Hardin jail operators detail plans for training facility, expansion

At a Saturday morning press conference, Becky Shay, APF’s new public-relations director, said the company hopes to build a 30,000-square-foot military-style training facility northeast of the jail and a 75,000-square-foot dormitory for the trainees to the southeast, all on a 50-acre plot of land.
She said the buildings would be paid for by APF’s “business activities,” including security and training, weapons and equipment sales, surveillance and investigations, and are projected to cost $17 million to build and $6 million to equip. There is also room to expand the jail, if needed.

I just got off the phone with Ron Adams the mayor of Hardin since 1994.He told me the
town has not been invaded APF s only employee at this time is Becky Shay the spokesperson for APF .The det facilty is uninhabited and will be till bond holders get
to vote on this.The big Horn County sherrifs dept has the police protection contract with the town of Hardin till the end of June 2010.Hireing any Hardin Police will then be incremental First a police chief then 1 to two officers as needed.APf offered to help form and train th PD but were rebuffed on the offer .What else can I say.Do your own research and talk to the Hardin residents themselves.They want this crazy story to go away .

don’t have to, jakk but when I drove down center street this morning through the only stop light in town after getting off work, the place looked normal as usual. None of the wild things steve q is describing. The 3 black mercedes (not 12) were here last week across the street from Chevy dealership but I haven’t checked to see if they’re still around today. They took the “Hardin Police” stickers off pretty quick after people started asking questions. Definitely not pulling people over.
But I’m probably an op, huh? What I don’t get is how in such a small town as fast as gossip travels, how’d steve q find out all his info before me?? Man he has some good contacts.

UPDATE 4U -
It’s official from “American Police Force” and the White House. NO Gitmo detainees or ANY OTHER foreign terror suspects will be held at the facility.
Also, there is no “homeless shelter” or “animal shelter” or any other similar use being made of the facility. That’s official. The company says that was just a ‘wish list’ from some of the Hardin people. It is ignored along with requests to provide the identity of the owners of the company.
The area WILL be used for “special” police & military training. No info was given when asked regarding AFP’s qualifications for this, or what that was, nor was any info given on just WHO might be housed at the new jail.
However, some jobs will be made available to locals. (woo hoo)

Originally when the prison was built a couple years ago here, the plan was to house state prisoners and possibly some feds too, similar to a prison built in Shelby – northern MT a few years earlier. The state basically led the city on to thinking that they would help them get contracts and everything would be fine. The prison gets built and state suddenly says hey, we didn’t make you any promises, and there isn’t a need for more prison space – you’re out of luck. Yes, it was stupid of the city to walk into that without having written guarantees, but this is exactly how it played out in the Shelby prison and they got it filled up. This is a 450 bed prison, same size roughly as Shelby. So…city sued the state, it was a big mess with a lot of things being said back and forth and the city actually won the lawsuit which was to have the ability to take in out of state inmates and feds. Problem was, they still couldn’t find any contracts and since then we’ve just been sitting here looking stupid with an empty prison. The bonds that paid for it went into default and the city officials have been feverishly trying anything possibly to get it filled so they can start making payments. Earlier this spring we were on national – even international news when someone here got the bright idea that if Obama is gonna close Gitmo, he should send them here, why not – we have an empty prison, everyone’s happy. Problem is this is only a low-medium security prison, and we don’t really have a federal court system available here that could handle those caseloads. It’s been such a mess these last few years, and then suddenly now we have this pop out of the blue with APF and they say they’ve been watching us for 10 months and we have a contract about to be signed. It’s been a wild ride to say the least. I drive by the empty prison on way to work every day or so.

The economic development agency behind the private jail in Hardin has put its executive director on leave but claims the move will not interfere with a controversial contract given to a private security company.
The group also said it is still moving ahead quickly with the California company to operate the facility – even though neither group has contracts in place for prisoners, or promises it can get any.
Al Peterson, board member of the Two Rivers Authority, said executive Greg Smith was placed on leave last Friday. But he said that does not have any bearing on plans to lease the facility to a security company named American Police Force.
Peterson, board vice president, declined to comment on whether Smith will return to work.

