House Bill Proposes Commission to Explore National Servitude

Back in November, after sweeping the election, Obama’s crew removed language from his official website calling for mandatory service for all Americans. “Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year,” the site said before the document was scrubbed in response to criticism.

Obama and the Democrats are wedded to the idea of mandatory service. In December 2007, Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd proposed making community service mandatory for all high school students and proposed “encouraging service by adults by offering tax credits to employers who give workers paid time off to volunteer and $1,000 grants for seniors who help out in schools,” MSNBC reported.
In 2006, Rahm Emanuel, now Obama’s chief of staff, published a book entitled “The Plan.” In the book Emanuel argues for universal service for all “Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five [who] will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service.”
Democrats love the idea of involuntary servitude. “For America now, service is not just an option, but an obligation of citizenship,” said John Kerry during the 2004 election. In the 110th congress Charles Rangel introduced the Universal National Service Act H.R.393, a bill that would have required all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service for a period of two years.
National service is feel-good code for slavery. It is prohibited by the 13th amendment.
In March, both the House and Senate passed a bill tripling the AmeriCorps program. Called the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, or GIVE Act, the law “encourages” Americans to “give back to their communities,” Fox News reported. Republicans attempted to attach an amendment to the bill prohibiting for-profit political and labor groups that engage in legislative advocacy from receiving “assistance” under the plan, but the amendment was tabled.
We need your service, right now,” Obama declared as he signed the bill. “I’m asking you to stand up and play your part. I’m asking you to help change history’s course… and if you do, I promise you, your life will be richer.”

Obama and Congress will eventually do more than merely ask “you to stand up and play your part” — they will legislate it. In March, H.R. 1444 was introduced in the House by a gaggle of Democrats. The bill will “establish the Congressional Commission on Civic Service to study methods of improving and promoting volunteerism and national service, and for other purposes.”
H.R. 1444 is sponsored by Rep. Jim McDermott, a Washington state Democrat, and is assigned to the House Committee on Labor and Education. It reintroduces language calling for universal servitude stripped from H.R. 1388, the so-called GIVE (to government) bill.
In Section 4. of the proposed bill, entitled “Duties,” we find the following: “The effect on the Nation, on those who serve, and on the families of those who serve, if all individuals in the United States were expected to perform national service or were required to perform a certain amount of national service.” (Emphasis added.) A “workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement” is proposed “for all able young people.”
In addition, the Commission will investigate how to rope older Americans into a national servitude program. “Whether current Federal volunteer programs are suited to address the special skills and needs of senior volunteers, and if not, how these programs can be improved such that the Federal government can effectively promote service among the ‘baby boomer’ generation,” the bill states.
The Commission will also explore the creation of a “public service academy, a 4-year institution that offers a federally funded undergraduate education with a focus on training future public sector leaders.” Federal money would go to establish “a training program on college campuses to recruit and educate college students for national service.”
As Obama said during his GIVE signing speech, he wants to create “a generation of activists” to work with “nonprofit organizations” — that is to say, foundation NGOs — to “strengthen the Nation” as determined by the government and the corporations and bankers that own it.

Back to the article…I don’t think the people can take much more of this. It’s as if they (government) are TRYING to start a civil war. Required service is nothing more than slavery. Those of you who despise Lincoln should be thanking him now for the 13th amendment. Although, with the Supreme Court ruling that the military draft is not involuntary servitude, the lawyers and judges may just ignore the constitution like they always do.

Ive been warning people about this bill for awhile now, I even had one old timer call me paranoid and say our government would never do that. This is the one they were approving during the AIG bonus circus in the media- of course without anyone knowing unless they researched it. I say NO WAY IN HELL. Does this mean they’re going to find something worse for a community service punishment? This is like sentencing everyone to a DUI punishment without the DUI. At some point this is going to inspire more crime. Take for instance the spouse who constantly accuses their mate of cheating. Often times the accused comes to the conclusion that if they’ve done the time they may as well do the crime…. and once you’ve punched the tar baby you’re trapped for good since “criminals” will have no rights anyway.

Second time posting this.
When I signed up for Unemployment Benefits last week, before I could start, there was a page that I had to read before I could. It stated that if I was between the ages of 18 and 24, I had to sign up for the “Young Hoosiers Conservation Corp”, seeing that I am over that age limit, I bypassed it, but did take a picture of it before I moved on to finish signing up.
This I believe goes in line with the Stimulus Bills and H.R. 1388 that were recently passed.

Take a look at the comments section and i need say no more. The last thing you want at this stage is a unified front, it gives your enemy only one target to go after. Having it spread out as it is in smaller groups and individuals, is the way to go. So long as we are all aware of who the enemy is, and his tactics, we have a shot at him.
We are not sheep, we don’t need a leader to lead us, that is programming that we have been conditioned to believe. We are each our own leader. Act as sovereign individuals aware of your situation and who the enemy is, and push as individuals against the enemy wherever and however you can.

I disagree. Small and scattered groups are easily dispensed. Anyone who has parented successfully knows that presenting a united front keeps a child from playing one against the other. I wrote both of my senators, Bill “The Human Fence Post” Nelson and Mel “Lapdog of W” Martinez opposed to this bill. I explained that this bill was unconstitutional because it violated the 13th Amendment to force labor upon any citizen not found guilty of a felony. I also asked them to write back about what the punishment would be for not participating in this program. I got no response and they voted for the bill anyway. So we already lost!

