The International Monetary Fund announced on Thursday that the Greek government made a payment of 186.3 million euros towards for interest charges that were due on Thursday.

According to the IMF’s statement, “Greece has paid the interest charges due to the IMF today”. Early in June and July Greece missed nearly 2 billion euros worth of payments and became the first developed country to default on an IMF loan.

The next payment due to the IMF in September is worth 306 million euros. In total, Greece owes 22 billion euros to the Washington-based institution.
