Global Cooling? Unprecedented Ice Storms In Kenya

Evidence that the planet is tip-toeing towards the onset of a new mini ice age continues to present itself following unprecedented ice storms in Kenya as well as Sydney experiencing its coldest August for 60 years. But don’t worry because according to the World Wildlife Fund, global cooling can just as easily be blamed on CO2 emissions as can global warming.

The cold snap arrives on the back of the Sun reaching a milestone not observed in nearly 100 years - the entire month of August passed without a single sunspot being noted.
Lack of solar activity in 2008 has coincided with evidence of a cooling trend across the world.
Earlier this year, China experienced its coldest winter in 100 years while northeast America was hit by record snow levels and Britain suffered its coldest April in decades as late-blooming daffodils were pounded with hail and snow on an almost daily basis. The British summer also left many yearning for global warming, with temperatures in June and July rarely struggling to get over 16 degrees and on one occasion even dropping as low as 9 degrees in the middle of the afternoon.

“Summer heat continues in short supply, continuing a trend that has dominated much of the 21st Century’s opening decade,” reports the Chicago Tribune. “There have been only 162 days 90 degrees or warmer at Midway Airport over the period from 2000 to 2008. That’s by far the fewest 90-degree temperatures in the opening nine years of any decade on record here since 1930.”
According to an Associated Press report, The Farmers Almanac is now also predicting “below-average temperatures for most of the U.S.” The publication boasts of an 85 per cent accuracy rate for its forecasts which are given two years in advance.
According to a report from the World Meteorological Organization last month, the first half of 2008 was the coolest for at least five years, adding that it may actually be the coolest since 2000.
Meanwhile, Arctic ice has expanded by 30 per cent since this time last year as respected scientists predict a new mini ice age within 10 years.
Continuing the trend, parts of Kenya just experienced unprecedented ice storms after which 4 inch deep hail covered the ground.
“Residents of a village in central Kenya were shocked to see a blanket of hail resembling snow covering their land,” reports the BBC.
“I have not seen such a thing ever since I was born,” said one resident of Nyahururu.
Hail storms in western Kenya are not unknown, but the hail normally melts instantly because of high temperatures on the ground. Not this time around, and Kenyans were keen to take advantage of the rare event by enjoying numerous photo opportunities.
Meanwhile, in Sydney, Australians are talking about “the big chill,” the coldest August in Sydney for more than 60 years.
So what’s to blame for the sudden cold snap affecting many parts of the globe? The rapid decrease in solar activity, an event that has always preceded similar mini-ice age periods throughout history?
Not according to the World Wildlife Fund, who blame human-caused CO2 emissions for the cold snap.
That’s right – in case you weren’t aware of the new climate change catch-all explanation, CO2 now causes global warming as well as global cooling.
All weather events, be it rainfall, storms, hurricanes, typhoons or earthquakes are also caused by CO2 emissions.
But don’t worry because experts have the solution that can save us all from global warming, global cooling, or whatever the weather happens to be doing at any particular time.
At a cost to the taxpayer of around $100 billion dollars a year, as part of a program to “geo-engineer” the world, scientists are proposing to build a fleet of spaceships that will be sent up above the Earth’s atmosphere, spanning half the diameter of the entire planet, to block out the Sun from reaching parts of the globe.
But I thought CO2, and not the Sun, was the main driver of climate change?
Maybe Barney the purple dinosaur is the true culprit behind it all – but whatever the explanation – at least I can be assured that my government and the esteemed experts advising them will do their level best to tax and control every aspect of my behavior in the interests of saving us all from global warming, global cooling, or whatever else the weather decides to do tomorrow.

If they would just sit down and shut up we wouldn’t notice it so much that the temerature is getting colder and not warmer. Maybe if the “investigative journalists” would investigate the crap we’re getting sprayed with,ie. “chemtrails” we might learn why our skies are gray instead of blue and why there are so many hurricanes and why it’s getting colder sooner. San Diego had a week of 0*, while Pheonix got an inch of snow. WTF??? Colorado’s snow totals were astronomical! In the central and southern mountains, they saw 25 and 30 FEET, not inches of snow last winter in some areas! Global warming my ass, more like global freezing my ass off!! OK, so what we have here is that the SUN is causing all the global warming problems. Hey, at least they are admitting it and that is a step in the right direction.
The government is going to spend our money on something, so why not have it spent on protecting the earth from the sun? besides, other countries are going to help pay for that project.
What many people fail to realize is that planet earth is a hostile environment, it is not always a nice place to live. There have been extreme earth uphevals in the past and there probably will be some in the future. If we have the technology to protect ourselves we should by all means use it, or man will become extinct, like 99% of the species that walked this earth before.
Only time will tell if man is intelligent enough to hang on and not become another extinct earth species.

