Hurricane Ike’s battering of Houston has led to a week-long curfew being imposed on the Texan city.
The measure, which will run from dawn until dusk, was ordered by the authorities to deter looters and help prevent accidents on roads strewn with broken glass, fallen trees and live power lines.
America’s fourth largest city is also suffering from power cuts, with three-quarters of its population without power.
Rescuers said they had saved nearly 2,000 people from waterlogged streets and shattered houses along the coast of Texas.
Many had ignored evacuation orders and tried to ride out the storm.
“I have nowhere to go,” said Ldyyan Jonjocque, 61, as she waited waiting for a bus with her four Australian shepherd dogs. She wept as she told of officers rescuing her in a dump truck.

I’m sure there are just hundreds of pesky looters swarming the city. Yeah right. What a joke! Just an excuse to tell the cattle while training them to obey.
September 15th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
My folks live in the Champions Forest suburb north of Houston, and they said that they heard from their neighbor, who is a judge, that the cops have orders to shoot looters on site. I don’t know if this is true, but I wouldn’t doubt it.

Ike Coverage: Galveston biolab researching killer viruses reportedly secured before hurricane hit
The Galveston area of Texas that took a direct hit from Hurricane Ike is home to a top-level biodefense laboratory that studies highly contagious and deadly diseases including bird flu, but lab officials are assuring the public that the pathogens were secured before the storm made landfall.
The Robert E. Shope Laboratory is located in the Keiller Building on the sprawling University of Texas Medical Branch campus in Galveston. The basement of the Keiller Building flooded during the storm, but UTMB reports there was no loss of biocontainment or biosecurity. All labs were decontaminated and secured prior to the storm, with all infectious agents stored in proper containers, according to UTMB.
However, UTMB’s statement contradicts claims by state and federal officials that the lab’s pathogens were destroyed before Ike hit. For example, Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s spokesperson told CNN that the lab’s pathogens were purposely destroyed before the staff evacuated the facility. Officials with the Department of Homeland Security also told the network dangerous materials were destroyed.
CNN reported on questions about the pathogen destruction claims raised by an unnamed former UTMB student who worked at the lab. She said she would be surprised if all of the pathogens had been destroyed, since some of them are rare and very valuable — though she did note that the lab was designed to withstand hurricanes:
“I know that everyone at that facility, every single person at that facility, I’m certain has done everything they could possibly do to ensure that the community and the facility is absolutely safe, because all the people that work there, their livelihood and careers are dependent on the things that are held in that lab, and they would be destroyed — just as much as the community would be destroyed — if anything were to happen,” she said.
But there have been security problems at the Shope lab before. In January of this year, for example, the lab was temporarily shut down after an internal security door failed twice. The door was in a lab holding mice that had been exposed to the deadly and highly contagious bird flu virus.
UTMB at Galveston is also the site of Galveston National Labs, a new top-level biosecurity facility. That lab, where construction is just wrapping up, suffered no readily apparent damage in the storm, according to UTMB.
Some observers question the wisdom of building top-level biolabs on a barrier island vulnerable to severe tropical storms and intense flooding. There are also questions about the cost to the public due to facility damage and canceled experiments.

In this revolution against tyrrany- We Are Up Against Impossible odds!! Criminals are stacking the deck against us. The Government, as we all know, are opportunists with Helegelian principals. People Can easily misconstrue our endeaver to loosen the noose around our necks- Be it the NWO gallows Pole. We need not less but more guns in the hands of every law abiding citizen, let us see what happens with the crime rate then. I wait patiently in quiet fury… At the ready, to take up arms join my fellow brothers on the battle field and win our republic back. Men & Women let us stand together strong w/t resolve of our fore fathers. This approach is obviously the last resort – in all reallity it seems the only way. Thank You to all who are so passionate in informing the people of the truth

Perhaps this is not the right place to post this blurb, but since it’s the latest one on Infowars at this time, I’ll say my piece. I disagree with Bob Chapman and others who say when the revolution goes to the streets – a small percentage of the 450 million weapons in the U.S. will bring us to victory. Horse Hockey. Get real. I agree with Alan Watt that resistance is the key, not violence. If our backs are up against the wall and we come out fighting, we’re going to get trampled. It’s that simple. We might not be outnumbered, but we’re definitely outgunned. Resistance and spreading the word is our only hope.

You are quite correct in your assertion John…quite correct indeed.
However it’s not the type of talk the “rednecks” want to hear. You see the “rednecks” are able to hide behind their “guns we have lots of guns and when the time comes look out”, it’s been their “cowardly” excuse to avoid getting off their arse and doing something these past seven years. I believe the term for them now is “yellownecks”…lazy, cowardly f---ers!!!
Land of the brave my arse…hundreds of thousands of innocent men women and children maimed and murdered throughout the world since 911, erosion of freedoms, checkpoints, curfews, police brutality etc, etc, and what have the “brave” American citizens been doing to stop it…”NOTHING, NIL, ZIP”

if the airforce 2025 would’t made the hurricane so big it wouldn’t been such a tragity.
this and all the storms have been planned to put the nano particals in of the water (seemed like 25% here in fl an as low as the ponds were) that was depleted the last year ans a half. (LOOK AT WHERE EACH STORM HIT AND TRAVELED(an last year all approached the eastern seaboard then went back out to see). AND THERE WERE FOUR STORMS lined up, LIKE ONE WEATHERMAN DESCRIBED IT LIKE PLANES ON A RUNNWAY.
DON’T BELIVE IT GO TO:

Please clarify what the non-cowards are supposed to be doing.
Sure, I call things as I see them. Most people don’t.
But…
Pacifists are talking about verbally shaming the remorseless.
Terrorists are talking physically shaming the remorseless, by way of martyring themselves.
Those are two choices:
Talk to the complaint box, or kill yourself.
Which one of those sounded constructive to you?

