Hate Crime Bill Is A Trojan Horse Against Free Speech

The U.S. Senate has passed the homosexual hate-crimes bill and will now send it to President Obama to sign it into law. This bill is a trojan horse to legitimize the creation of more laws that will completely obliterate the 1st amendment of the United States.

Many homosexual organizations say this is a victory, however they are just being used to further infringe on Americans rights to free speech.
In a 68-29 vote, senators passed 2010 National Defense Authorization Act, which includes the hate crimes measure that adds “sexual orientation” and “gender identity,” as well as disability, to the current categories — such as race, religion and gender — protected from hate crimes. The House of Representatives voted 281-146 on Oct. 8 for the same defense legislation, which was used as a vehicle for the hate-crimes measure though it is not directly related to the controversial provision. President Obama has said he would sign the bill.
Any “hate crimes” bill is a disaster for the 1st amendment and leads into the direction of a nanny government… we are all grown-ups, correct? When someone puts you down whether it’s about race, gender, sexual orientation do we really want the federal government and the police to get involved in such petty affairs? And shouldn’t the police and the government be investing their time on more serious situations? Any ‘hate crimes’ bill is just a step towards the end of the 1st amendment and stepping into the direction of a nanny government, handing out fines and putting people in prison for hate speech.
I’m not implying that gay rights aren’t a good thing, I think anyone of any sexual orientation, gender, etc. should have a right to marry, but this hate crimes bill is nothing more than a foot-in-the-door for other tyrannical regulations that will criminalize any type of speech.

This bill could lead to an age of “Pre-Crime” and “Preventative Detentions“, if say the FBI suspects you of potentially committing a hate crime you can be prosecuted and detained even if no crime was even committed. It can also lead to cyber-bullying laws which could mean an expensive fine or prison-time for internet bullying, this bill can also lead to ‘political hate laws’ where any dissent against the government or its policies could make you a political prisoner.
The White House is already planning to create an “enemies list” where any dissent against its policies can land many into a permanent White House database. The U.S. Government and Homeland Security have established its hatred for dissidents in this country, they have established that anti-New World Order groups, Alternative Media Outlets (like this one) are potential violent terrorist tools. Anything about the U.S. Constitution, any partisan activists or any civil disobedience of any kind is now considered potential violent extremism by Homeland Security.
The unclassified Homeland Security memo even says people who are concerned about loss of U.S. sovereignty, illegal immigration and gun-control who are genuinely upset about encroaching freedom may be considered a potential insurgents against the U.S. government! Even liberal environmental activism, anti-war activism is considered potential violent extremism.
When you think of the phrase “hate crimes” remember that hate speech is a form of free speech and protected by the 1st amendment of the Bill of Rights and Constitution. The whole point of free speech is to protect unpopular speech like hate speech. When Obama signs this hate crimes bill into law the government will officially turn free speech into a criminal act, and soon it will become a terrorist/extremist act if Homeland Security (aka: the American Gestapo) gets its way.

The real meaning of Sin: the term translated in (Hebrew: hhatta’th’) and in (Greek: ha’mar’ti’a) in both languages the verb forms (Heb. Hha’ta’ Gr. Har’mar’ta’no) meaning “to miss” in the sense of missing or not reaching a goal, way, mark or right point. It just starts there. This legislation stops all religions from preaching the word of God. Every major faith sees homosexuality as an abomination against God. Where were all the church, synagogue, mosque leaders, Buddists, Hindus? Why have we not heard them railing against this abridgment of their Constitutional right to practice their faith in the manor they see fit? As we have seen with hate crime legislation passed in various states, there is NO enforcement of “hate crime” laws when such crimes are inflicted on whites, especially white heterosexual men, and against Christians and Jews. The Senate cleared a historic hate crimes bill for President Obama’s signature Thursday, approving new federal penalties for attacks on gays and lesbians.
The legislation, which was attached to the conference report for the bill outlining the Pentagon’s budget, marks the culmination of a years-long fight by civil-rights groups to codify the expanded protections. The law broadens the current definition of federal hate crimes — which covers attacks motivated by race, color, religion or national origin — to include those based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. It would also create a new federal crime to cover attacks against U.S. military personnel because of their service.
The measure was approved, 68 to 29, with a majority of Republicans voting against it. The House passed the same bill Oct. 8, also with most Republicans opposed.
Gay rights groups praised the Senate’s action.
“We look forward to President Obama signing it into law: our nation’s first major piece of civil rights legislation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “Too many in our community have been devastated by hate violence. We now can begin the important steps to erasing hate in our country.”
Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), who helped ensure that the hate crimes measure was added to the defense bill, called the vote a necessary step forward. “I am proud that Congress has come together to show that violence against members of any group because of who they are will not be tolerated in this country,” he said.
The hate crimes measure is named for Matthew Shepard, a gay University of Wyoming student who was murdered in 1998, and James Byrd Jr., a black man who was dragged to death behind a pickup truck in Texas in 1998. Shepard’s family founded the Matthew Shepard Foundation, which helped lobby for the measure that is now set to become law. Offered repeatedly by the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), the bill had stalled previously in the Senate, and President George W. Bush vowed to veto it if it ever reached his desk.
But Obama plans to sign the measure, a key moment for a president who has been subject to grumbling from some gay and lesbian activists that he hasn’t so far pushed hard enough for their agenda. Obama has vowed to fight for gays and lesbians on other fronts, including repealing the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
Social conservatives argued that the hate crimes bill was in violation of the First Amendment, and a step toward a larger gay-rights agenda they strongly oppose.
“Expanding hate crimes puts America in lock step with the stated agenda of homosexual activists who will turn next to the so-called Employment Non-discrimination Act, followed by the repeal of the ban on homosexuality in the military and then the Defense of Marriage Act.,” the Family Research Council warned on its Web site.
Religious groups have also complained that the bill could criminalize the simple act of criticizing or preaching against homosexuality, but the bill’s backers and the Obama administration contend that is a misinterpretation of the law.
Separately, congressional Republicans objected to the process used to move the hate crimes bill, complaining that Democrats attached the hate crimes language to the defense authorization measure as a cynical ploy to dare the GOP to vote against it.
“It’s a shame that this piece of legislation was added to a bill that’s supposed to be about supporting our troops,” said Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.).
The Defense measure outlines a $680 billion budget for the Pentagon in fiscal 2010, including $130 billion for ongoing operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The bill authorizes a 3.4 percent pay raise for the military and also includes funding to continue promotion of a second engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. While many members of Congress support the alternate engine program — which creates jobs in several different states and districts — the Obama administration has called it a waste of money and threatened to veto the bill if funding for the program remained.
Despite that threat, Obama is now expected to sign the measure

