FDA Finds Traces of Melamine in U.S. Infant Formula

Traces of the industrial chemical melamine have been detected in samples of top-selling U.S. infant formula, but federal regulators insist the products are safe.

The Food and Drug Administration said last month it was unable to identify any melamine exposure level as safe for infants, but a top official said it would be a “dangerous overreaction” for parents to stop feeding infant formula to babies who depend on it.
“The levels that we are detecting are extremely low,” said Dr. Stephen Sundlof, director of the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. “They should not be changing the diet. If they’ve been feeding a particular product, they should continue to feed that product. That’s in the best interest of the baby.”
Melamine is the chemical found in Chinese infant formula _ in far larger concentrations _ that has been blamed for killing at least three babies and making at least 50,000 others ill.
Previously undisclosed tests, obtained by The Associated Press under the Freedom of Information Act, show that the FDA has detected melamine in a sample of one popular formula and the presence of cyanuric acid, a chemical relative of melamine, in the formula of a second manufacturer.
Separately, a third major formula maker told AP that in-house tests had detected trace levels of melamine in its infant formula.

Hey folks! It’s called BREASTFEEDING! If you just have had a baby, you should try it out! It’s the safest way to feed your baby. I’m going on five children here, and I’ve never fed one of my children formula, and that included the baby I had that was almost two weeks early that didn’t have her suckle reflex immediately. Yes, I was in pain for a while, but I consider that a sacrifice of a mother to give a baby what she needs. If you don’t want to breastfeed all the time, then try getting a breast pump. If you have to work, then go and get one that’s a high quality one. If you’re home all the time, and don’t have much money, get a smaller one, and use it, and bottle feed the baby with breastmilk. There are a ton of breastfeeding websites you can visit to help you if you’re having trouble. Your troubles are not unique if you are having them. People think that things should always be easy. They’re not. Breastfeeding included. The best thing you can do for your baby for their immune system is breastfeeding. Imagine the times that women didn’t have the option to feed a “formula” to children. Go back to that time. If you don’t, you’ll put your baby at risk for ingesting a bunch of toxic chemicals like melamine.

Exactly,parentsfortruth, youare correct. breastfeeding is the most natural, and inexpensive way to feed youre children. There is a nutrient in breast milk that is vital to brain developement that formula does not give. Just think of the word, FORMULA, it sounds like a lab experiment. They are purposely killing youre children right from the start, thats a fact. i would venture to say that mothers that do not breastfeed hate their children.

What this all proves is that industry intended to contaminate the baby formulas world wide and, the Chinese just screwed up the translation of the amount they were told to put in the product. The question that should be ask is not how low the level is, but why is it there at all. Wake up people! Look at the labels on the food you buy at the supermarket, it is full of chemicals your body does not need and can’t process.

I still breastfeed, and I’m twenty six. I’m serious, it keeps me going strong, of course my shit still looks like mustard, but it’s a small price to pay, for some fresh titty.
It doesn’t embarrass me in public in the least, I’ll tell somebody staring:

What crap. You can’t trust the corporations to do their jobs. First, they screw us by allowing these poisons to enter our food in the first place. Then, they hire these Chinese workers in their filthy factories to make the food.
So we hire the FDA to check for this sort of stuff; and they always find out about it AFTER it’s entered the food supply.

#1, I, too, breastfed my child. But if you do it right it should not hurt. At least for me that’s how it was. Thank goodness that I was breastfed by my mother and that we had well water with no added fluoride. Perhaps this is why my brain is not fried and can think for myself.

unfortunately, you and I don’t have the power to control everything that we are exposed to (food, water, medications, etc.) and we trust that the people who have put themselves in power through political schemes/media manipulation (eg. 911) are doing what’s best for us all because they care about the common man! HA! I recently read an article that showed that over 50% of our congressmen and senators have no clue about american history/bill of rights. They don’t care about you…only their own pockets!
If you want something done right..do it yourself. That’s why our small organic farms are booming these days!