“All I can say is that Greg has been put on paid administrative leave, so no decision has been made,” Peterson said.
Smith was placed on leave just days after the economic development agency announced the 10-year contract that could fill the $27 million, 464-bed jail, which has sat empty since 2007.
Peterson said things are moving quickly with American Police Force. He said the company will be in Hardin starting next week to start building its training facility, which Peterson expects will be running this fall.
Peterson said there are no contracts in place for prisoners.
He said American Police Force will now be in the role of seeking state federal or local contracts for prisoners. He also noted, contrary to rumors, the contract only allows low- or medium-risk prisoners from the United States. The board retains final approval on prisoner contracts, Peterson said.
“The American Police Force is going to look for contracts for us for prisoners. They are saying they are going to have some in by January,” Peterson said.
The new spokesman for the authority says the jail operation is running very low on money. The contract turns over ongoing operational issues on the jail over to American Police Force.
The private security company, also tightlipped about the deal, does not show up in existing government contract databases. Security industry representatives and federal officials said they have never heard of it.
Peterson said the firm was gong to use the jail grounds to develop a training center. Retired police officers and former military personnel would be retrained for “international work.”
“These people will be able to go out and assist with everything from airline security around the world, to cruise ship security, and other things. They will be even going to foreign governments and telling them how to help set up their military,” Peterson said. “This is the real deal. When we break some ground and people can see something going on, they will begin to understand what is happening here.”

By calling themselves a “police force” when they are NOT a “police force”, they are impersonating a government agency.
Just callingthemselves American Police Force is committing FRAUD, and a federal felony crime!
Someone ought to drag their asses into court and at least force a name change, if not land the owner/operators in jail for fraud, and impersonating police officers under color of law.

I have watched this site without very many comments for a month, non-stop I must add.

This I have no doubt! The problem is, when you research many of the topics you will find half truths and fabricated information. Does info-wars not realize that most of us know where to find the truth; do they think we are going to wait on their last word to be the truth?
I have been here for awhile and I am telling you, Alex is purposely stepping up the controversy to rake his cash in fast. He also is aware time is running out. Yet, what has he really done to uncover the truth. Yes, he has made vid’s.. But guys, with the money he has taken in, he could have put his message on the TV several times over. And, if not TV, certainly we could have formed a real march on DC. He doesn’t want this to stop as long as he is making dough. He loves to stir the pot; this is all I’m saying. And when you speak the truth against his articles you get deleted.
Now I know that you will have your comments to make in reply to mine. But, go do your own research first. Pick any topic and you will find some misleading information. And every time I post the truth, it never shows up. I highly doubt this comment will be seen, but who knows, Infowars might find it has great controversy in it?
Bottom line, prepare with food for at least a month, get rid of your debt and buy nothing but the supplies you will need.

I have read all of the comments and to be truthful if truth is what we’re seeking some of you need to step back a bit. Your filthy language and barely coherent rants serve the Republic no purpose. I challenge all of us to be civil in our posts and our arguments. This is not a my race against your race battle or my intelligence against you intelligence battle. This cause is for freedom and if we truly believe in our beloved Republic and our personal freedom is worth fighting for then we should be ever vigilant in the fight. We owe our founding fathers, those who have fought and lost their lives and for our families to be bold but wise in our efforts to promote the freedom we all truly cherish. I am not scolding but encouraging the timid and the brazen to tame our rants but light the fire of the infowar so that the war isn’t lost before it starts but that decency, honesty and true patriotism wins. I have listened to AJ for 10 years and he does get fired up on occasion, well yes a lot, but anyone who believes so strongly that the enemy must be exposed gets a little hot when one thinks about the mindless and senseless acts of tyranny that are being propagated against us every second of every day. I am a patriot and have felt for years what can I do? I am doing all I can to let people know what is coming. We must support Alex in his efforts and not tear down this great effort to fight the good fight. Interesting that if a sheriff’s dept. is removed, the *law* in in the hands, in this case, of a known criminal. Also interesting is the fact that *decals* not mag-tags were fixed to the vehicles needing only a clear coat to fix them permanently.
