Eugenics Quotes: From lofty ideals to centralized population control and mass death

Here’s a collection of eugenics quotes– from as far back as 520 B.C. (the ideas are clearly age-old) up through the golden age of Eugencis-proper (from about 1883 through WWII), and up to the present date, where futurists, transhumanists and government policy makers look to an age where race-specific weapons are possible and mass death is conceivable and desirable for some of those in control.
With respect to those who may find the eugenics promise of better, faster, stronger, more human-than-human and the end of disease and handicaps to be appealing, I put forward (as a working thesis, if you will), that the drawbacks and excesses of eugenics as we’ve already seen it unfold should caution any promotion or endorsement.
Eugenics has been promoted not as a general philosophy of man, but inherently as a system of state control– where reproduction must be guided by "wisemen" of one brand or another. This system leads, ultimately, again and again to control by elites who seek god-like powers (oftentimes in those very words)– and total social control will almost always guide its directives and oversee its moral judgments– making the betterment of the many over the elite few impossible.
This is true not only in the excesses of the Nazi Germany– an obvious extreme, but in the would-be ideals of H.G. Wells (a la his 1905 Modern Utopia), the sometimes practical, sometimes overtly controlling eugenical policies in the USA, England and elsewhere in the first third of the 20th century– and the same perils of total control threaten us in the might-be ideals of meg lo-maniacal elites of the transhumanist camp– most who envision a man transformed, and some who envision the power of a god to kill the many.
Thus, what I oppose is not the hope for a better man, but the repetition of a vicious cycle of elite control and systematic death– surely a far cry from the ideals we were asked to hope for in the promises of sciences & the state– but connected, undoubtedly, to the controls over the direction of humanity as he moves ever forward towards the future.

Birth control in general is nothing but genocide. Birth control in some cases is neccesary. Birth defects, rape, incest. Uh, at the risk of sounding racist (which I’m not, it’s all about class in this country), this country has already had a eugenics program. The slaves in the South, pre-Civil War, were bought, sold, and bred just like the other farm animals (realize that the southern slave owners had ALWAYS thought of their slaves as property, not humans, and knew no better. It’s how they had been raised). Communities shared “bucks” (Southern Slave owner’s name for a black male in those days), breeding them with the female slaves that they believed exhibited the appropriate characteristics, even if she was already married and had kids.
While I believe that heart, desire, and determination have more to do with it, many of the people I meet here in the south believe quite whole heartedly that this is the reason professional sports are dominated by our black American citizens.
Like I said ealier, it is a VERY racist thing to mention (at least in our current PC culture), but it is common knowledge in the south, and part of our national history/legacy. Sorry if I offended anyone, but it worth discussing (just like all of our other racial issues. Not communicating about our differences is the reason why there is still a split amongst blacks and whites in America. The leftist PC move was the greatest divider they’ve ever come up with).

Caution is good, but there are bad genes – this is undeniable no matter the expert.
Can we have a separation between cultural eugenics and medical eugenics?

It isn’t hard to have your embryos tested for bad genes before inserting them in the womb – it’s not a hardship on the couple – people are simply careless and a good majority of pregnancies are accidents.

About eugenics, let us not forget that the few aggressive type personalities that are in in charge of us all are the ones who decide who gets to live and die. Human technology is so often portrayed as a separate entity but in reality it is a product of it. Nature is the only unprejudiced judge of these things and with all its chaotic wisdom has always been the ultimate equalizer.

Man, just because I know her reputation on this board, I almost hesitate to say that I might find my way to agreeing with Anna (#28) on this…
Medical science has gone into warp drive in the last one hundred years. It saves many, many people from the death that nature certainly had in store for them. Regardless of whether you believe in evolution or not, you HAVE to agree that natural selection works because we have used it to produce different breeds of things (like toy dogs or minature pigs) that nature wouldn’t have allowed to come to existence. I’m sorry to the fella who said that Steven Hawkings is proof against eugenics, but you must realize that he would not have made it out of infancy 150 years ago. His life is entirely dependant upon medical science and the technology that allowed him to communicate his awesome intellect (which also didn’t exist 150 years ago).
Science has removed nature’s control over us as a race. The genetically weak and physically handicapped now routinely survive to adulthood, to breed themselves. Nature used to weed them out. Our usage of medicine has removed natural selection from the process of figuring out which genes are passed on and which aren’t. Hence our population explosion in the last 200 years.
So I understand WHY the eugenics people say what they say. And I agree with it. The human race WILL stagnate genetically and evolutionarily without human intervention to replace nature.
BUT I am a HUGE believer in the freedom of self, individual freedoms, and self interest/preservation. No man walking the Earth has any right to tell another with whom they may or may not breed. If the stagnation of the human race in genetic terms is the price we must pay for being individuals and making the decisions for ourselves by ourselves, so be it.