I knew that was coming, if you didn’t see it coming already.. infant formula and the promotion of it as the “easy solution” to everything, and never telling mothers that they do have the option of breast feeding also plays a role in this.. imagine if you will, if you knew feeding your infant anything other than breast milk was going to kill them.. would you do it???
And yet this was how it was about 100 years ago.. now we think we know it all, this was the main step in changing the species into killing machines.. you create 90% of the poplulation to feel like orphans, and take the children away from the people who do know there are other options.. NOW think about this:
If they want to get rid of the so called “extra” poplulation.. where do you start?? Well.. those who are yet to be concived, check (birth rate drop, conception rate drop, infertility UP) then how about population control via harming the growing child.. and force abortion (they do that too in too many places) and finally new born children (they were just born, they won’t be missed, um right???) and finally taking children away from parents.. if they ditched all these other obsticals..or creating a hostile economic system where children mortality rates are going up (notice that has been the case in the STATES??!!)
and I know that fertility rates are dropped.. very low.. I studied by class records from university, in a willing group who have given their information.. and 10 years later, I was one out of only about 10% of these people who actually had a child and actually reproduced… Many still haven’t, many understood that people can use your child against you and make you do things you would never do in your life to protect it and care for it….
so.. with the brain drain going on.. don’t fall into the trap and believe you shouldn’t have children.. we need children to survive.. and it gives you something to fight for, and if you don’t have any children, remember try to do what you can to lessen the influence of governmental/social/corporate control over them, and do what is right for them! Start off right with breast milk, otherwise you risk that child’s intelligence, lifespan and immune system.. EVEN the WHO (who keeps trying to do bad things it seems) has been force to mark down this information: Breast milk first from the mother direct from the breast is FIRST choice for infant food, second choice breast milk from a bottle (if possible its best direct from the breast) 3rd choice breast milk from another Mother, fourth choice… last choice- formula.
I think when they put out these figures, only a few years ago, it was a warning of what was going to happen.. all mothers should be weary of formula.. and avoid it.. and if you have an adopted baby get breastmilk.. from a human.

P.S. Nestle has been selling its formula in the 3rd world for decades and never gets any kind of warning and then when they get caught, they freaking pack up to another country and do it again!! I swore since I was 6 years old to never never buy any products from Nestle… they KILL babies.. by starving them. They have people dressed like doctors in white coats to explain to native peoples how this product is good for them, give it away to them for free and then have them crawling back when there is no breast milk left… and they are personally responsible for the deaths of many many babies in developing countries… where fresh water for formula is not easily available..

Anyone could see how much of a stink the repressed information from China (they held it back until AFTER the olympic games were finished) was going to make all around the world.. and yes, they love to sit back and go “bad someone else did bad” (but the truth of the matter is with the INFORCED one child policies, people insist upon the best for their one offspring..so US peoples.. (don’t be back stabbing on China, they are your little brothers.. (and sisters) ) All around the world, when one group suffers via the plan to keep people “productive” via work, the children suffer.. and with cultures which state, “work is no place for a child” many people feel if they don’t have a job they don’t have any rights.. and governmental systems in place create this.. thus this overwhelming need.. the need for infant formulas so that all children can be substained without the kind of deep care that all mammals give their offspring.. instead.. we are forced to decide, work or child, and if you can’t do both.. no child, sort of like a “natural barrier” in a “Brave New World” society (which it techinically IS) you are raised to be one thing or another.. to be a paper pusher if you are good or cannon fodder if you are in the wrong “class”..
I was told so many times when I was young that America was the best country to be in because you are “free”.. but what kind of freedom is it when you are taught, there are no choices.. and so far removed from human nature that so many artifical things are treated as “daily life”.. and the worst part is, we import this mindset of drugged up 50’s infant formula, drone worker, nuclear family, “wealthy” “healthy” smiling.. overfed, vaccinated, tv watching and send it to countries which didn’t have any problems with their systems until the “civilized” people showed up to christians them and tell them that they were sinners and tell them that everything they do was wrong.. especially showing a naked breast.
Think of how embarassing it is when you are a breast feeding mum and you try to avoid showing feeding your child, due to the fact that you could get “fined” for “indecent exposure” and then if its not the way the law operates in that country, the problem of the oversexualize breast is..from the lie of comodification of the female body..so you have to be “good” but if your “bad” thats better.. and by no means can you spoil that by desexualizing it.. because then the comodity of the female breast, wouldn’t earn magazines money if everyone could actually see it as is.. as what it needs to be.. and why its important, not because some company wishes to make money off of it, or money on fake milk by hormone injected cows..
Human babies are not cows, and infant formula is based (generally) upon cow milk.. and you wonder why people “act like sheep”? If small children are trained that all babies are fed by a bottle, and then one sees a human breast, that they are told are “naughty” and are not supposed to see or show.. do you see how the core of the lie is spread? We are no more than the animals, we are great animals but we have moved our de evolution at stunning rates since the early 1900’s all due to the shift in diet.. what was once only for the “sick” or “wealthy” is now common place..Perhaps waking up the people is first to start with protecting the newly born and their parents, to awaken the real force of life we all have within.. as a mother or a father.

