A former Albuquerque police officer has been sentenced for kneeing a UNM law student in the groin during a 2014 traffic stop, which caused him to lose a testicle.
Standing next to his attorney, Pablo Padilla pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor aggravated battery charge.
“That night, I never intended to hurt Mr. Martin. I’m just sorry for what happened,” Padilla said as he addressed the court.
Padilla was sentenced to 364 days of unsupervised probation and 25 hours of community service.
