Feinstein – the Little Engine That Could

Well, Dianne Feinstein’s assault weapons ban has apparently been given the “talk to the hand” treatment by Harry Reid, who has decided it has no chance in hell of passing the full Senate.

Senate Democrats said Tuesday they’ll push the gun debate to the full Senate floor in April, though they dealt a major blow to gun control advocates when they decided not to include bans on sales of so-called assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines in the main bill.

“I’m not going to try to put something on the floor that won’t succeed,” the Nevada Democrat told reporters. “I want something that will succeed. I think the worst of all worlds would be to bring something to the floor and it dies there.”

This is something I predicted when Feinstein first came out with her “I’ve been saving this doozy for a REALLY big tragedy, so it can be exploited to the mostest” statement about her ban. I figured she would throw the Hail Mary, count on the Sandy Hook tragedy to carry it through, but if it proved to be too radical of a ban, it would distract the people’s attention from the real issue – the legisleeches’ mission to implement universal background checks, and essentially ban private gun sales.

It’s pretty much happening the way I said it would, although – not one to be called a quitter, Feinstein is planning another strategy: attach her odious, Second Amendment-decimating, authoritarian ban on defensive weapons and magazines as amendments during the floor debate.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this fetid old twat tried to tack them on to more critical legislation that may not have anything to do with guns, such as an appropriation bill of some sort, and threaten Americans with deaths of puppies and kittens, starving children and military training accidents if said appropriation bill doesn’t pass immediately…

Oh, wait… Is that strategy already taken?

The leftards in Washington really have no shame. While Feinstein tries to ram her unconstitutional legislation through the back door – both literally and figuratively – Harry Reid proceeds to link the tragic deaths of Marines at Hawthorne Army Depot yesterday on sequestration budget cuts, which aren’t really cuts, but more like decreases in spending increases, and threatening that more training problems could follow due to lack of funds.