The triumph of vulgarity is so popular in the United States. And Americans are such fools as to believe their politicians when they say that it is the melting pot concept makes them strong. Rock and Roll, blue jeans, T-shirts…yep! That’s strong.
This is a great article, because you can see the hatred of the inferiors that has been organized against the better people of the world in the comments on this site. There was a science fiction story about a world in the future when everyone was allowed one square meter each and had to live there. Criminals had to live in the coastal areas that weren’t dry all the time due to tides and storms.
I would suspect that Jaques Costeau’s comment was taken completely out of context, but you should try to read Pendel’s “Sex and Civilization” before you stick with some opinion you and your “buds” have concocted.

I consider the “stae” part of the problem.
If a person decides to get pregant and is not prepared financially or mentally.. the “STATE” should never enter the equation. Once people are removed from the “state”(taxpayer to them) safety net and the burden of their decision becomes just that.. THEIR BURDEN… more people will take initiative to prevent accidntal pregancy than any GVT program or pill.
There is one problem.. You have the “state” sponsoring support to pregnancy on one side .. and preaching against it on the other… And who listens to the “state” anyway..
No more social programs, no more welfare checks, no more “I am screwed up so bail me out” programs… If you can’t deal with your life or the problems with life.. your family should be made to bear the responsibility. The biggest problem with the elites and the Eugenists is that they think that inbreeding is acceptable. The documentary Endgame mentioned that the origional Eugenists actually practised inbreeding, and they pretty much made sure that their genes wouldn’t get passed on. That’s a good thing btw. I live in a rural area and live by the kind of people that eugenics would want to target. Believe me, if you ever lived among a bunch of low IQ people whose only goal in life is to get down to the local tavern as soon as they have a few dollars in their pockets, you would feel a whole lot different about eugenics.
I am certianly not implying that these people should be rounded and killed…but they should not be allowed to have more children just like them either. Some people are a total drain on society…and their children and grandchildren follow the lead. And yes, if you ever lived on a farm, the herd is culled of the less than desirable stock. Any farmer worth his salt knows that, it is just common sense. The world would be a real miserable place to live in if these ideals were not followed. When you go to the grocery store and buy a steak, you expect it to taste good. That does not happen by accident. If farmers did not cull the herds for only the best animals, you would LUCKY to get a good piece of meat, it would be hit or miss, and the farmers would quickly go out of business if they were unable to offer a product which was dependable.
Of course we are talking about humans, not animals, but consider this scenrio. You need car insurance, and you are a good driver, never had an accident. So you call to get your car insurance, and you are blown away at the high price of the insurance coverage. You shake your head and why the rates are so high. Well, one reason rates in a certain area are high is because of drunken drivers. Where I live we have lots of drunk drivers. In fact, I make sure to get home before the bars close, because it is very dangerous on the roads around here when all the drunks are coming home from the bar. Of course if you live in an area where there are those kinds of risks, you are going to pay a lot more for car insurance….through no fault of your own, but simply because of where you live. This is just one tiny example how the less than desirable people eat away at your income. We all pay over and over for these kind of people.
Another example, these meth addicted mothers who give birth to critically ill babies…. I am an ICU nurse, I have seen these babies, and the thousands of dollars spent on these poor little things. Those that do survive are usually not normal. Many will be unable to work and support themselves, so we will have to do that too. If that is not bad enough, we see the same meth addicted mother giving birth a few years later to another damaged baby. If it were up to me, these mothers would be fixed the first time they give birth to a drug addicted baby. Unless they were able to pay for the care of these babies, they should not be allowed to have them over and over. I am not talking about a special needs child born into a loving family such as Sarah Palin and her sweet little baby, I want to make that clear. These kind of children will be taken care of by loving parents and family, they will not be a financial drain on society.
People all over the world should be held resposible for their personal reproductive impact on society. I feel personal reproduction is a privledge, not a right and should be treated as such, and those privledges should be taken away if abused. With billions of people on planet earth this is a serious issue. Indeed, the womb can be as deadly as a loaded gun if used unwisely.
In America we take so many things for granted. We are supposed to be the richest nation in the world, but that could change. One day we will not be able to help the unfortunate. In that case all these babies born to drug addicted mothers will suffer greatly. To me, that is the biggest tragedy of all. These innocent children suffering because of the selfish decisions made by their parents.
The earth has just so many resources, and those resources are being used up fast. Would you want to have a child if you knew it was going to starve to death? If you knew it would never live a day without pain? Is it right to bring this beautiful baby into the world, only to have it suffer? If I could not provide for a child, I would use birth control. I am strongly against abortion, but birth control is not abortion. There are many dependable forms of birth control, and most are reliable if used the correct way. I simply cannot see how birth control is wrong. Responsible reproduction is a must if the human race wants to survive.
There are certain laws of nature at work which have not a thing to do with eugenics. When a species of any kind becomes over abundant, nature will attempt to balance things out. Epidemics have swept the planet from time to time. Usually the weakest will die, leaving the strong to survive. I doubt if these flu strains are man made, where did they come from to begin with? Of course, things like war are man made. Is war the work of eugenics? War has been here for thousands of years, man is a violent creatures. Even without wars, there is plenty of murder going on, because that is the nature of man. Of course, if those people who were violent were not allowed to reproduce, perhaps we would live in a world without war.
The world could be changed drastically within a mere 50 years. How? Birth control. China has a one child policy, and that is perhaps the best thing that ever came out of that country! If you think the earth can support more and more people, you are dreaming. If the population continues to grow, many more people will starve, and that awful fate could all be prevented by simply reproducing in a responsible way.
And that is just plain old common sense!