I’m a meteorology student. HAIL forms inside big friggin thunderstorms. The ice pellets form when when water vapor gets circulated through the clouds. When it reaches the upper atmosphere it gets very cold, freezes, and starts to fall. It partially melts as it falls through relatively warm air and is again carried aloft and refreezes. This process happens repeatedly until the ice pellets are heavy enough to fall. Evedence of the process can be seen by slicing through a hail pellet. The ice is layered suggesting thawing and refreezing. The thunderstorms that produce hail are massive storms with extremely high cloud tops. Thunderstorms are produced by WARM weather e.g. unstable air masses that are highly charged with water vapor. So a freak hail storm in Africa, although unusual, doesn’t mean it’s getting colder or warmer. It’s just a freak storm.

The entire idea of climate is that it changes… If it were static, then no one whould have ever noticed a distinction between the changing of the seasons, and thus the climate. To try to scare us by claiming that the climate is changing? That’s like trying to scare us by claiming that the grass is green, that there isn’t as much light at night as there is during the day, or that creatures like the Dinosaurs don’t die off without the help of the human extinction machine.
FYI I have taken many environmental studies classes, and I work as a researcher for a Div 1 college in an environmental field. The very fact that we’ve got a variable (solar activity) that is obviously directly related to weather and is not taken into acount by the “global warming” crowd, since there “is no intelligent debate” (which is how you know it’s not science), means that all of the models used to predict climate change are about as useful as the paper their predictions are modelled on. Follow the money, it’s all about grant money for the “global warming” scientists. I know, I work with an entire school full of them.

It’s my understanding that hail can fall when it’s hot. I was surprised to see hail falling in Washington D.C. on a hot summer’s day once, and I’ve seen hail in Australia and China on hot days. Mr. Watson, I believe, as you do, that Anthropogenic Global Warming is a farce, but your eagerness to grasp at evidence without taking the time to understand makes you vulnerble to criticism.

Over the last month I’ve been having a dialog between a friend in Anacortes Washington about global warming. He’s totally closed minded. He said even if there isn’t global warming, we should still continue to do the things that will make our planet a better place to live. He mentioned the pollution in China. I forgot to tell him that China is exempt from the Kyoto Treaty. I could kick myself for not remembering to tell him that. The funniest email I received from him about 3 weeks ago was an article from a scientific magazine about how global warming causes kidney stones. It’s amazing how people with above average intelligence can be complete idiots. It’s absolutely amazing. We need to continue to expose the fraud of Al Gore and company and quash this global warming nonsense once and for all.

The weather is wacky. Here where I live, we’ve only had a couple of days in the 100s. Usually we get about 2 to 3 weeks of it. Meanwhile, there are huge ice shelves breaking off in the Artic. I guess if you deniers are wrong or we’ll have to fly our starships to another planet to live on. Oh wait!

It has been plainly obvious to astronomical observers that the sun is cooling down some. We had massive sun spot eruptions through the late 90’s. Viewing the planets of the solar system near earth we have seen similar effects from the super sun spot activity (glacial melting) in the 90’s. Now, with the loss of any significant sunspot activity, we sure will go through a rapid cool down cycle UNRELATED TO CARBON DIOXIDE.
Radio and satellite signal activities were affected in the late 90’s because the sun spot cycle activity was off the charts leading to approximately 2000. Now in 2008 this is no longer the case. For the time being sunspot activity is flat. Global warming is the product of a perverse international agenda. It has no connection to reality. It is the tax that counts. Global warming cannot stand any advanced scientific analysis.
Just remember to use your sunscreen. It does not mean UVA and UVB have gone down that dramatically. An hour a day of natural sunlight is healthy for you. After that, don’t press it. Global Warming, Total BS. MUAH!

Guess what, the Earth will be here long after we are not, plants need CO2 to breathe and give us oxygen, and it is water vapour that clouds are made of. Climate Change is not a crisis, pollution and environmental degradation is. Look at Haiti right now, after a hurricane, and after they deforested the island, floods, and mudslides. DUH!

Temperature is regulated by the Sun; sunspot activity is the indicator – not human industrial activity.

