BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s governing coalition partners want to change the constitution to allow for military deployment within the country if needed to combat terrorism, officials said Monday.

The proposal would allow use of the military only if police are overwhelmed and cannot properly respond to a situation themselves.
“It is not to be used generally, but only in very specific cases,” Interior Ministry spokeswoman Daniela-Alexandra Pietsch said.
The center-left Social Democratic Party — which makes up half of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s coalition — had been opposed to the proposal but agreed late Sunday after working out an agreement that includes strict guidelines for domestic deployment.
“We’re talking only about emergency help,” Social Democrat parliamentary leader Peter Struck said. For example, the navy could be called to help in a situation where police maritime patrols were not sufficient, he said.
The proposal will now go to Merkel’s Cabinet and then to parliament for approval.
Given Germany’s militaristic past, many are hesitant to expand the role of soldiers domestically. Currently, the German military can be deployed within the country only in times of war, or to help with emergencies or natural disasters.
Following the announcement of the new proposal, opposition Left Party lawmaker Petra Pau accused the government of seeking to violate a constitutionally dictated division “between army, police and secret services.”

The people in Eastern Germany rose up to the communst dictatorship on June 17 1953. The govt responded with tanks and soldiers, killing hundreds.
This act of patriotic bravery now has to be forgotten. The govt today does not want to make 17 June a national holiday and day of remembrance. They don’t want this to be an example fo the people.

I live in Germany and all i have to say is, what a load of bull, “only emergency help”, we´ve had several floodings during the last 15 years, and never , i repeat never they needed anything that allowed the army to help, they just were ordered!
for example:
- To build dams with sandbags to stop or prevent the water from flooding inner cities
- To look after people which couldn´t leave their home like old people or people that weren´t warned soon enough or simply surprised by the flood !
Never such an proposal was needed only for actions of help, never!
Maybe we will get “OUR” terrorist attack soon, so they can pull off the same freaking surveilance and police state show like in the US or the UK.
Also 1 year ago, Chancellor Merkel stated, on live tv ! :

Boy they really got this thing figured out – so they think. Just in case our own military turns their guns in the direction they should shoot – at the NWO and those giving the orders – they’re gearing up foreign troops who are more likely to carry out their agenda with no hesitation. I am honored that you even know of me being here so long as you say in your comment #22. I will agree that I am not always fully on-topic, but by you saying that I am worthless around here is then saying that you have something against ones like Dr. Ron Paul. Since I know that that is not so, then I feel that you just have some “thing” for (not against) me and wish that you could take me out on a date to dinner some night. In that respect, it almost seems that you want to get Anna out for a date also, but I will leave her talk for herself on her interpretation of what you said about her putting us in the same category.
Lighten up somewhat. This place needs a woman’s touch. For that matter, that would include Anna. Actually, Anna makes sense sometimes. At least she explains many times as to her rationalization. Is that the quality of a woman? Maybe, but as you can see, she and I do have different opinions. It does not matter too much since all you have to do is lighten up (and no, that will get you a date with me–hehe) and then you just might get your chance for that date someday.

I think the past activities of German forces all had to be approved directly by the chancellor on a case by case basis, not sure though. But if that’s the case, the difference to what they are pulling off now is that authority has been transferred down the ranks.
This will lead to a shodow government, a parallel military government that reaches into the conventional power structure.
Isn’t this what went on in several central and south american countries? Can you say J-U-N-T-A ??

I’ am German, and I live there, and I’ve got the news yesterday on the evening news.
Instead of taking the first step towards a NWO police state, they should loosen the law for gun posession for upright citizens to protect themselves from more and more foreign mafia and gangsters in the streets.
This development get’s to me, because I know, that this ‘move’ is orchestrated by Merkel, who is very clever, but not wise.
She wants to bring us the new Lisbon Treaty (EU constitution) that will guide us into tyranny again,
without approval of the people. Only a few truely educated people are fighting against it, like Prof. Dr. Schachtschneider.
According to him, the whole EU Parliament is working against any true understanding of democracy, and has to be changed.
They want to shove a tyrannical EU constitution down our throughts, and we haven’t even got a GERMAN constitution yet!!! Only the ‘Grundgesetz’, which could be translated ‘ Basic Law’ or
‘ Fundamental Laws’.
Yes, also we are still officially under the corporate American boot right now!
Every new german constitution would have to be signed by America, just like the ‘Grundgesetz’ had.
No wonder Barack Obama claimed his ‘ Householders Rights’ when he outlawed signs at his NWO rally in Berlin some weeks ago, and had even chosen the place where the speech should be held himself! I am also from Germany, asking myself, how all these idiots among us, the so called german Michel, will understand, what is going to happen here in the near future.
In comparison to an American citizen, we have been totally disarmed, so people are almost helpless to protect themselves from a rising facist state. Once more the military stands against us.
Most of the people always argue, that they “have nothing to hide”, which means that they featherbrained believe, that our goverment is democratic, not corrupt and false.
So everybody who jottles their rosy view of the world is either paranoid or a conspiracy theorist.

Hey look at this! Now they are putting combat brigades into their country too!! Let’s step back and look at the events in the last 2 weeks, because we are screwed. We pass the “Bailout” Now Europe is getting their own passed. We are building a 4,700 troop (We all know they forgot a zero there, 47,000 troops) COMBAT brigade in Georgia. Sorry folks. I’ve lived there. Germany is esentially an Englo/American Colony. Topsy Kretts is right. Problem Most of us have a choise to make. We can either do the right thing, or we won’t have a wife at home when we get home, because we have no support from our families. Call it what you will, but a lot of us are just trying to keep our families together, otherwise our wives will leave, and will really be at risk. So we are waiting for them to come after us in our homes and farms. Gut up? Topsy Kretts is right. We all have to gut up at the same time. Start a “Neighborhood Watch group”. In 1775 They called it a militia. We need to start one in our town and start training quietly and for God sake use our dam heads, and keep calm especially around our wives. They can’t hadle it.
