The US Constitution has few friends on the right or the left.
During the first eight years of the 21st century, the Republicans mercilessly assaulted civil liberties. The brownshirt Bush regime ignored the protections provided by habeas corpus. They spied on American citizens without warrants. They violated the First Amendment. They elevated decisions of the president above US statutory law and international law. They claimed the power to withhold information from the people’s representatives in Congress, and they asserted, and behaved as if, they were unaccountable to the people, Congress, and the federal courts. The executive branch claimed the power to ignore congressional subpoenas. Republicans regarded Bush as a Stuart king unaccountable to law.

The Bush brownshirt regime revealed itself as lawless, the worst criminal organization in American history.
Now we have the Democrats, and the assault on civil liberty continues. President Obama doesn’t want to hold Bush accountable for his crimes and violations of the Constitution, because Obama wants to retain the powers that Bush asserted. Even the practice of kidnapping people and transporting them to foreign countries to be tortured has been retained by President Obama.
The civil liberties that Bush stole from us are now in Obama’s pocket.
Will it turn out that we enjoyed more liberty under Bush than we will under Obama? At least the Republicans left us the Second Amendment. The Obama Democrats are not going to return our other purloined civil liberties, and they are already attacking the Second Amendment.
Rep. Bobby L. Rush (D, IL) has introduced the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009. As the British and Australians learned, once firearms are registered, the government knows where they are. The government’s next step is to confiscate the firearms.
Moreover, the Act would permit the government to negate Second Amendment rights by refusing to issue a license. Any parents who bequeathed family antique or historic firearms to heirs would be in violation of the act, as it bans any transfer of a firearm other than via a licensed dealer.
William Blackstone, the revered 18th century defender of liberty whose Commentaries on the Laws of England was a bestseller in colonial America, wrote that "the last auxiliary right" of free men is "having arms for their defense." Blackstone, England’s greatest jurist, said that the right to bear arms enables the "natural right of resistance and self-preservation, when the sanctions of society and laws are found insufficient to restrain the violence of oppression."
The Bush regime’s reversion to medieval methods of incarceration and torture are an indication that we now live in a time "when the sanctions of society and laws are found insufficient to restrain the violence of oppression." Why do the Democrats desire Americans to be helpless in the face of oppression by the armed state. How can it be that Democrats want Americans to be free from the threat of being thrown into dungeons and locked away without a court ever hearing evidence, but are prepared to deny Americans the ability to resist such horrendous treatment should it come their way?
In response to my question, one progressive acquaintance said that he wanted to reduce "gun violence." As guns are inanimate objects, I assume he meant violence committed by people who use guns instead of knives, fists or some other weapon.
"Gun violence" is not something committed by the vast majority of gun owners. "Gun violence" is the preserve of the criminal elements, such as gangs fighting over drug turf. Criminals are already prohibited from owning guns, but criminals pay no more attention to this law than they do to laws against robbery, rape, and murder. Why do Democrats think that disarming law-abiding citizens will disarm outlaws? For how many decades have drugs been banned? Does any Democrat think that the ban on drugs has succeeded?
All the ban on drugs has done is to make the drug trade profitable. Now people fight over it. How can guns be successfully banned when the war on drugs is a failure? All a gun ban would do is to create a new criminal activity.
England, in violation of its unwritten constitution, banned ownership of pistols and rifles. But now the police have to be heavily armed, because criminals are now armed, but not law-abiding citizens. When I lived in England, the police were not armed with firearms. I remember reading a few years after the passage of England’s gun ban that criminals were selling submachine guns on London street corners. The police discovered a warehouse in London filled to the brim with machine guns that were being sold to all comers.
So much for gun bans. They only disarm the law abiding and leave them defenseless.
Gun bans also greatly increase the crime rate. When households are armed, robbers prefer houses where no one is home. In England, criminals are no longer deterred from entering an occupied home. The more people at home the better. There might be someone to rape and someone to beat up. There is little to fear from a disarmed household.
When I lived in the metro area of Washington DC, I resided on the Virginia side of the Potomac. There was no problem with owning a gun in Virginia, but in DC, until the recent Supreme Court ruling, the only way a person could have a firearm was to keep it disassembled and unloaded.
The Washington "gun control" ordinance benefitted criminals. The crime rate in DC was much higher than across the river. Despite, or because of, the gun ban, DC was the murder capital of the US.
Police seldom, if ever, prevent a crime. Their job is to appear after a crime is committed and to investigate with a view to identifying the perpetrator. A large number of careful studies show that private gun ownership prevents far more crimes than police ever solve. Criminals are routinely deterred, apprehended, and sometimes killed, by armed private citizens.
In contrast, police, especially the notorious SWAT teams, accidentally kill more law abiding citizens than they do criminals. If anyone should be disarmed, it is the police. When police become militarized, as they increasingly are in the US, their attitude toward the public changes from protective to hostile.

