Hersh: Cheney ‘Privately’ Says He Prefers U.S. — Not Israel — Strike Iran Because ‘We’ll Get Blamed Anyway’

Earlier this week, in an article called “Preparing the Battlefield,” the New Yorker’s Seymour Hersh reported that late last year, “Congress agreed to a request from President Bush to fund a major escalation of covert operations against Iran.” On MSNBC today, Andrea Mitchell asked Hersh if the U.S. was “planning military action” against Iran or “planning to support Israeli military action?”
“Oh, you know, how the hell do I know,” replied Hersh. “What I can tell you is we’re loaded for bear. And we’ve been looking at it for three years.” He then said that Vice President Dick Cheney “privately” is against an Israeli attack because the U.S. will “be blamed anyway”:
HERSH: If Israel goes — I’ll tell you what Cheney’s says privately, and whether or not you, how I know this is, — what he says privately is, “we can’t let Israel go because, first of all, they don’t have the firepower, we do. We have much more firepower. And secondly, if they go, we’ll be blamed anyway.”
Asked by Mitchell if that meant Cheney wanted the U.S. involved, Hersh replied, “there you go.” Watch it:
Though Hersh says Cheney only conveys this view “privately,” he has made a similar argument at least once before in public. On Jan. 20, 2005, Cheney went on the “Imus in the Morning” show and discussed another Hersh article about U.S. war posture towards Iran.

“Why don’t we make Israel do it?” asked Imus. “We don’t want a war in the Middle East, if we can avoid it,” replied Cheney. But, he said, “Israel might do it without being asked,” leaving the world to clean up “the diplomatic mess afterwards”:

CHENEY: Well, one of the concerns people have is that Israel might do it without being asked, that if, in fact, the Israelis became convinced the Iranians had significant nuclear capability, given the fact that Iran has a stated policy that their objective is the destruction of Israel, the Israelis might well decide to act first, and let the rest of the world worry about cleaning up the diplomatic mess afterwards.
Asked by Mitchell if it was “possible this would happen before the election,” Hersh said he didn’t think so, but that what he thinks “means nothing” because “this could happen tomorrow, the president could have a bad hair day and say, ‘to hell with it, let’s go.’”

Kinda funny….It wasn’t too long ago when these Iran articles would come out maybe once or twice a week. Now we are getting like 3 stories a day. The war drums are beating like a hip hop opera. The American people have no idea how fragile the situation is. They can’t think beyond how much partyin they can do this weekend.

we have got our troops on the ground in the country already,we NEVER attack unless we have at least had navy SEAL’s in there getting intel,and “preparing” the battle field,NOT to mention that we are occuping two countries that nieghbor iran,and to say that were not going to war with iran is VERY close minded,open your eyes!!!!!!

But the elite of this country are blood thristy and they need more. New fresh blood. N. Korea barely excaped, but they’ll go back to them later. How many other countries are in line for the blood-letting?

Belinda at 1, you are right and you’re probably aware of something else. We are going to stop them.
Just as the Jewish people are expert at infiltrating governments in foreign countries such as the USA, making polices that favour Israel with billions of dollars of aid from those foreign countries, making policies that favour war and bloodshed instigated by those foreign countries (eg. the US invasion of Iraq) and generally being masters of manipulation and deception, we are going to tie these traitors up in knots with the truth like a balloon being turned into a poodle at a party.
And it’s going to be a big party. Israel is on the back foot and the truth is emerging all around the world. They have overplayed their hand with their foolish threats against Iran.

I’m a bit slow. Now I understand. It’s like roaddog said at 8, Cheney is advocating for the USA to invade Iran so that any repercussion come back against the USA and not against Israel.
One thing is very obvious, Israel currently considers Iran to be a threat. The entire push for a strike against Iran is coming from Israel and from politicians in the USA whose allegiance is towards Israel and not the USA.
It’s like roaddog said at 8, instead of Israel striking Iran itself, it wants to get the USA to strike Iran and take the rap for it in terms of military retaliation from Iran. That military retaliation will, at a minimum, cost the lives of USA military personnel and potentially also cost the lives of USA citizens, depending on the range of Iran’s weapons.
So Israel has this problem. It doesn’t like Iran’s increasing military power in the region and it wants to curtail Iran’s military power with a military strike against it. But it doesn’t want to face the inevitable counter-strike from Iran in the form of missiles against Israel. So the US, many of whose politicians pledge allegiance to Israel and not to the US, steps in and says, “We’ll strike Iran and pay the price in terms of the lives of military personnel and potentially citizens also.”
This is dysfunctionality with a high price-tag.

The whole Israeli/ American relationship is absurd. Why we as the host nation go to such lengths to protect these parasites is crazy. Americans as a whole need to shut off their tvs and stop letting themselves be brainwashed by alien ideals. These Zionist have no concept of freedom or liberty, in fact they are on a mission to destroy them. Look at Protocols of Zionism, look at Marx’s Communist Manifesto and you will see my point. On one hand you have prominent Zionist advocating tolerance in the US and elseswhere, passing hate-crime legislation on a continual basis, while never even mentioning the crimes against humanity carried out against the Palestenians by their own kind, the Zionist. How come there is no mention of the 60 million Christians slaughtered in the USSR, starting in 1919, in The Simon Wisenthal Holocaust Museum. Hell, Speilberg made a movie about the holocaust. The History Channel pumps it on a daily basis. But the mere mention of the Christian Holocaust, carried out by Leon Trotsky (aka Lev Davidson Bronstein) leaves people with a puzzled look. How many top ranking Bolshevieks were Jewish? More than 70%, I assure you. But when it is goy cattle being slaughtered it is not even worthy of mention to these Talmudist. Armenian Genocide? How dare they use that term, genocide is a copyrighted word only applicable to Jews. Actually I can understand their point of view, why should they care about goy? What I can’t understand is the point of view of my countrymen, why should we goy care about them? Simple, we shouldn’t. On a personal level I have nothing against these people, but when they make laws that challenge my freedoms, lobby my government to get involved in wars that benefit them at my cost, and try to shape the minds of my countrymen to achieve their agenda, then by all means they ARE my enemy. People are so tricked into believing the historical persecutors are the persecuted, simply amazing.

When The Noahide Laws according to The Talmud come into play, you either denounce Jesus or get beheaded. Any profession of faith in Jesus is seen as blasphemy. If you deny Jesus you will be allowed the luxury of living out you life as a slave to the Talmudist, if they so desire. A great honor I might add. Jesus Christ, son of Miriam the Hairdressor/harlot, is in hell burning in excriment, according to the Talmud. Yet brainwashed Christians continue to support Orthodox Jews. The oral laws of The Talmud are held in higher esteem than The Torah, which are the first five books of The Old Testement, Genesis through Dueteronomy. Cheney must have the statistics to show what the consequences would be if he attacked Iran. To feel the way he does at this point in time, he and the rest of the clan are constantly reassured by America’s silence.
This lack of noise from the silent majority means they can do whatever the hell they want.
Without any thought of trouble blowing back at them from the American public, they can finish the job they were all hired and trained to do.
Then quietly move on into oblivion and wealthy obscurity.
With the prayers and words of the wealthy evangelical ministers, who, by the way, have also become wealthy by not talking about what’s happening around us , all singing “God bless America” in stretch limo’s.

if anything starts…. you know where we should head with our weapons. No, not Iran or whatever else they decide. It should be right at the doors of Cheney, Bush, Rockerfellas etc (including family and other close ties), Wipe them from the earth and let life go on.
