Greece has seen a week of major protests sparked by the shooting of a teenage boy. There’s widespread discontent in the country blamed on rising poverty, corruption and unemployment. Other problems linked to Greece’s membership of the EU have also played a role.
Seventeen years after the collapse of the Eastern Bloc, the red flag is in fashion again on the streets of Europe. This time it’s the streets of Athens and Thessalonika that are aflame with the rage of young people.
“It was not only the murder of Alexis that makes us come out on the streets. It’s poverty and unemployment,” one of the protesters said.
These people are called the 700 euro generation because that is all they can hope to earn after finishing university.
But membership of the EU and its single currency has led to soaring living costs in Greece, and many in the younger generation fear their future is among the poor.
Celebrated Greek writer Mimis Androvlakis predicts “a conflict between generations” in the future.
“There is a very deep dissatisfaction among young people today against the structure of Europe,” Androvlakis said.
In his writings, Androvlakis has explained why the European Union has failed Greece.
“We have a common currency, but we don’t have common policies and traditions. We can’t reduce the price of the euro to give us an advantage in exports,” he says.
And this may be the heart of the problem. Greeks are different from Western Europeans in every way.
Greece is a Balkan nation in Europe wanting to be a European nation in the Balkans. Its spirit and soul is closer to Eastern Europe, so it’s not surprising the first cracks in the European Union are appearing here.
Opposition member of the Greek parliament, Gionnis Magriotis, says it’s time Europe learned to accommodate difference.
“The EU must change its social policy and deal not only with countries’ economies, but see that each nation has its own tradition and way of living,” he said.
Member of the European parliament, Margaritis Shinas, points to the problem of globalization.
“We are in a globalised economy. Money moves beyond frontiers, the crisis moves beyond frontiers, but the structures for control, accountability and democratic accountability are still national,” she said.
Meanwhile, demonstrators are threatening to continue their street protests until officials in Brussels understand that the economy is more than numbers; it’s geography, history, tradition and soul.

Tell us sea captain, who are we going to be shooting? Our local criminals-check, rogue cops- check, NATO troops- check. Meanwhile, the elite kick back in Dubai, drink champagne, perhaps watch a musical. I suggest those of you with private jets need to assemble your teams and start taking people out. Citizens shooting at each other or at uniformed folks makes no sense.

infowars.com = get people excited in order to make a bunch of dumb hillbilly McVeigh types give them a reason to implement the plan.
Idiots. You’ve been had.
Better get a really good flu shot if you honestly believe you’re ever bringing down the bank ;P
December 16th, 2008 at 1:43 am
My first impression to what is happening in Greece now may in time make it’s way to our shores here in the United States. With very high unemployment,no jobs readily available, could spark a wide spread violent reaction among the the youth and old alike. This reaction may if severe enough would require forces beyond local police,in that particular state, were the violence is occurring. After that who knows what would happen.Anyone care to guess?
December 16th, 2008 at 2:01 am
#4 thinker, if for 1 second u believe that the plan is awaiting public reaction to be implemented, you are the idiot whose been had. wake up you pompous ass, the plan has been in effect for a long time.
December 16th, 2008 at 2:32 am
#1 Yep think your right, maybe even hope your right. I think we have sat by to long and watched the looting go on and on. It needs to come here. Americans should be pissed but they are to afraid, to scared of something to show their anger and discontent. Sad.
I suppose the people are much to like #4 Mr. thinker, quasi intellectual that sit back and let someone else do the work because he’s a coward and thinks the objective is to much for him to attempt, so he’ll just lay down. It’s not the peoples timetable idiot, it’s the enemy’s. I wish they would bring it out in the open. Or #3 That if your not part of the solution, your part of the problem and if you dont like getting shot at, take off your uniform. If you dont know who the bad guys are and where to find them, by now, go back to sleep.

