanted Everything in place by 2012!
Plus they are talking about the solar activity that will occur around the latter part of 2012!

Economics is not a rocket science! It is a very common sense and understandable social science. Why is the world doing everything the opposite of its advice? Are they that stupid or is it by design?
It is by design. Anybody now who thinks the New World Order is a paranoid fantasy are the nutjobs. They are crashing this economy deliberately and with such great speed we haven’t got time to say “what the f*ck was that?” Hyperinflation is revving up and ready to go soon. We haven’t much time folks.

That’s right Celt. A lot of people out there who doing “well” think we’re conspiracy theory nutjobs. They will be the ones freaking out when it all comes down.
Once the NWO thugs started “enlightening” us to this mess in Sept/Oct of 08, I will be shocked if the next major step isn’t between Aug and Oct of this year.
Too many coincidences; FEMA camps, coffin line, the flu, etc. They’ve got the step in place.

why is this a problem? I dont have any issue with the state cutting expenses. Theres a ton of social workers who are entirely unnecessary. My neighbor used to be a counselor and she herself told me that ppl she use to counsel were helpless idiots who would be doing something productive had they had to. But lifes easy. We get sad, we take anti depr.
We get a headache, we take aspirin. Something happens, we ask for a psychologist. Your neighbor has a problem, we turn our backs on them and expect the state to take care of it.
I just hope the entire state goes down… best case would be a natural catastrophe too big to handle yes there will be insecurity but this mess has become too big and needs to be stopped.

This is exactly why the Dem elites are calling for another stimulus. I heard Screamin’ Dean and Munchkin Reich caliing for another round this week. You also heard about the Whizzite Hizzle trying to extort Cali with the stimulus package. Just another attempt to extort more power from the states. Extortion is an impeachable offense! The Biggest problem in getting people to listen and actually wake up to what is going on, is that it has to effect them directly, and THEY have to see where it came from! The Fed is printing all this money, and these States, ( Some of them) Aren’t taking the money because they know it’s literally not worth the paper that it’s printed on. But the ones that have accepted it are still Over budget in the first place! How can you get your Budgets straight when you can’t even figure out what the Priorities should be!
And CELT, I agree with you! It is not Rocket science, They want to make us broke and homeless, and in the NEED to depend on them! The Drug dealers do the same thing, Give out some free samples, then when they get hooked, you cut the product and make them pay out the ass for it, Or you make them do what you want in order to get what you need! (Same Principle, different product!)