Militarized SWAT teams have established a record of showing up at the wrong address.
In Maryland recently, a SWAT team mistook the mayor and his wife for drug dealers. A large number of armed men in black, and not identified as police, broke into the mayor’s home, killed the family’s Labrador dogs, and held the mayor and his wife spread eagled on the floor with loaded automatic weapons a few inches from their heads. Fortunately for the mayor and his wife, a local policeman happened by and informed the paramilitary unit that it was the mayor and his wife whom the SWAT team was terrorizing.
Many progressives oppose gun ownership because they have sympathy for animals and oppose hunting. However, most gun owners are not hunters. Most members of gun clubs are content to shoot holes in paper targets or at clay pigeons. They enjoy hand-eye coordination, the study of ballistics, and reloading for antique rifles. An outing is really just a chance to get together, to talk about history and the load they are working up for their 1873 Winchester, and to enjoy each other’s company.
There is a vast number of small businesses that exist because of gun ownership. Repairs, customizing, parts, sights, brass, bullets, primers, and powders for reloading, reloading equipment, targets, cleaning, refinishing, engraving, it goes on and on. What would happen to these hundreds of thousands of people, to the family businesses and to the skills accumulated, if Americans are deprived of their Second Amendment rights? We would have another million people deprived of livelihood and on the streets. Would they turn to crime?
The progressive canard is that the Second Amendment, unlike the rest of the amendments to the Constitution, is not a constitutional right for citizens. Rather it is a right for a defunct organization known as the militia. Why in the world would the Founding Fathers, when laying out the rights of individuals, confound the point by sticking in among individual rights a right for a military organization?
But so what if they did. Americans have had squatter’ rights to firearms since 1776.
In 1992 when the Supreme Court revisited Roe v. Wade, the justices acknowledged that the legal argument behind the 1973 decision legitimizing abortion was flawed. However, the justices ruled that women had exercised abortion rights for 19 years, and the passage of time had given women squatters’ rights to abortions.
Americans have exercised Second Amendment rights for 234 years. Regardless of the meaning of the Second Amendment, the right of adverse possession makes gun rights final. To assault such a well grounded right is an act of tyranny.

The cops recognized (at least by default!) that abortion is murder! The sign said something like: “Abort Obama, not babies”. The cops interpreted the sign as a threat to murder..someone. Why aren’t cops pulling over the REAL murderers all across the country (i.e., abortionists)?

Just remember all it takes is a new malum prohibitum law to make thousands or even millions of previously “law abiding citizens” into lawbreakers who lose their “right to keep and bear arms”.People who smoke pot for recreational or medicinal purposes lose their right to keep and bear arms. Pot was legal until 1937.
The American people have not “exercised” their “right to keep and bear arms”,since 1861.
In the old days when there where only malum in se laws,(murder, robbery,rape,ect) the offender if he was’nt killed during the commission of his crime or hung for it, got his rights back after serving his sentence.Today non-violent offenders never get their rights back.

Great article. PCR is spot on with the results and effects of gun bans in the UK and Australia. They started with this dealer authorization and registration. Then it went to Doctors approval which meant anything that could be found to deny a license. Then it went to a board looking at the justification for owning a particular type of gun.
From the eighties to own a gun it had to be stored in a locked box disabled with any ammo stored in another locked box and the house meeting security requirements to prevent a criminal breaking in and being able to access the firearm.
Than it got banned all together (earlier all automatics and semi automatics were banned). Since then, criminal have terrorized inner city neighborhoods with “aggravated burglary”. (They want you in so they can torture bank details out of you). The only people armed are the criminals and the police. You can buy machine pistols, AKM assault variants and a load of army issue 9mm Automatic pistols all on the black-market.
The heavily armed police patrol in riot vans and on stop and search, you get handcuffed and locked in a mobile cage before they even ask your name. This is really scary because you don’t know what is going on and resistance will get you a savage beating or tasering. They don’t need a reason to do this and can profile this racially. (As many black and Asians have found out).
You had better fight this tooth and nail because the tactic they are using is a copy of the step by step process leading to total disarming of law abiding society used by the UK and Australian regimes.