at least the author isn’t singling this out as a “gay issue” as others would (like the collectivist Ted Pike), since many gays are against such restrictions on speach, as are many Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and anyone else who is supposedly protected under hate laws.

Something gone wrong here. Maybe we should think about using their language when we call up those that pass these bills. For instance we call up like we are gay and tell them to pass the bills so we can put all the christians in prison and execute them all.

What people need to realize is that no matter what new bills/laws they pass, if it is contradiction of the constitution then people do not need to obey them period. They can pass laws saying you can’t go outside after 10 o’clock but it does not mean people need to obey oppressive laws like that. The government does not grant you the liberties/freedom we hold dear, according to the constitution and our founders, our creator endows us with them. Simply by being alive we have these rights and no one can take them away, the only way you can loose them is if you give them up by listening and obeying oppressive laws. Just don’t be intimidated, stand up and stick up for yourself. That being said, there was absolutely no reason for this new bill. There are already existing laws that protect people from hate crimes and speech depending on the situation and depending how those laws are used and applied.

Wow this is the first, and probably will be the only time, that I can somewhat agree. There is no need for a Hate Crime Bill, for anyone. Lots of crimes are simply of opportunity, not directed because a person is a specific race, gender or sexual orientation.
Also, these kinds of bills elevate certain groups to a status that others do not have. If you are a straight white person (especially a male), somehow your being a victim of a crime is less serious.

This is the problem with this website, you have a bunch of ignorant people(by ignorant i mean uneducated in a specific area(s)) who are just as brainwashed as the rest of the American citizenry. I would venture to guess that most of the people commenting on this site have never actually read the constitution or ever taken a class on the American legal system. If anyone, including the author of this article, had read the constitution or sat in a law class at any point they would know that the 1st amendment has complete protection of political speech, but does not protect dangerous, violent, or defamatory speech. People who believe that freedom of speech truly means the right to say whatever you want whenever you want are mistaken. There are numerous limits on the things we can say and most of the limits on our speech are reasonable. For instance commercial speech is regulated in order to protect consumers and speech that incites violence is not protected for the obvious reason of protecting people and property from unruly mobs.

It does indeed protect “dangerous, violent, or defamatory speech”
Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969), was a United States Supreme Court case based on the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It held that government cannot punish inflammatory speech unless it is directed to inciting and likely to incite imminent lawless action. In particular, it overruled Ohio’s criminal syndicalism statute, because that statute broadly prohibited the mere advocacy of violence.

Back during the days when I went to a community college an evil man took over the school, and in a 3 year period got rid of 33 teachers. To combat his terror a blog was started about him. For the first time so many people had and outlet to express what this man had been doing. Through this blog he was in the end forced to retire. But if this were to be tried now it would be silened by the new anti hate speech laws.

hate crimes are stupid. If something is a crime it is a crime, no more laws needed, just enforce the one(s) already on the books. Now as a pagan, I’ve seen a pagan home just absolutely trashed – with pages of the Bible taped all over doors an suffer not a witch to live written on the front door. Police totally ignored it – didn’t even investgate for the crime of vandalism that was so clear. If that wasn’t a hate crime, what was? I want people to have free speech. That way I am better able to gage people that hate me. If I hear someone say hateful crap about some group that I happen to be part of, then I can avoid that person.

Hey i just wanted to say something about free speech.But also a wise word about words you speak.As God says over and over in the bible,he says that the tounge is like a steering mechanism,and that youre spoken words leads you where you speak.He also says that words you speak is very important and are very powerful,and even more powerful if you speak what he says.The science have tryed to see if this was a fact,so they put to glasses of pure water,and put them in and isolated place.The first glass was spoke good things over,the other was cursed and speaked negative over.The result of the test was that after some days,that glass that was spoken good over looked pure,and they drink it,the other glass looked so,untasty that they dident drink it.Does this proves that our words create,what we speak?Well i dont need proof,i know.