we all need to do our own research. Cows milk is not good for anyone let alone children. I spoke to a soya infant formula company to see if flouride was added as routine. thankfully not but it gave me good chance to inform the head nutritionist about flouride ect. these are the people we need to educate as they can make the biggest impact.

Realize and research, 85 % of Soy is GM’d. Realize that people who shop in natural food stores and for eg. opt out of milk protein, are tricked too : Read the labels of natural foods, look at instances of “yeast extract’ or ‘natural flavour’, and the many other ways MSG additives are allowed to be labelled. So that, if people wise up to grocery store staples, they are suckered in at the ’second layer’. Soy baby food for eg. can do terrible permanent digestive tract damage. Read up or listen to Seeds of Destruction. Combinations of MSG, hormones GMO’s and aspartame in particular are lethal together, and yet these combos terribly pervasive in supermarket products.

Don’t you all know that Melamine is toxin that attacks the kidneys and is only OK to consume when the FDA says so. Same with mercury and Fluoride, both are deadly toxins and even in small amounts can cuse irrevsable brain dammage.
It is only OK to consume these deadly toxins after the FDA has been bought and paid for and then approves it for human consumption. And if something is actually good for you like the antioxidants in red cherriies, the FDA will outlaw any such claims as demanded by Big Pharma and until they can paten the antioxidants in red cherries and make it an EXPENSIVE pharmaceutical.
It is really nice to know that living in America we are so protected and cared for by our leaders that can instantly make toxic substances non toxic after we have eaten them and protect us from the cherry growers that support terrorisim with their claims that are contrary to what our government agencies will allow.
Our leaders have a real tough job you see and sometimes they have to be real assholes to enforce what’s actually good for us all. Thank god we have assholes running this country and, “I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free – - -”

If GREENPEACE wasn’t such a tool these days (for in has been infiltrated and hijacked, even though good people are attracted by these issues and work hard internationally for real environmental concerns) yes, if they weren’t such tools of the established ideas of “activisim” they would be really giving pressure to them because if Monsanto keeps going the way they do, we definately well be eating toxic, GMO waste for breakfast..collectively..
… and since everyone on this face of the earth has some form of PCB in their bodies, you can thank MONSANTO for this polution.. thank them by going up against one if the biggest most dangrous and politically tied company in the world and liquadate them down to non-existant, and then of course make them pay.. make them clean up their mess and develop NEW WAYS of cleaning the environment of all the toxic subtansce that they created over the years including but not limited to PCB’s and Dioxin.
(did you know many people say they can’t breast feed because of these bodily contanimants? well actually, if you do, there is more likey that you will get PCB in cow milk.. even if organic and that mother’s still have the blood/brain barrier enzime thing that goes on so that even if there is amounts of PCB in the breast milk, its still not going to be as much with your baby, but you would get collectively more problems with formula..not just because of this scare, but because collectively, world wide because of the marked reduction in intelligence, e.q. and infant mortality, for example crib death has been directly linked to bottle feeding… and think.. if there were other options *scratches head* what could this be???)

Now of course she is off formula and doing well, in fact the doctors say she is quite advanced for her age, and is miles ahead of her peers in terms of social skills and learning.

I’m like #44, I can’t believe I’m still shocked!!! I love how the standards were set above the levels they have supposedly been finding. I’m just thankful that my baby made it through his first year while on formula and appears to be very healthy, and unvaccinated of course, and to the ignorant people that condemn us that have to use formula, my guess is you’ve never walked in our shoes so shut the hell up!!!!!