Guardsmen to conduct urban training at Arcadia in April

The Carroll National Guard unit will train on urban military operations by holding a four-day exercise at Arcadia.
The purpose of the April 2-5 drill will be to gather intelligence, then search for and apprehend a suspected weapons dealer, according to Sgt. Mike Kots, readiness NCO for Alpha Company.
Citizens, law enforcement, media and other supporters will participate.
Troops will spend Thursday, April 2, staging at a forward operations base at Carroll. The next day company leaders will conduct reconnaissance and begin patrolling the streets of Arcadia to identify possible locations of the weapons dealer.
The primary phase will be done Saturday, April 4, when convoys will be deployed from Carroll to Arcadia. Pictures of the arms dealer will be shown in Arcadia, and soldiers will go door to door asking if residents have seen the suspect.
Soldiers will knock only at households that have agreed to participate in the drill, Kots noted.
“Once credible intelligence has been gathered,” said Kots, “portions of the town will be road-blocked and more in-depth searches of homes and vehicles will be conducted in accordance with the residents’ wishes.
“One of the techniques we use in today’s political environment is cordon and knock,” Kots explained. “We ask for the head of the household, get permission to search, then have them open doors and cupboards. The homeowner maintains control. We peer over their shoulder, and the soldier uses the homeowner’s body language and position to protect him.”
During this phase of the operation, troops will interact with residents and media while implementing crowd-control measures and possibly treating and evacuating injured persons.
The unit will use a Blackhawk helicopter for overhead command and control, and to simulate medevacs.
The drill will culminate in the apprehension of the suspected arms dealer.
Alpha Company will conduct a review of the drill on Sunday, April 5.
A meeting to give residents more information and accept volunteers will be held 7 p.m. Monday, March 2, in the Arcadia American Legion hall.
Kots said the exercise will replace Alpha Company’s weekend drill for April.
“We have a lot of extended drills this coming year,” he added.
In addition to surveillance, searching and apprehension, the exercise will also give the troops valuable experience in stability, support, patrol, traffic control, vehicle searches and other skills needed for deployment in an urban environment.
“This exercise will improve the real-life operational skills of the unit,” said Kots. “And it will hopefully improve the public’s understanding of military operations.”
The pre-drill work with residents is as important at the drill itself.
“It will be important for us to gain the trust and confidence of the residents of Arcadia,” said Kots. “We will need to identify individuals that are willing to assist us in training by allowing us to search their homes and vehicles and to participate in role-playing.”
“We really want to get as much information out there as possible, because this operation could be pretty intrusive to the people of Arcadia.”

If and when they come for the guns, people should booby trap their homes to take out a few of them along the way. It’s easy to construct a rudimentary and well concealed fire-bomb that will bar-b-que a few of them before they can get inside your home. One could make a claymore and disquise it as a brick in the home. Then you’ll have a ready-made hole in the wall to blast away at them. Simple stuff really! The trick is preparedness people. Know what you will do before you must do it. People in Carroll, IA should NOT volunteer for this unless it is to gain knowledge about their practices and tactics.

The rights of men at that time were to adhere, and respect the sanctity of human conditions against oppressive powers of nepotism, despotism and greed. These constructive statements and ideologies of the past; now more than ever, apply at this particular time to the American form of government comparitive to the British Empire that controlled the colonies over 200 years ago. Morever, in today’s regard, it conjures the present American political alliance of Constitutional Government as overtly contemptuos to the doctrines administered by the founding fathers on domestic and foreign policies which binds these soveriegn fifty states under a union at present.
Therefore, with a continuity of disservice by the political oligarchy chosen by corporate agendas; not the republic for which it stands, these United States have become thus disolved by social distortion, and misinterpreted from the foundations of the surveyors of original law. In current times, manipulations of inherent rights given by a true democracy, along with the excursion of diplomatic norms have proven that the present ideologies reveal reasons of deceit, and megalomania uncontrolled by the regulators of political dogmas known as the citizenry under a true republics framework. The perpetrators of disillusion known as elected diplomats, are immersed in a society that relishes the animosity with a blind eye as the obstruction of freedom knocks on their own door, with extreme guile ironically. A stable society therefore, must and has to rely on the embarkment of free will if it is to sustain, and administer the God given inalienable rights of Liberty and Justice.
The people known as citizens do have a right to form an allegiance of social justice in times of social disorder and disarray; this is their inherent right; which is stated specifically in law under federal contract known in the Constitution under the Second Ammendment right which grants them the ability to construct a ‘peaceful assembly’. Second, this particular manifestation of liberty grants a ‘well-regulated militia’ of American citizens; nevertheless, ‘with arms’,albeit guns, that can establish a new foundation of government as it chooses, specified under extreme duress as those articles were implied to procure in the Bill of Rights.
A Republic loses a stonghold on liberty, and any frequency of solidarity with freedom when certain power structures in control manipulate the desires of human reason and accountability as we see today. Treason, usurpations, and maniacal acts are all to common amidst the social indoctrination of present times for men and women under the current leadership. Lawlessness will occur under the rouge of (quasi corporate-government agendas), so long as the people allow it, and it will continually effect them in deplorable fashion. Present doctrines at work are not foreign from the eyes, and mind of histories memory. Therefore, people in general will prevail, or become the ashes blown over by a new generation that is burdened by our mistakes; unless they adapt to the adversarial techniques engrained by humanity in the past.