If this country would stop ALL welfare programs, and adopt the relief programs of years ago, (meaning Food and health care programs should stay), where those people did not get a monthly a check for sitting around the house, ganeration after generation. The relief programs used to help people who were truely in need, ( a sudden widow with children, a loss of employment etc.) it was a hand up, not a hand out. Now we have people who want more money so they just have more kids to get that raise. Stop giving these people free money, and the birth rate will go down. Stop feeling sorry for the ever single mom with six kids and five different daddies, there’s no reason for anyone to feel sorry for her and give her a living for free. She did it to herself, let her deal with it. If there is no help for these people to make life easy for them, maybe, just maybe they’ll get off their asses and do something. What happened to the proud people of this country who when faced with poverty, they found work, even if it meant collecting cans for recycle. They might just go spend it at the bar, but at least they are taking care of it themselves, and not demanding that the tax payer cover the tab.

UK Guy, he would have been put down at birth, as Hawkings condition would have been screened as a future undesirable illness. That’s the whole point of genetic screening eugenics. Every year, they discover more and more genetic traits for future illness, appearance and even potential criminality. Note the word ‘potential’ -they would happily kill embryos that might not all even develop the traits, that is how evil eugenics is.

Here’s the best idea I’ve come upon so far. Admittedly, it is a debate, but there are answers that make sense, and would make sense to everyone.
The idea is to issue birth permits based on your success in high school. The last I checked, it takes 2.3 children to continue the genetic line. So if you graduate in the bottom half of your high school class, you get 1/2 point. This entitles you to 1/2 of one child in your lifetime. If you marry a woman who also has 1/2 point, you are entitled to one child. You get one whole point if you graduate in the top half of your class. So two people who marry and have graduated from high school in the top half are allowed two children.
If you graduate from college, you get two points and are allowed four children if you marry a college graduate. People with graduate degrees are allowed an unlimited number of children.
The penalty for violation is sterilization.
Now there are lots of arguments to be considered in this program, and there are certainly exceptions to be considered also, but the idea is to stop trying to cure social ills by pushing on the environmental side of the issue, and begin to push on the heredity side. This isn’t a chat site, so you have to understand that there are more considerations than I can show here. But you should also be able to see that there is a rationale to these ideas, and that hysterical Hollywood inspired notions have no part in the discussion.
If you don’t know it, heredity has the upper hand in who we are. In the Nature vs. Nurture question, Nature wins.

I remember reading a story that was handed out to us in grade school ( about 1973 ) . It was a story about
a child who was ordered to take an I.Q. test . It seemed like it was taking place in a doctors office . There was no mention of a physical handicap or that the child had down syndrome . In fact it made a point to say
how normal and cute the child was . He failed their standard of intelligence . If I remember correctly he scored around 76 . They then take the child away and he is given a lethal injection . First of all this was literature given to us by a state run school . It was not presented as fiction . In fact the teacher handed it out , told us too read it , then asked us what we thought . Then she collected the book and that was it .
No assurance that it was fiction or that we would never do such a thing …. nothing . I remember how scared I felt . As much as I hate to give any pop-psycho science any credence , early on I had a real problem with memory and retention . It was embarrassing and even scary sometimes . I would study and
study , then the next day it was like nothing was there . So when I heard this story I wondered … Is this
going to happen to me .
It might seem unimportant to someone who THINKS they are a better caliber than others but , you are assuming that you will meet that standard . Once that standard is set , it will change to suit those in power and be implemented at the will of the one in charge . Meaning if the one in charge doesn’t like you , you will die . Eugenics is not culling the heard , it is an excuse to start mass murder . And, it will

