A former FBI informant was responsible for not only teaching the Black Panthers to use guns but supplying the group with weapons before deadly shootouts with Oakland police in the 1960s, The Center For Investigative Reporting revealed Monday.
Richard Masato Aoki was a “fierce militant” in the San Francisco Bay Area who belonged to several radical groups before joining forces with the Black Panthers.
“He was my informant. I developed him,” Aoki’s agent Burney Threadgill Jr. told the reporting center. “He was one of the best sources we had.”
