TENAHA, Texas— You can drive into this dusty fleck of a town near the Texas-Louisiana border if you’re African-American, but you might not be able to drive out of it—at least not with your car, your cash, your jewelry or other valuables.

More than 140 people reluctantly accepted that deal from June 2006 to June 2008, according to court records. Among them were a black grandmother from Akron, who surrendered $4,000 in cash after Tenaha police pulled her over, and an interracial couple from Houston, who gave up more than $6,000 after police threatened to seize their children and put them into foster care, the court documents show. Neither the grandmother nor the couple were charged with any crime.

Define good cop. All cops have agreed to uphold many laws that are just plain criminal and defy what America was founded upon.
The prisons are being filled with non-violent offenders that are put there for the profit of the corporations that own them. And the cops are arresting them.
I’m sure many cops have no idea who they’re working for. But that doesn’t change the fact that they’re conditioned to monitor your behavior and keep you faithful to the state. They don’t keep the peace anymore. Those days are long gone.

Then the Arlington cops who tasered my friend to lose grip and fall off a bridge to his death that made national news for a week in 2003.
I do know we have some good police officers, but there unfortunately are some that give them a bad name.

This whole idea of local governments [or the federal govt.] seizing private property without benefit of a trial is purely for [pay attention here] REVENUE ENHANCEMENT! The script goes like this; 1. You’re pulled over for anything/nothing. 2. You “arouse suspecion” somehow, 3. You’re searched, 4. The cops suddenly declare your money to be “Drug Money” [easy to do because ALL paper currency in circulation will test positive for drugs, thats right ALL paper money], 5. Cops aeize your cash, car, luggage and possibly your home, all without charging you with any crime. 7. Now to get your property back you must sue the cops/county/city that seized your stuff and PROVE YOUR NOT GUILTY. The EXACT OPPOSITE of what our legal standard is. AND, seeing as how you’re not charged with a crime you need to prove that your stuff did NOT come from illegal means. Quite a challange being that your cash is tainted with cocane!

I feel you brother. There’s no doubt that minorities (blacks, immigrants, women, LGBT’s) have dealt with the burden of oppression in the US. But we shouldn’t hate whites for it.
It was Tom Watson, a former populist from the 1890’s who said “We are made to hate each other because upon that hate rests the arch of the keystone of financial despotism that enslaves you both”.
So this is what the ruling class does. They deliberately stoke acrimony within the working class by playing the most subtle characteristics against each other in order to subjugate the entire exploited and oppressed masses of people. All of a sudden, blacks are inferior. All of a sudden gay sexuality is immoral. And women are inferior, immigrants are lazy nobodies just trying to steal your job, etc.
In reality all of our interests would be advanced if we all just got together and overthrew this horrible profit system. Hating each other is only going to further split us apart so that the capitalists can once again have their way with us. We have to be smarter this time not to fall for this. This economic crisis and the subsequent new political period provides the best opportunity for all of us to get together and really mobilize in the hundreds of thousands so that one day this economic system upon which things like racism, sexism, xenophobia are predicated on can one day be abolished. Then, there will be no material basis for hate in any form. First we have to get rid of the conditions that create hate in the first place.

Yes, this is true. I personally don’t hate anyone as a person. I don’t have neither the right nor the authority. I hate the behaviors and methodologies of some people including myself. I am certainly not excluded from this either.

The moment the cop threatened to kidnap the children unless the parents gave up their property and signed the form, they had the right to shoot him. Yes, it would have caused some significant legal problems. But they would have prevailed.

All workers revolutions in the past consisted of the winning of large armed sections (the military) of society to the revolution. If were talking about a popular uprising against the government, then most sections of the working class be it workers, students, and soldiers would fight against the gov’t. The soldiers would have not only the know how of fighting because of all of the past ruling class imperialist wars that they’ve fought in, but they’d also be able to confiscate a large amount of weapons for the revolution, making the institution of pro gun laws unnecessary and dangerous.

Don’t travel alone, don’t ride alone if possible.
If in more than one car… and you should… drive a quarter mile apart, or at least just within visibility. If you or the other car is pulled over, have a speed dial on your cell or CB. Also, alert what was used in the 80’s and 90’s-a phone tree. Call one person who had the responsibility of alerting everyone else with you.

I can’t believe some of these comments, blaming whites, blaming blacks; it’s no ones fault in this article but the stupid policemen or policewomen that did this! I hope they get a looong sentence, police or not, no one should ever do this kinda stuff to people.
The reason they specified that the victims were black was becuase they prob wanted to warn you who the main targets/victims were for the crimes.
I wish scum like these corrupt cops will go to jail and just think about what they did for the rest of their lives. No one’s lives were in danger, but imagine if the people refused? What would the cop do then? I’ve seen and heard too many cops like these, and it never ends good for the victim.
Watch out, and stay alert around cop cars. Remember, you can go to the nearest police office by law if your driving when you stop.

Alex has me confused with someone. I only said his name 2 times on a radio show (prior to 3-2) and both times I was defending him. He hung up on me and proceeded to call me “two-faced” and say I have “issues”. I didn’t call his show “THIRTY TIMES”, more like FIVE. Never said I “HATE” Alex. Jones seems to have a hard time with criticism. CALL ALEX and ask him why I am “BANNED” from calling his show.

Crooked cops should be sentenced with double penalties of that of a citizen. If you assault a policeman the sentence is greater than assaulting your neighbor- thus if a cop is crooked he should be sented double the charge
A crime with a gun is 5 yrs in jail- seems to me this officer had a gun drawn or not, but clearly visible- thus he should serve 10 yrs for every incident