You can always tell the inferiors, when the subject of eugenics pops up. They float to the top of the cesspool like any other refuse. It is a biological reaction to the threat of death. This is normal. The purpose of eugenics is to eliminate them, and this they know full well.
It will happen, the only thing under discussion is exactly how.
If you will study Race as a subject, you will find out many things. But to eliminate all of the other races is folly. It would be like having only one kind of flower. Communists have taught the gullible that the ideal race would be a homogeneous mixture of all genes. And so you would have only one race. One flower.
Communists have taught the guillible that inbreeding is anathama. They say it is best to race-mix, and that will solve all racial differences. When you find out that the jews invented communism for their own benefit, things begin to become clear. They want YOU to mix your genes while they keep their gene set intact. Neat, huh?

At what age did he produce his first work on Physics? (wikipedia says the late 1960s, after his disease set in)
When did he graduate with his PhD, before or after the onset of the disease? (After. The disease struck him when he started his PhD work.)
Would he have been the brilliant scientist before an age when modern medicine could save his life? (Nope.)
Just making the point here. You can offer up one Stephen Hawkings, the Eugenics people can offer thousands of trailer parks full of people.

Evil people control the world, that is a fact. The idea of killing off the poor and needy or those who are uneducated and live in trailer parks because they are a drain on humanity is totally evil. I have an idea that if the evil elite were sacrificed for the greater good of humanity and those on the bottom of the heap were given equal opportunity in education, health care and enterprise the poor would not be so for very long.
I have seen ‘poor people’ who are capable of great love and compassion who make great sacrifices for their children. I once new of a single mom who skipped meals and fed everything to her children. She would tell her children she ate while cooking. Over the years her children have all grown to become hard working successful adults. The woman suffered ill health because she gave everything she had to her children. You know one of her children, Officer Jack McLamb, as true a patriot as you will ever find.
I never heard a poor person say we need to kill the rich to save the earth.

I don’t think one comment posted here considered a nature/nurture dynamic. Most here seem to only admit nature (genes) into their thought process, then they proceed to argue either blandly or strongly FOR eugenics of some kind. (and not unsurprisingly they never see THEMSELVES as a candidate for eugenics/sterilization/culling etc).
Crack babies. Ignorant hillbillies. Welfare mothers. Hispanics. Pregnant teens. Negroes. Gays. on and on blah blah blah. Pick your favorite scapegoat and then off with their heads right?

I was born and raised in a trailer park. I’m the first member of my family to go to college, and I received zero assistance from my relatives. I worked my ass off to get good grades. I put myself through college and grad school working two jobs and going to school full time. I was born at the absolute bottom, yet through hard work, discipline, and the appropriate set of goals, I BETTERED MYSELF. It didn’t matter that I went to a broke assed school, had an abusive drunk for a step father, and we had no money. It didn’t stop me from succeeding because this is America, and you can still climb the ladder of social mobility if you work hard, pay your dues, and lift yourself up from the gutter.
Those people I grew up with, the ones still in that god-forsaken trailer park, they’re there because they choose to be. They could do exactly what I did and put together a different life, but they don’t. They’re lazy, drunk, addicted, and proud of it. Just listen to a country music station and hear their howls of joy over being uneducated, barbaric, inbred rednecks. Screw that. A real human wants better for himself (herself) and for their kids. A real human would do whatever it took to make that happen. Those still sitting in the trailer parks are just wasting my air, water, and energy. Fuck ‘em, they don’t care about themselves, why should I care about them?

It wasn’t my choice that they didn’t get an education, didn’t try, just remained stuck in the same rut, not advancing. That’s THEIR choice to make, same as for everyone else, every where else. I’ve got kids, and as of right this minute, due in great part to MY YEARS OF HARDWORK (representing a serious portion of my life), they live a significantly better life than the one I was raised in. Or are you going to try saying that not making the world a better place for your children isn’t the right thing to do?

Does this include the plagues that ravaged Europe during the middle ages? Scientists (who were still being burned at the stake), they were the ones responsible for wiping out at least 1/3 of Europe’s population?
There is a natural tendency for Nature to create horrible plagues in response to overpopulation. As resources become scarce, and the immune systems of the population’s individuals begin to degrade, it is inevitable that even the common diseases turn into lethal killers. It’s part of the natural cycle. Not the work of scientists.