I went to Greece both the year before and the year after they introduced the Euro currency. In one year the prices of had doubled. I doubt that their wages had doubled though. I can understand why they feel poor.
December 16th, 2008 at 2:51 am
The Sea Captain is an idiot and Provoker of Violence. The article above delt with the real issues facing Greece/Europe/Humanity. When a poorer country adopts a stronger ‘Free Market’ based currency, all that happens is PRICES go up but WAGES stay the same or go down. Hence the crisis. We understand Alex. Stand Up, Speak the Truth, Demand Action on the REAL issues facing this world.
December 16th, 2008 at 3:01 am
The EU is now being exposed as an artificial joke.
The problems there are much worse than the problems in the US.
This probably will not happen here.
December 16th, 2008 at 3:16 am
#3 couldnt be more correct. All riots do is allow the elite to implement their plans for the world at a much faster rate. They will be sitting back and watching us destroy each other. These are the people that the riots and violence must be directed toward.
December 16th, 2008 at 3:47 am
To say that Rioting will only play into the hands of the NWO and able them to implement their plans sooner,
is as good as saying we wont win!
if we riot we wont win
but if we do NOTHING!
i can assure you we wont win
action is the only solution,
THE ONLY SOLUTION!
December 16th, 2008 at 4:17 am
violence is a last resort… but it has its place.
never submit
December 16th, 2008 at 4:24 am
Due to the Euro all Europeans lost some 25/30 % of every cent they had.
I hope this will spread like wild fire all over Europe.
December 16th, 2008 at 5:06 am
Just to correct my #11 statement, riots do need to take place but must be directed towards the proper targets. Take out those who will implement the nwo decisions.
December 16th, 2008 at 6:07 am
we need to get sombody like jon rambo and arnie to go and take out the rthchilds, rockafellers, heads of leman bro, heads of codex, and similer.
no point in fighting with our brother or nieghbor who is a cop acting as riot police that day. next time there is a builderberg meeting I’m shure we could get a bom in there or fly a jet into that building.
any one have a spare jet for a good cause!
I can make napalm who’s with me?
December 16th, 2008 at 6:55 am
what we’re seeing is the first cracks in the nwo, oorah greece
December 16th, 2008 at 7:07 am
I’m not surpirsed to see this happening in Greece. Greece is the Malaka Republic.
December 16th, 2008 at 7:11 am
In America, this won’t be necessary. Simply stock up on food, stop working (paying taxes) and wait it out. Currently the fed lives off taxes and borrowed money. If we stop payin taxes, eventually the loaning countries will stop as well. with no money, the government will collapse. no military in the streets, no government imposing martial law, no anything. People won’t work for free. their mindset will turn to survival and their families. Then we can change things. It’ll be tough, but worth it. and we’ll never have to fire a shot.
December 16th, 2008 at 7:51 am
Nothing will change. These riots will not spread. The divide amongst the people is already too great to allow them to come together to effectivley fight the oncoming Globalist train. In England I can tell you there will never be any more riots. The population here have no morality and have long forgotten that to die a free man is better than to live without dignity. All would sit back and just watch if they were to see there neighbours or friends being dragged away by the corporate soldiers in blue, the British have no more fight, no more back bone. We have become so tolerent thanks to multi culturism, sexual equality, so obediant to what our masters tell us. We need the rest of the world and Europe to emancipate us from our slavery. God Help us All.
December 16th, 2008 at 8:23 am
if america is going to wait to long, it will have another 20,000 soldiers to deal with. 20,000 soldiers protecting those who stole all the wealth!!!
December 16th, 2008 at 8:46 am
for the banksters there is only one thing “control”. they care nothing about traditions, societies, cultures. they will wipe out everything and anything just in order to bring in one thing: one currency!
so here is a question: should america wait until the 20,000 soldiers occupy the republic? or should they react soon as possible? after all, they will have 20, 000 soldiers more to deal with if they wait to long!!!
December 16th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Now that Bush has formally joined us to the evil European Union; they will begin imposing their will on us as they will suck our economy dry and finally have total control over us!! And they have been controlling us through their evil and draconian Federal REserve Bank!! Now they will do it politically as America will fall and become a State of World Fascism as the antichrist beast system will be in total world wide control !!
AND ONLY GOD AND JESUS AND THEIR HOLY ANGELS WILL DEFEAT THESE BEAST CHIPPPED MAKING BEAST WHO WILL KILL ANYBODY THAT DOESN’T COMPLY TO THEIR ANTICHRIST SYSTEM OF WORLD ENSLAVEMENTS!!

I must say that the tax system in the US must be very diffirent to most countriries if people can choose NOT to pay it! The only ones I know of are the self-employed, and they are NOT the average. It’s taken out of the wages here in Britland and the rest of europe. Taken out at source–and that’s GOOD! I have NOTHING against taxes, if they go to the Health Service, education, transport, Welfare and senior citizens pensions and free prescriptions for all not working, and so on. They’re a civilised way to collect money for the welfare of the citizen. The problem is, in Capitalist and greedy countries people’s money goes to fund wars, and keep the rich. This puts some people against taxes–but it’s the misuse of the people’s money that’s to blame! Why hasn’t a rich country like America got what civilised countries, even relatively poor ones have–a decent free, health service? Instead, many seem to think it’s better to give their money to Fat-Cat Insurance companys, most with no real cover for people unlucky enough to have a very serious, or recurrent illness–and they STILL have to pay their taxes–so they’re paying twice and making dodgy, greedy, fat Insurance firms very, very, rich! And the numbers given by the Yankee regime ADMIT that there are at least 60 Million without ANY cover AT ALL in the US! This is untenable. All because Yanks won’t come to terms with the whole tax thing. Your health is EVERYTHING, don’t leave it in the hands of Insurance crooks and valtures, who will steal your money and let you die, if you can’t pay up! Also the Regime you live under, is clapping their hands in delight. All that money coming in–and you STILL pay Insurance thieves? WHY? Demand the fruits of your hard-earned dosh! Here in Britland we’re desperate to save our precious NHS. Everyone cares and, quite rightly. I’ve just realised this post is on the WRONG page–whooops, sorry!!
December 16th, 2008 at 9:28 am
there’s only two classes in greece: bankers and shepherds. this has been true for decades.
December 16th, 2008 at 9:43 am
hey people lets just pick a day to call our employers and have them stop withholding your fed income tax. then just dont apply for a return. they cant arrest everyone just for that.
December 16th, 2008 at 11:03 am
I hope the EU breaks apart like the Soviet Union did. People need homelands, they need a healthy sense of national patriotism. The idea of herding people into artificial “Unions” which are usually nothing but dictatorial conglomerates is inherently communist and must be fought at all cost.
December 16th, 2008 at 11:46 am
As Bush would say…
This is good!!!
This means that Democracy is working in Greece.
December 16th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Its coming here next. Be proactive and try to imagine what you will need to handle this. Its about control folks. You need to get ready today, buy food guns and ammo. Dont let your families get caught in the cold on this.

