Governor says Arizona Sept. 11 Memorial bill faces hurdle

A bill before the Legislature that would make changes to the state’s September 11 Memorial faces a tough sale when it comes to Governor Napolitano.

The governor says it’s going to take a lot of convincing to get her to believe that the Legislature can do a better job than a gubernatorial commission considering changes to the memorial in the face of criticism.

A bill approved by a House panel would replace all 54 inscriptions etched into the memorial’s face with a basic timeline of the events of September 11, 2001.