Are you people actually saying that Houston’s curfew is wrong?? When Katrina hit, crime went up in Houston %300 as the New Orleans refugees fled to Houston. Thats why they are doing this, so they won’t have crime go sky high again. You people are so emotional and vacant of rational thought, you blind yourselves into believing something way off beat. Its thoughts and rants like these that make ya’ll look like complete fools to everyone, thus ruining your credibility. And you wonder why people won’t take you seriously.
Go ahead call me a neo-con or part of the NWO. I know you want to, because you are that pathetic and small-minded.

September 15th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
I went from Austin to Missouri City (Ft. Bend County near Sugarland) to be with my old dad for the storm. There was a dusk til dawn curfew there too, and it seemed like many of the suburbs had curfews. I am not sure how you are supposed to know about a curfew when the power’s out and you don’t have radio, tv, internet, newspaper, etc. We got power early Sunday afternoon. There was no traffic…evacuating towards the hurricane is the way to go.
The scary thing about the storm was the concept of the millions of people being unable to take care of themselves when things are not provided to them. The gas stations had no power = no gas; the traffic lights were out = lots of stop and wait and go traffic. There was the ironic combination of having lots of downed tree branches and no electricity – people couldn’t cook with so much wood around. I wish I owned a mulch company.

September 15th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Ok,
Here is my update: I was in clear lake for the hurricane and two days after. The storm was very powerful, but it did not cause the damage as you remember Katrina did 3 years ago. From what I saw before I left to college station on saturday evening was many residents getting together to clear debris and look in on neighbors. BBQ pits were going and residents were congregating in the streets and talking and waitin on news from portable radios. Several people heard reports of looting yet it was all hearsay as I did not talk to one person who witnessed any of it firsthand. As far as the curfews I did not see police enforcing any of that where I was. I saw zero police state B.S.
September 15th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
that is one example of why i calld this hurricane Hurricane Policestate
because that is what its going to be a police state

15, well I am not calling you a neo con, because I have worked EMS,and there are times that cerfews are needed to keep that certain population from looting. In Phuilly during the blizard of 93 we had problems, but the cerfew kept many where they should be at home, not out stealing, and people or some will do that.
sorry folks but during some incidents, you need to have security, and there is a perventage of our population that will loot. so if you are taking stuff for survival well I am for it, but shoot the f---ers taking plasma TV’s
This storm caused some trouble, but it was not as bad as Katrina, but at times we need security, but then again I was a paramedic, so therfore I agreed with it because it kept me safer on the job.
September 15th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Look, you can stop all the speculation about there being a curfew, my family has lived in and around Galveston for almost 140 years and it’s normal that they establish a curfew to keep people from stealing from homes and taking that which may be strewn about or easily taken from open walls etc. The real test of what the government overstepping as of now is if they don’t let the people back in the area to secure their property soon. I have family still on the island and they are fine and so is the home, but they have reported other family members and many friends have water damage. We need to get in there and begin clean-up now. And to know for certain if the causeway is sound, it’s been over 48hrs. we have all the sood, water gas and necessary supplies to clean up and begin to rebuild. We don’t need anything beyond access while they start to restore electricity and the rest, it’s our homes -not Chertoff’s or Bush’s or any of the brown shirts homeland it’s our island and we are BOI

Because in the event of a pathogen or virus running rampant in our country, they will quarantine entire regions of the country, up to and including, culling livestock, scorched earth policies in infection zones, and shooting people trying to escape a quarantine area. Why someone would build a level four bio-lab on a fault line or in a hurricane or tornado proned area, must be an over confident prick. That’s like building a salt factory next to a slug farm. Nothing good can come out of it.