MANDATORY VOLUNTEERING IS NOT OXYMORONIC, MORONS! You can choose how you spend your 100 hours volunteering (apart from a few hours of military training). If you can’t find anything better to do there’s always more military action which will instill a sense of national pride discipline & obedience, traits kids of today are obviously lacking…It will be a useful distraction to acedemic studies & supervised by adults – adullts who are not teachers or parents, this will give kids more confidence around a wider variety of adults. The (cub)scouts have been bringing kids up this way for decades and no 1 complains. Bob’a'Job week etc…What’s wrong with the state providing the same service and ensuring kids attend. It will help keep children off the street and away from drugs & alcohol. Too many ppl have spent money they didn’t have – it’s only right their children help contribute to the rescue of America by President Obama. THINK ABOUT IT!

I tried to join AmeriCorps last year. They didn’t want me even after I did all of their paperwork and got all of the necessary references and recommendations. I know my background check was fine; I’ve had to pass several background checks for other jobs. It made me wonder what kind of people do get these volunteer jobs. I agree about the advertising and sensational fearmongering sales tactics but that’s business. Mina, your idea is great in principle, but reality bites. This would work in a society where there were no parasites, if everyone – and I mean EVERYONE – did their fair share. There will always be, for lack of a better word, pimps, to take advantage of something good and twist it to their own use and advancement.
As far as the voluntary part, I see so much of that going on in the faith-based organizations. That is where it works best. A neighboring church is going on a mission trip to inner-city Baltimore to paint schoolrooms and do other benevolent work. As a young adult, I also went to Baltimore and did VBS for kids with puppet shows, crafts and other things, including helping clean and remodel a church building. Much appreciated. Around this area they have the season of caring, and another outreach that ministers to the elderly, disabled or poor, people who have trouble cutting their grass, painting their houses. Students volunteer to tutor.
I’m giving my time to pack shoeboxes for needy children. A friend is teaching English as a second language, volunteer.
There is already much being done without having to make it “mandatory”. But there are also a lot of people who would benefit from giving. It would be good for people to stop being so self-focused and help those who have it worse. All those useless hours spent in front of the propaganda machine. On video games, etc. I realize that what people do with their time is their own business up to the point it affects their families, and to tell them they have to volunteer is ludicrous. It has to come from the heart.
I wonder what Obama’s cronies would do if we said “sorry, we’re already doing our community service.”?

I need time off work to do my voluntary service. I need to get paid for that time. I have a disability which will limit where I can serve. I need special access accommodation to get into the volunteer facility. I am a minority, I need affirmative action preference in volunteer assignments. My religion forbids working on certain holidays. I need convenient public transportation to get to the assignment as I will not burn fuel due to global warming. If anyone tries to sexually harass me at the assignment, I will file an EEOC complaint and sue. The assignment needs to be age-appropriate as I am a senior American. Thank you.

I relished the idea of fighting and killing for America. Even death in my uniform seemed acceptable. Not anymore! Meeting people with like minds and living with them and preparing is what the show is all about, we can all do this whereever we are, the idea is to have such clusters all over the map. I talked to people all the time at my job as a cashier and I handed out dvds, I’m sure I turned on a lot of people to the infowars site and I met alot of already awake and like-minded people. It would be nice to live with some but I am instead stuck with my braind dead asleep zombified relatives. Perhaps a website where Jones fans could share info and choose people to co-habitate with in their home towns?

Back in the early days of our once great country, if people couldn’t pay their taxes they worked on civil projects like building bridges, roads, courts, etc. for 2 weeks. Now the govt wants us to pay taxes and work for free! Methinks that Barry Soetoro is still seeing Larry Sinclair on a frequent basis because one has to be cracked out to think that Americans will follow this assinine bill! When the govt tells me to work or pay taxes, only then will I think this is a viable bill.

I have been experienced a CNA/HHA for 15 years:
Speaking of Nazis and slave labor, this governor has cut my clients disability pay, and is attempting a $2.00 per hour cut in my pay of which I use largely to support my client already.
It took us caregivers many years to climb out of min. wage. The state already determines client hours and rarely ever allows for protective supervision and never 24 hour pay. At the same time we are told that we are responsible for our clients. If I leave to work another job, our clients could be in great danger.
We save the state allot, even with living wages. I suppose that this may be a form of mandatory volunteerism, or it least it feels like it.

Sounds alot like the Cuban youth labor camps that Castro loves so much, or the forced labor Sundays in which you HAVE to dedicate your Sunday to cleaning up the streets if you do not show up your local labor steward reports you to the Government. At the age of 14 Children are taken from their parents into agricultural labor camps for an entire year. Sounds familiar does it not, but that would never happen in the U.S.A would it? Naaaaaaa.

The real truth will continue to elude those who latch too quickly on to cherished fallacies. Let’s face it: if any of these men had the real truth, they wouldn’t point to the solutions they do. It’s honorable to dig into the reasons for the crises we’re in, but at some point, they become blind guides and false prophets if they lead the many to hope in solutions which are doomed to fail.