All the people you see in favor of eugenics assume they are part of the elite class that should be permitted to live and procreate.
There’s a certain ego boost to that, isn’t there? Thinking oneself to be intelligent, above others in some way?
Now before anyone jumps my case, I’m a white guy who discovered long ago I ain’t better than nobody. Neither are you, I don’t care your education. But what if you were to discover that you weren’t on the favored list?
I live in a town filled with illegals and I confess that sometimes I get so angry at the ignorance they display. It would be easy to jump on the eugenics bandwagon, but bad as I hate the situation I just can’t make that jump. Because, there are people somewhere that see me as inferior too. The world “elites’, for example. You too, Big Mike, with your superior education and ‘years of hard work’. There are plenty of people who see you as degenerate, low class, a drain on the earth. And, compared to some, I guess a case could be made for it. But are you inferior in some way, simply because you don’t have the education, birth and intelligence of some others? Admit it dude! There are people who make your education and intelligence look as though you are in kindergarten.
The world is a messed up place, but as soon as you start leaning in the eugenics direction you’re going down a wrong way.

Classical education at a university today is just the bare framework, just a start. There is also a hierarchy in academia, which college you attended, was it Yale? Oh no, Harvard? What?? A community college?!
I see it differently; true education is how open your mind is, how much you think, how much you read, how many people you communicate with, how much you listen, how much you travel, and all of it means jack unless you do things with love. Sounds silly, but love is at the end of it all. College is exellent also.
Adolph though eugenics a fine piece of work! He also is not noted for his love, his sensitivity to others.

Get up off my ass and Do something? I live every moment of every day living what I believe. Anyone who knows me knows something about 911 etc., and quite a few strangers have heard it from me. I’d lay odds that every blogger here can make the same claim and more.
Other than that, what do you think a person should “get off their ass and DO”? Right now, spreading the word is the most important and needful thing. We need to swell our numbers, so anyone who spreads the word is DOING something. Once we have millions and millions of people awakened we will have the power to take bigger steps.
Informing as many people as possible, resisting oppression when it presents itself, living our beliefs, supporting people like Alex Jones, and yes…..blogging, are the things to be doing right now.

I really wait the day when new age of mankind begins but Im afraid that the day will not never come if I do not do my part. It is terrible what man has done to this world because of his mad desires and his lack of sense of proportion. Of course, the rightfulness of eugenics depends on what one sees to be the purpose of life. Is it to pollute this world, feed our dumb nonimportant prehistorical desires and live in happiness or is it to secure the existance of the posterity of the humankind and other life forms? Not that I would think that other life forms had as much importance as man, but I cannot accept that humans cause destruction and death because of something so unimportant than as maximizing their happiness without any sense of proportion. Naturally I understand the trends nowadays; having fun, not caring a fuck about anything else, believing in an invisible man who helps when we fuck things up (or just being more ignorant in lieu of that), living in self-delusion, thinking that the right thing is being done, even when it is so obvious that it is not.
I know that you may feel bad about sterilizing and killing the “weak ones” but it is the rational thing to be done if we want to secure the future of our posperity. Have you ever thought that if there would be like only 100million people on this planet unrenewable resources might last 65 times longer? And if they would be the ‘children’ of the smartest people the chance of survival of the mankind would be much more higher that today.bla-bla-bla..

The only reason a concept like eugenics even arises is to attempt to remedy the negative effects of previous bad ideas. If people were left alone to chose their mates based on their natural impulses and instincts and if families had to shoulder the burden of their own offspring then there would e no need for ideas like eugenics.
There was no such concept as eugenics among the Indian Brahman. The Vedas teach that spouses are chosen with consideration of caste and discourage misplaced charity; these acts of common sense preempt the need for any concept like eugenics.
The idea the slavery bred a super race of black athletes, is a self consoling delusion promoted by less athletic whites as an excuse for their own inadequacies. Whites who are numerically the smallest population on the planet consistently out perform all other races at the Olympics; even Zimbabwe had to send a white athlete. The reason blacks are over represented in Americas pro sports has more to do with the discriminatory admission practices of college sports programs and the medias feitishization of the black athlete than anything else.
But before I get carried away, think about this. The implied intent of eugenics would be to breed a healthier more law abiding, productive population. This would essentially eliminate the need for the medical industry and the legal enforcement-imprisonment industries, do you honestly think either of these self perpetuating interests would condone or allow anything that would eventually put them out of business…