The Elite with purify their water, eat organic meats and vegetables, marry into other Elite families (inbreed!), hide underground when the s--- hits the fan. The normal people of the earth will prevail! We are not scared of disasters, food, water, aliens, bigfoot, jihad, terrorist(BUSH)! We can look death in the eye and say “Is that all you got!” I see death comming at me everyday in traffic, so what! It will take us all! This is a warning to all the Elite with bad intentions! We are the future of this world so get used to it!
September 16th, 2008 at 1:09 am
Agreed #29, I’m not afraid of these pricks and I’ll be damned if they’re going to force me to a curfew. These are our streets and our land.
And I also agree with #21s mentality. We don’t need these pricks coming in and telling us what to do and how to do it. All in the sake of shackling us with more taxes. We will rise up as communities and help our fellow neighbors in times of turmoil. We don’t need to be mobilized like cattle to detention centers so the police state can come in and control everything.
September 16th, 2008 at 1:54 am
I am from houston and I agree with the curfew. For one around 2 million people left their homes, i have always stayed during hurricanes or tropical storms and i can say first had that entire nieghborhoods are empty at times, and scum will take advantage of that. And 2, after the storms when the power is out with no a/c in 80-90 degree temps with 100% humidity peoples only option is to pile the family in the car and go sight seeing and look and gawk at all the damage which leads to traffic and impeding emergency crews clearing debris and rescues and no one has real reason to be out at night damn near everything is shut down. Thank God for the front that came through earlier today that dropped temps almost to 60 which was a big relief for people. The curfew does help but also preventing people from entering galveston is creating a problem, you can’t get to family to help clean up and those that stayed during the storm are told they can leave but not come back which causes a dilema for some people that want to stay and start clearing and reparing their property but have no supplies to do so or any way to bring supplies in.

Hey Filthy Cowards. Did you ever hear of “Duty is ours, consequences are God’s”? If it is in His will to allow us to be destroyed due to our own laziness and selfishness, then so be it. But it is not for us to sit back and let it happen without trying to stand in the gap. In the end, you will be judged by what you stood for and what you stood against.

“Filthy Cowards,” the Bible never said that God will certainly save us all.
It does say that a heathen government is a punishment over an evil nation, and that a Christian should labor as though expecting the imminent return of Christ.
The apologetics say the purpose of life is to know God and to make God known. Had our country known God, how would these nominally Christian politicians be recieved?
The passivists say to verbally abuse the sadistic powers that be. How do you propose to convince people, who in their heart of hearts, don’t know right from wrong? Don’t you know the perps feel morally jusitified and still pass the smell test with most people?
The terrorists beat their chests like Scrappy-do, threatening to martyr himself upside a bear. By what moral authority do they pledge the lives of others? When your individual pride is hurt, you threaten to destroy yourself and take the world with you.
The world’s governments are full of two kinds of people I chastise above. Hopeless romantics and hypocrites, is this dialectic your own?!

September 16th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Soon they’ll be violated their 3rd amendment rights, like with Katrina in New Orleans.
September 16th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
I live in the small town of Yellow Springs Ohio. Our power has been out for a few days now from the heavy winds. We now have a 9 o’clock curfew. Anyone out after this is going to be arrested. Anyone else see something wrong with this? They say its 2008 but it still feels like 1984 around here.
September 17th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Hey everybody out there, I live in Tomball, Tx. In my neighborhood here, we have a 9:00 curfew and I have no idea the amount of fine….regardless, Tomball is only a few miles north of Houston and we were about 15 miles away from the eye of the storm. Myself and a couple other neighbors just got power today…and thankfully water. The FEMA pods around us have been empty when anyone tries to go, after waiting in line for literally 2 hours. It’s wrecked down here, bad,…but we only had one death in the neighborhood-which was very painful, a tree fell on a family’s trailer down the whole length of the trailer and happened to fall on a young woman who was sleeping at the time. Her mother was in bed with her but got knocked out of the bed during impact, without a scratch. The young woman was evacuating from Houston and came here, unfortunate. PEACE BE WITH.
In our neighborhood on Sunday night, I was visiting a friend to see how their house was, about 7:30pm I was wading back home through the water thigh high on our street, and I saw a sheriff going down the next road,…well I happened to have a fairly “illegal” bowie knife strapped to my shoulder because earlier this day I had already killed two copperheads. So I cross the water only to find another sheriff parked down my road…and mind you, we have had no idea whats going on-on the outside. To dodge the sheriff, I had to go through the woods to get home. So when i got home, about an hour later,…another cop drove up because he saw our lantern on the porch and he told us we “were not allowed to be outside”….Cummon Officer—Peace be with all of you out there.
September 17th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
I’m in Katy, Texas, just to the west of Houston.
Several days before the storm hit, I captured some pictures of 8 Army AH64 Apache helicopters flying around our area. Coincidence or not? These choppers are not used for saving people, but rather killing them. Why would anyone in their right mind order attack helicopters in lieu of Black Hawks?
Earlier today when the FEMA spokes person was giving answers to the press (KRIV Fox – Local channel 26) was covering the event. A reporter asked him a question about the curfew which was barely audible. He stuttered for a while and said “I can’t answer that right now”. Another reporter spoke up and provoked him with questions about punishments for breaking curfew laws and all of a sudden the live feed was cut. Coincidence or not?
There are more police out than I have ever seen in my life, and I’m being told that they are not being allowed to go home; they must sleep in the station between shifts. Luckily, though, I havn’t heard of any breaches of posse comitatus and the NG is sticking to “recovery”.
To all my fellow Houstonians: remember your rights, remember your humanity, and help your neighbor.
September 17th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
I live in Houston, just got my electricity back today. I hardly consider the curfew as being related to a police state. I’ve been out till midnight ever since the curfew was instilled and have passed tons of cops. It’s just a scare tactic to keep majority of the people off the roads to avoid things like people running into fallen tree’s on dark roads at night.
