Facebook Toy Gun Photo Prompts Warrantless Home Search

A Sudbury, Ontario truth activist was the victim of a warrantless police home search following the discovery of a photo of him brandishing a toy gun on the social networking website Facebook.
Despite the fact that the photo was of the man holding an obvious cap gun, police demanded to enter Ryan Lever’s property in search of the item, which isn’t even illegal.
“I had the police show up telling me i had a picture posted on facebook holding a gun! I informed them it was obviously not a real gun they did not care! They proceeded to search my house looking for this toy gun!,” complained Lever.
He said the pictures had been up on Facebook for over 2 years, but they had prompted an investigation by the Children’s Aid society, leading to three burly police officers knocking on his door.

“To be honest when they showed up with 3 big cops rapping on the door then told me what it was over I laughed,” states Lever.
“Its just so stupid EVEN if I did have a picture posing with a REAL gun what proof do they have I even still had the gun? There had to be something more to this! They checked out my facebook and I use that as a information spreading tool because plainly I DONT CARE if the scum know I am a truth activist. They claimed York region from outside Toronto called them over the picture. To make this funnier I threw out the toy a few weeks before so they did not even find the capgun,” he added.
The officers did not have a warrant to enter the premises but just made out as if the situation was dangerous enough to afford them the right to conduct an instant search.
The jaw-droppingly deadly photo of Lever and his toy gun that prompted the police investigation and friendly “home visit” can be seen below.

It’s not surprising. This is the same province in which we “ban” handguns (which were already illegal) and yet we don’t “ban” pedophiles (which, coincidentially, are also already illegal), but put them through a revolving door jail system and let them live in halfway houses next to nurseries in downtown Toronto.

YES: a search without a warrant seems excessive but do any of you know ontario laws regarding such things?
THE GUN: It is not “an obvious cap gun” it is so NOT obvious of COURSE authorities are taking it seriously.
FACEBOOK: It is a public website… when are people going to realise how you promote and market yourself on that site will reflect on you, for better or for worse, when you date, job hunt or have court dates. That has nothing to do with the idea of a police state… it is common sense… it is a PUBLIC forum.

I like a post that actually cares about the issues rather then the constant over reaction to such a stupid actions by someone who should have known better!
Why is this story even on here?
What does this prove other then the “truth” movement is a misguided bunch of individuals?
AND if they are aware of the so called “police state” why would they provoke them, especially in a country that has very strict laws concerning hand guns?
There is so much that I have a problem with in this article I can’t fathom why they would post it up here?
Not to mention the relevance of the theme to a police state. Do they assume that by provoking the argument they can some how change the laws?
Personally I would have a problem with my kids picture holding a gun on his face book page (REAL OR NOT). It’s a ignorant portrayal of ones self and should be frowned upon.

It was a few friends I was fooling around with taking pictures with this capgun. The police did search my house i did let them in. They made me think they really thought i had a gun though. I just posted this so everyone knows NOT to post these pictures on your account.

Facebook and other social networking tools are dangerous, I would suggest you at least lock them down, or even better delete them now. The criminals will use it to build a network of your associates and your habits, setting you up will be a breeze with all the info. Think that is bad, I had the police in BC storm their way into my home due to a false complaint. Everytime I opened my mouth, they told me to shut up and asked if I wanted to go to jail. They left about 15 minutes later after making me out as a criminal in front of guest. On the way out, they said, now your in the system.

Why is it that police NEVER visit the homes of people that make microwave guns?
I see alot of these device made from ordinary home microwave oven magnetron tubes on You tube and google video.
I have seen schematics for these devices online –some sites up for 4 years or more.
Is it because it’s still a classified device?
Is it because it does not fall within the jurisdiction of the police or ATF.
Is it because a microwave gun is really just a glorified RF transmitter?
OR is it all of the above ???????

I agree with this method of activism, Jay! Inundate those cadre of pigs with emails to let them know that their actions are inexcusable and nefarious. Here’s my email to them:

This is a complete outrage as a picture of an obvious toy gun does not warrant the violation of his constitutional rights. There are plenty of pictures of people holding guns; why don’t you go arrest them all? I can provide you plenty of pictures of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone holding guns so do you plan to arrest them? What your police force did was utterly despicable and unequivocally deserves severe and extreme punishment.
Summarily, please provide me instructions on how to file a formal complaint in regards to the warrantless search of Ryan Lever’s property.

This is ridiculous. It’s because he looks scary in his photo where hes brandishing the toy. I have photos of me holding a toy gun on myspace that have been up for longer than 2 years.. but I’m also dressed in police/swat inspired gear. If the police show up you can bet there will be legal action. Ridiculous.

Culture here is a little bit different than in the states. Hand guns arent a common thing to own in this city. I dont own any weapons and neither does any of my family. I only have a few friends that have hunting rifles for moose. A lady was murdered here about 2 weeks ago in a grizzly fashion and their arent very many murders in this city. The kid was inconvenienced for a couple of hours…big deal. What if it was a real gun, didnt have any papers for it and he shot someone. If the police didnt do anything, the same people would be crying a different tune. If he feels his rights were trampled on, higher a lawyer and take the OPP to court. I would like to hear some intelligent conjecture on the matter. If you’re just going to tell me to go fuck myself, then dont bother.

That’s why I live in AZ. Free to carry a weapon strapped to your side anywhere you want, save Govt. blds, Bars, and Schools. Plus after an 8 hour course you can get a concealed carry weapon permit, which I also have. Screw the NWO.