We’ve had the coolest summer here in Illinois sense the the 80’s, Global warming is a joke, Fucking Glaciers move, and when they grow, they will break off and fall into the ocean. Global warming has made alot of people rich, just like our jackoff wars. be rational – “Al Gore won a nobel peace prize”. What’s your point, so did Henry Kissinger. “That usually means something to people”. Good for them, and good for you, maybe it does’nt to others. Maybe others judge the worth of the recipient on an individual basis by what they have actually accomplished/put forth, and, if they are receiving the award for a sham, the title itself means nothing. I agree whole heartedly that what we spew into the environment has consequences, and something should be done about it, but that’s not the point. The twisting of the facts for personal gain(and control of the environment) and the highjacking of real environmental movements is.
I’m sure you do read and study facts from non-corporate publications. I personally don’t really bother, I go with my gut and he still looks creepy to me. What you should look into is what the hell are they doing spraying chemicals in the sky, plus all the other ways weather can be manipulated. If you leave that out, and weather can be manipulated, then all weather predictions and theories are shot out the window. Oh, btw, many health publications, ran by truly sincere people, still say flouride is good for you, so… there you go. Just cause “everybody”(even sincere people) BELIEVE something to be correct, does’nt mean it is. I don’t enjoy “bursting bubbles” and I rarely do it in ‘real life’, but this is infowars, nobody made you come here.

In way Northern California, we had alot of snow, last winter.11 feet. It went over many people’s

While Al Gore may initially have good intentions and has done some good to help decrease pollution of by industrial chemicals and the like, if you really study the literature on CLIMATE CHANGE you find that much of what Al Gore says is simply exaggerated. Check out http://www.petitionproject.org
The Nobel Peace Price is an honorable thing yes, but to give it to Al Gore for doing not much more than presenting a slide-show presentation seems a little ridiculous.
I do agree that we should care for our environment because in the end it, in turn, affects us…health wise, economically, socially, etc.
After much research it is very apparent that climate change is statistically very, very, very, very hard to predict beyond a very short period of time.

Yeah, famine is a man-made disaster. If you look at natural history and prehistory, there is rarely ever a time when nature itself has caused a famine.
Look at Israel’s diversion of the Jordan river which use to irrigate Palestinian farms. And the UN says its a famine from natural drought…
Look at the Victorian Age where Britain ruled colonial India. Natural weather patterns had induced a drought BUT… The famines that occurred then did so because the trading companies refused to allow excess grain for release to the public. In fact, the British overlords did something very cruel. They used those who were caught begging, protesting, or simply asking as forced labor in what were death camps. The amount of people that died in these camps may have equaled Hitler’s genocide campaign, or may have exceeded them. The British only kept limited casualty figures.
In that context, I find it amusing (in a very dark, sad way) that the Western world, with the free market for-profit system, would be warning against famines. We have more food than we need, plus more to feed several third world countries. These countries can’t even feed themselves because the Western governments insert their favorite little dictator, and seize property for gov’t subsidized farms who ruin the fresh water, air, and even the food supply with disgusting chemicals and GM food.
Food is such a big part of the coming conflict. They will tell you, and many others throughout the world, that there is nothing to eat. They won’t tell you how easy it is to dig roots, find wild plants, or even plant your own garden that could feed a family and some neighbors.
Start growing your own food, people. Take back something that isn’t a Right, but a damn necessity. Don’t let it be controlled by individuals who want to rape your lively hood, then tell you there is no food… Food is one area where we can still achieve independence from the system. Do it before it is too late.

The Great Red Spot on Jupiter flys around that world at 19.5 degrees latitude.

We had it slightly wrong. It is eating meat is a major cause (18%) of global warming, not cars (13%).

Hey Gabba, let me get this straight. For how long the ‘good’ records have been kept? 30 years, 100 years, 1000 years, 2000 years? So even if we assume we have records for last 2000 years. Now, how statistically significant your sample is compared to four and half BILLION years earth exists!
Your sample of 2000 years is more than two-million times smaller! I’ll use analogy, you will ask just only two people in two-million nation to tell you how well their economy is doing!
On top of that, your sample is not even random sample, it is the sample concentrated at the end of investigated period (life of earth), which means it scientifically absolutely INSIGNIFICANT.
Did you ever wonder why Greenland is called Greenland? It is because it used to be green like todays Ireland when Norwegians discovered it thousand years ago. Did you know they used to grow grain in northern Scandinavia, where nowadays it is too cold to grow there anything? Why do you thing in medieval ages people used to live in these huge cold castles made from stone cubes – because it used to be much warmer back then!
