Georgia is mobilizing commando units near its border with South Ossetia, a senior Russian military official said on Tuesday.
Russia officially recognized South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states on August 26, saying the move was needed to protect the regions after Georgia’s August 8 attack on South Ossetia.
“According to our information, Georgian security forces are trying to restore their [military] presence in Georgian populated villages in South Ossetia. With this aim, Georgia is mobilizing its special forces from the interior and defense ministries near the administrative border with South Ossetia,” Col. Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of Russia’s General Staff, said.
He also said that Russia had deployed 19 peacekeeping observation posts in South Ossetia to provide security and stability in the republic, adding that South Ossetian military detachments were also mobilizing near the border to counter any possible Georgian attacks.
Georgia attacked South Ossetia on August 8 in an attempt to regain control over the republic, which split from Tbilisi in the early 1990s. Most people living in South Ossetia have Russian citizenship and Moscow subsequently launched an operation to “force Georgia to accept peace.” The operation was concluded on August 12.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Sunday that Russian support for South Ossetia and Abkhazia envisaged military as well as economic assistance.

Georgia wants to get its ass kicked again!!
So much for elite Israeli Commando training.
Their power comes when dealing with unarmed ill equipped Gazans.
And U.S. troops haven’t won a war since WW II.

World War One I believe, was the first “managed conflict.” Since that time , pretty well all of the international hostilities on the planet earth can be proven to have been started and ended on schedules. It is unlikely that you and I will recognise these things as they happen, as they only become apparent historically. The internet here is the wild card, and do you really think that we understand it’s “purity?”"We” might be giving “them” all of our thoughts, and they now completely understand how powerful we are or are not. Any true revolution will NOT be blogged.

Getting pretty heated now. If I’m not mistaken, those Special Forces have been trained by the Israelis…Things might get ugly over there before it does over here.
September 2nd, 2008 at 7:21 pm
omg what are they thinking, stupid morons!! well we are almost guaranteed that Russia will hit those nato ships now, why? because US ‘aid’ was used to attack those two new republics!!
September 2nd, 2008 at 7:42 pm
It seems that the Georgians are gonna be getting killed again.
September 2nd, 2008 at 7:44 pm
those israeli trained special pizza forces are the same guys that sneak attacked ossetia the first time.
the only difference now is the 18 ship georgian-aiding nato armada that will provide at least guiding intelligence and electronic interferance.

It’s obvious to some that this whole thing is some powerful person(cheney+friends) poking russia in the eye using their willing-collaborator Georgian leader. Attempts to win the election could go in many directions. They’ll roll the dice while they have power. John McCain won’t investigate them, which is why they picked him. Recently they called him and told him who his running mate is. Retain power just like Putin but from a mansion somewhere. Cool.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Russia ain’t going to mess around this time. Tblisi and NATO warships in the black sea will be wiped off the face of the earth.
If I was in the Georgian military I’d AWOL that useless suicide mission. Maybe hunt down Sakos---i on my way out.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:37 pm
hebinaro i totally agree. anyone who has even play a simple strategy game like command and conquer or warcraft would understand that this is the stupidest move one could take. i mean, unless your trying to lose.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:39 pm
who the hell pokes a fight with Russia?
especially when their current culture is based on their tarnished and declined image in the world (thus they want to reclaim their power and prestige).
you’re messing with a very pissed off country..being in the shadow of the US since the cold war

Please listen to this . I am 47 years old , and have been studying politics and any source of information
on the NWO I could find . My heart is breaking for the young people in this nation . I know you have dreams,
plans and great hopes for your future . So , I say this with all the patriotism that we share , GET OUT OF AMERICA AND GET OUT NOW! This is not about running from a fight or giving up . It is about saving family and yourselves from pure hell .
Do you understand what you are up against ? They have been planning this since , before your grandparents were born . They have standing foreign troops ( Chinese on the West coast, German troops
in the desert states , and Russian troops in the Great lakes ) biological weapons , and I’ve read and heard of
buried nukes in major cities . Travel is still possible for most of you . I am not asking you to run . I am begging you to survive.
My generation and before might not of been able to stop this but , we could have done a helluva lot better job . Please leave if you can ( not Mexico or Canada ) and take as many of your family as you can.
I will be here in Tulsa helping family and friends that won’t or can’t leave . I’ve lived long enough and maybe helping these people ( till the come and get me ) will atone fore my laziness and sins . I’m sorry I didn’t do a better job .

