If Ron Paul’s foreign policy positions are out of the Twilight Zone, why does Paul get the most support from the U.S. military?

John Huntsman’s futile effort to steal Ron Paul’s voters has manifested itself in the form of a badly produced ad which characterizes Ron Paul’s beliefs, most notably his foreign policy stance, as being out of the Twilight Zone – a strange claim to make given the fact that Paul enjoys the most support from the U.S. military out of all the Republican candidates combined.
The ad tries to denigrate Paul for voicing the fact that preemptively attacking foreign countries incites terrorists. It also questions his assertion that Hamas was in part created by Israel, which is nothing less than a historical fact.
In addition, the ad tries to characterize Ron Paul’s assertion that there is a “new world order” and that members of the CFR and Trilateral Commission often go on to occupy influential positions of power as crazy conspiracy theories.
In reality, as World Net Daily documents, every single presidential run-off since 1960 has included one if not two candidates who were members of the CFR, the Trilateral Commission, or both organizations. The “new world order,” or in other words the move towards global governance, has visibly manifested itself over the last several decades and has been referenced and promoted on countless occasions by the likes of George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
The ad also attempts to trash Paul’s view that the Skull and Bones secret society has any influence, despite the fact that 2004′s presidential race saw two Bonesmen, in John Kerry and George W. Bush, run against each other.
Savaging Ron Paul’s views on foreign policy may play well with neo-cons, but it certainly doesn’t with U.S. military service members, who support Ron Paul over all the other Republican candidates put together.
Ron Paul has has received more money in donations from active duty military personnel than all of the other Republican candidates combined and more than Barack Obama himself.
“Paul’s military-connected contributions for the three months more than double such contributions to all the other Republican presidential candidates—and they also exceed Obama’s,” confirms Politifact.
In the three months from April through June, Paul received “more than $25,000 from individuals who listed their employer as a branch of the military” (the campaign itself puts the figure closer to $35,000).
So if Paul’s views on how the U.S. military should be used throughout the world are so off-base, as the Huntsman ad implies, why are his foreign policy positions backed by the very people tasked with fulfilling that role?
The ad is so tacky and crass, that even former Huntsman supporters are now switching to vote for Ron Paul as a result.
“This childish video, coupled with the unnecessary and nasty ad attacking Paul on the newsletters is really bad,” wrote one You Tube user. “You offer no reasons or opinions. All you did was use twilight zone music, ‘scary’ graphics, etc. to portray another candidate. I’ve lost all respect for you, and you lost my vote. I’m leaning strong towards Paul.”
The whole notion of a lower tier candidate attacking Ron Paul in a desperate bid to lure aware his voters was a harebrained idea from the outset. Every single poll conducted in Iowa shows that Ron Paul has the most loyal and least likely to waver supporters.
Indeed, even after weeks of relentless smears and attacks by the establishment media and RINO Republicans, Paul still heads into this week’s primary virtually guaranteed a top two finish, if not outright victory.
