U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano’s visit today to El Paso is just one of five stops she will make at universities in the coming months, officials said.
She began her national tour with a state of Homeland Security speech in Washington, D.C., last week. In El Paso, she will speak at 10 a.m. in the Magoffin Auditorium at the University of Texas at El Paso.
Her topic is security along the Southwest border.
“The message she is bringing is that border security continues to be a priority for the federal government,” said U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes. “There is more to be done, but look at how far we’ve come since 9/11.”