September 3rd, 2008 at 3:21 am
I don’t care who is gbehind this, this is unacceptable and I hope Russia catches this crap and does it in a way that works the international community towards thier side. Bush, Brown and that Muppet leading Georgia into oblivian need to piss off.
Russia needs to be very restraint in it’s dealings with these idiots but capture as many Georgian comandoes as possible and flood all media channels with any info on their mission and purpose and who is really behind the whole deed. Parade the lackies and treat them well but let the world know what they are about. Make the rest of the planet sit up and give a crap.
Not only that, the US is now sending troops across the border into Pakistan’s Northern regions. They have Nukes too (Pakistan), wonder what will happen there as most Pakistanis support the Taliban as do most of Southern Afghanistan. Maybe Russia needs to consider arming the Taliban like the US did the Mujahadeen back in the 80’s?? See how NATO likes it.

There is a grand game of international-chess playing out.
The Russian peacekeepers have a mandate to provide security until the international community deploys it’s peacekeepers into the region.
Meanwhile the international community is dragging it’s feet and avoiding deployment while criticizing Russia for everything from defending it’s citizens from georgian attack/genocide to posting troops in the region to maintain the peace.
While this dog and pony show lingers on, the West is arming Georgia’s Saakas---vili and he is staging commandos near the newly established buffer zone.
Could the lack of entheusiasm by the West to deploy peacekeepers be due to their knowledge of an attack in the very near future?
It would explain a lot.
If the West does persuade Saakas---vili to attack again, will Russia be as restrained as they were initially?
I predict a very cold winter for Europe if they allow the madness of king George to prevail.
September 3rd, 2008 at 7:32 am
I have to note the irony of imprisoning U.S. border patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean who were wrongly imprisoned for defending themselves while upholding the law in America.
How ironic that someone like Saakas---vili who commits genocide , gets aid from the West and it’s puppet nations in the E.U. while Compean and Ramos languish in a U.S. prison for injuring a dope dealer that the U.S. government was protecting.

Georgia admits dropping cluster bombs, says rights group
Human Rights Watch says it has letter acknowledging use of cluster bombs near Russian border tunnel

Article history
Georgia has admitted dropping cluster bombs during its attempt to regain control of its breakaway province of South Ossetia, a human rights group said today.
Human Rights Watch said it had received a letter from the Georgian defence ministry acknowledging the use of M85 cluster bombs near the Roki tunnel that connects South Ossetia with Russia.
Georgia launched its ill-fated campaign to retake South Ossetia last month, prompting Russia to invade Georgia and occupy Georgian territory. Human Rights Watch has accused Russia of using cluster bombs in populated areas in Georgia, killing at least 11 civilians and injuring dozens.
The New York-based group last month called on Russia to immediately stop using cluster bombs, which 100 countries recently agreed to ban.
“Cluster bombs are indiscriminate killers that most nations have agreed to outlaw. Russia’s use of this weapon is not only deadly to civilians, but also an insult to international efforts to avoid a global humanitarian disaster of the kind caused by landmines,” Marc Garlasco, a senior military analyst at Human Rights Watch, said recently.
The South Ossetia conflict was the first time cluster bombs were deployed since the Lebanon war in 2006, when M85s were used extensively by Israel against Hizbullah.
Cluster munitions, which contain dozens or hundreds of smaller submunitions or bomblets, have been condemned because of their capacity to kill and maim civilians. Many do not immediately explode, causing civilian casualties for months or years to come.
In May, 107 nations agreed to a total ban on cluster munitions, but Russia did not take part in the talks. Russia was not part of the Oslo process launched in February 2007 to develop a new international treaty banning cluster munitions.
The convention on cluster munitions agreed in May comprehensively bans the use, production, trade and stockpiling of the weapon. It will be open for signature in Oslo on December 3.

What a post -Georgia is mobilizing commando units near its border with South Ossetia, a senior Russian military official said on Tuesday.
What a nonsense Russia is using this stuff like the Right Wing Extremists in the USA – Iraq has weapons of mass destruction – then Invasion of Iraq.
What will be next – Russia will take over Georgia ?
September 5th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Yes Damir, Russia wants to take over Georgia. And Ukraine. And all the other former Soviet “republics” (colonies, I mean).
Not that they’re any better than the neo-imperialists in the US, same old story, same old song and dance.