Where’s the courage in the U.S? Here we have Greeks revolting against their government because a teenager was shot by despotic cops and they are overthrowing the government. And the cops haven’t even been to trial yet! Its not as if they were exonerated and public outrage ensued. the cops are being held pending trial. When malevolent police officers take an innocent life here nothing happens. Just another day at the office. COps take an innocent life, go in front of their fellow masons who are posing as independent minded judges, and go home free. Just ask Sean Bell in New York. And how do Americans react? By purchasing more I-pods! The greeks see that the GLOBALISTS have cut off their trade in the world and have revolted. They understand that being part a hodge podge of 20 plus nations with a common currency they can’t control has resulted in DE-Inustrialization. Europe doens’t make anything. The greeks know a comepletely service economy is a curse because you are DEPENDENT on others for your essential supplies and capital leaves YOUR COUNTRY. THey have revolted. WHeres our revolution? Hasn’t NAFTA and the NAU done the same in our country? Havent we witnesses unprecedented industrial disarmament over the past 15 years? We used to make products in this nation! We use to have a manufacturing industry. We made sneakers in the northeast and textiles in the SOUth. NOw our money goes abroad. We once made our tv’s, radios, chinaware, handbags, etc. Now the CHINESE do. The japanese are destroying Detroit as I type. Wheres our revolution? Isnt our government insolvent? Have we not witnessed congress after congress increase our debt burden? Wheres the coup de tat?
December 16th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
Just students and yet molotovs and lasers. Americans have much more to offer. This kind of nonsense could come here too!

Glad you mentioned Sean Bell….that one sticks out as a major atrocity, but there are so much more.
I agree with #31, It is maddening to talk with people who just calmly put it to the back of their minds and convince themselves it doesn’t affect them. Fact is; It will and it does, even if they don’t want to admit it. WE are all slaves to their manipulations and all so afraid of losing our jobs….that barely pay enough for food and shelter. But to be without. Oh my God!
So it’s just keep doing the same thing until they take everything from you and you still have more responsibilities and won’t say enough!
The Big Bad G makes bad decisions all the time and don’t listen to us, Corporate makes their money off of us, but treat us like shit.. Remember when the saying was the customer is always right. Well they killed that and now it’s you pay, it breaks, you buy the next piece of shit down the line. And go in debt for it!!!
Wake up people….this is on purpose and it won’t stop until we are either dead or fight for what we were told America was.
December 16th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
The Greeks should print and circulate their own debt-free currency
and stop using the debt backed Euro. That is the way to rebel.

What are you talking about #37? Ed and Elaine Brown got set up by traitors and are being held by traitors.

No American Revolt because the American Spirit of the Revolution has been programmed out of the American sycophant. The need to worship their alter egos the RICH. This is their dope. It simply will not change no matter how bad it gets. It will never change. Zombies are always zombies and Americans are Zombies. Lets just see what happens in 2009 or will they slow it down so the Zombies may catch their breath?

This action by the Greek GVT and the EU and whoever is behind this “big plan” is intentional and the outcome was known before it was ever initiated.
It is like a big “human experiment” where the “scientists” add the catalysrt to see the reaction of the elements. They stand back and watch the experiment and document the outcome and refine the process as they continue to experiment even more.
This action is Greece is a repeat of history many times over. It has happened since time began when people are not only deprived of their natural means to live as they see fit, but worse they are controlled so as to deprive them with rule of GVTs that do not care past their own agenda.
I pray to God that those behind such experiments on humanity suffer the worst helll that can be suffered..and do so for an infinite eternity.

In america it really is blind leading the stupid off a cliff. To many fucking lemmings here. I mean look at the last election voting for the president like it was american idol. Then they wonder why things never seem to get better but they don’t want to get off there fat asses and do anything about it either. Well at least its far and few between. A few friends and I have been doing weekly meetings to see what we can do about all this. So far we have a small group of about 8 of us. At this point we are all about spreading infomation with people that seem to only get info from corporate american broadcasting. I had a guy the other day blame the warming of mars *back when it was still heating up* on mars rovers. So here in america it is a uphill battle against really ignorance.
