European Union leaders refused to impose sanctions on Russia over the invasion of Georgia, acknowledging their reliance on Russian oil and gas at a time of faltering economic growth.
EU leaders took the symbolic step yesterday of suspending talks over expanded trade ties with Russia, fearing that tougher measures would expose the energy-dependent bloc to Russian retaliation.
Russia is the 27-nation bloc’s main supplier of oil and gas and third-biggest trading partner, giving it leverage at a time when the European economy threatens to tip into recession. Europe’s determination to maintain business links also undercuts U.S. efforts to line up allies against the reassertive Russia.
“What, beyond rhetoric, do the Europeans have to offer?” said George Friedman, chief executive of Stratfor, a geopolitical-risk analysis company in Austin, Texas. “How do you have a diplomatic initiative with a group of Europeans whose primary goal is to avoid a confrontation?”
EU governments yesterday put the trade talks, under way since June, on hold until Russia makes good on pledges to end the military occupation of parts of Georgia.

OOPS! Bu$cho did not and could not foresee this happening because they are so fricken DUMB!
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Never mind that Georgia started the war which is the best reason for not imposing Russian sanctions in the first place.
b.t.w. Georgia has admitted to using cluster bombs on civilians. Looks like we have another fabulous regime created by the CIA and the Neo-Nut-Jobs.
God, please help our Country! My Mother cried today watching the news of the RNC security “Nazi’s” beating up, macing and arresting peaceful American’s. She’s 75 years old and she was in tears, in disbelief that this is happening. She said “I lived through the Nazi’s doing this to people in WW2. I can’t believe this is happening to our own people, here in our own Country.”

Hurray for Russia.
The left wing fascist NWO NATO US power elite have no manoeuvring room, this gives us the true Europeans a chance to undermine the Politically Correct warmongers.
O, and avoid the Third World War.
Up yours Milliband, Brown and the EU.

“HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH” HAVE STATED THAT GEORGIA USED CLUSTER BOMBS ON THE SOUTH OSSETIANS. THE RUSSIANS HAD ALREADY SAID THAT AND WERE IGNORED. THEY CAN’T REALLY IGNORE THIS, BUT IT ONLY GOT A TINY MENTION IN THE BRIT “MEDIA”.

This is a perfect example of how free trade works to reduce hostilities between nations. Russia and the EU are interdependent. If only these morons in Washington and other interventionists could understand this basic principle we’d live in a much more peaceful world.

Russia doesn’t need the E.U. Get your head out of your ass!!! I can’t believe how stupid and ignorant some people are for making the statement that Russia needs the E.U. No, it’s the other-way-around.
Russia has the resources to stand alone. They don’t need to buy the over-priced Mercedes Benz taxi cars. The don’t need “Beemers.”
Putin can also put America in it’s proper place for fucking around with Russia in South Ossetia. Besides, if that huge U.S. Naval Armada heading for Iran decides to strike, Russia is sure to fuck America up the ass, you can be absolutely sure.
If the Chinese ever decide to enter in, LOOK OUT BUBBA. BUBBA BUSHKY will live to regret his bullshit.
September 2nd, 2008 at 2:19 pm
But the Neo-Cons need a new enemy! This begs the question, at least in my mind that, if the EU won’t back sanctions against Russia, does this increase the need for the insane Neo-Cons to stage a false flag?

I wanted to know what the georgian conflict was realy about and I found a pipeline running in from baku ,through georgia , into turkey and ready for shipment to western markets.
It will take away the russia/Iran monopoly of oil production from the caspian sea and give it control by The Western markets.
If this is true there is 200 billion barrels
@ 100.00 per barrel = 20 trillion
@ 200.00 per barrel = 40 trillion
These are the major players

Good! We don’t need sanctions. Why should Russia be sanctioned anyway? It was Georgia who attacked Russia, not the other way about! And who the hell have the EU and America the right to impose sanctions on another countries? Russia certainly didn’t impose any sanctions on America after they invaded Afghanistan.
September 2nd, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Hahaha! so much for the almighty EU,the idea of them freezing to death in the middle of winter did not appeal them.
September 2nd, 2008 at 7:39 pm

September 2nd, 2008 at 9:49 pm
wouldn’t sanctions just force a country to become more self-sufficient? Wouldn’t it bring so-called rogue nations together in trading?

September 3rd, 2008 at 4:37 pm
I think, we need for the good plan. Like we’ll divide old Europe from new countries, which not European in fact, but factually — American vassals, like Poland, Baltic limitrophes… We should break the European Kingdom in itself. And we’d hackle Europe from USA (and their UK poodle). We can close transit for NATO, from Europe to Afganistan, it will be funny, and we can play with Iran… maybe McCain will be next potus, and starts the war against Iran! Iran, Iraq, Afganistan and–maybe–Pakistan… More, more and more dares for USA, great democratic country, motherland of the freedom and fatherland of the liberty.

We know that Israel as well as the US played a significant part in the Georgian lead invasion of South Ossetia. Where the Russians quick in response to the invasion due to the secrets that Jonathon Pollard revealed to them?

The problem begun with the U.S. and Israel putting Georgia full with weapons.
The same shit can start again if Poland or some other “I am big in my head” land is stupid enough to start putting new rockets up from the U.S..
Some European people went on the streets demonstrating during the cold war over the “Put a rocket in your backyard or not” issue, do we have to start this BS all over again?
Quess not! Europe is full of rockets so why put more? This is all insain!
Making money with starting WOIII is the most stupid idea of the century but it seems that this Ol’ head ideas are still circulating in the Whitehouse. To be more specific; In the dark basement of the Whithouse where some madmen are hiding.
(Come out of there Dick, you can’t stay there all night can you?)
But Pakistan will be a big pain in the ass with all those Taliban fellows crossing the Pakistan border every day to Afghanistan. Pakistan will problably forced by the U.S. to call in their help since the Pakistanies cannot longer control this situation. Hillary said it and Obama is screaming it now “PAKISTAN!”. Iran seems to be of the hook right now and Obama even wants to have some some sort of reasonable sweet talking with them.
Troops are already transfered from Irak to Afghanistan as we speak.
