REYKJAVIK, Iceland: Thousands of Icelanders marked the 90th anniversary of their nation’s sovereignty with angry protest Monday, and several hundred stormed the central bank to demand the ouster of bankers they blame for the country’s spectacular economic meltdown.

Tiny Iceland has seen its banks and currency collapse in just a few weeks while prices and unemployment soar — leaving a country regarded as a model of Scandinavian prosperity in a state of shock.
“The government played roulette and the whole nation has lost,” writer Einar Mar Gudmundsson told a noisy but peaceful anti-government rally of several thousand people in downtown Reykjavik.
After the rally, hundreds of protesters stormed the headquarters of Sedlabanki, Iceland’s central bank, demanding the sacking of its chief, David Oddsson.
The demonstrators staged an hour-long standoff with shield-wielding riot police inside the bank’s lobby, singing songs and chanting “Out with David” and “Power to the People.” The protest ended peacefully when both police and demonstrators agreed to withdraw.
Anti-government protests have been growing larger and angrier since Iceland’s three main banks collapsed in October under the weight of huge debts amassed during years of rapid economic growth.
Since then the value of the country’s currency, the krona, has plummeted. Icelanders who grew used to buying houses and cars with easily available foreign-currency loans now struggle to repay them. The cost of everyday goods is skyrocketing — furniture retailer Ikea hiked its prices by 25 percent

It did not accomplish the end goal, but if you watch, these people are working their way up to a true storming of the bank and ouster of the crooks. The protests are getting more “in your face” as time goes on. Give them a few more months of hyperinflation and then you will see them actually storm the bank…..
I have to give them credit….they are awake and see the cause of their trouble and are working up the courage to handle their situation.

In Thailand they’ve taken over the government’s house (Prime Minister’s office) for 4 months now. They have also seized the international airports in Bangkok and took out all the police check points the government was trying to use to cut the protesters off from reinforcements an supplies.
The government was forced to scurry up North and hide amongst the welfare state they created to get to power – unfortunately people that depend on welfare to survive are also usually too ignorant, lazy, apathetic, and disorganized to fight on the government’s behalf unless paid copious amounts of money and lead by the hand through every obstacle.
So the government is on the brink of total collapse – the only thing keeping them in power is the fact that I truly believe the ex-prime minister Thaksin, a Carlyle member has been getting covert support from the west to “integrate” Thailand into the global system.
The Thai Chamber of Commerce is trying to get everyone to stop paying taxes – an even better idea than protesting – because it literally takes the wind out of the government’s sails. How are they going to pay counter-protesters, the police, or the army? Its going to have to start coming out of their own pockets.
The government is being hacked to pieces – its ugly – and the government is fighting back with terror bombings against protesters, shootings, and assassinations of key media and political opponents – but on the protesters’ behalf – they have resorted to very little actual violence.

Note the police and the people both exhibited restarint. One incident to one person on either side of the line could have blown this situation out of hand.
I would not expect such restarint in the US and probably the first strike would be initiated by the police and lied about in the report.

According to CSNBC as of Nov 28 the Federal Reserve and treasury together have “loaned’ 7.36 trillion dollars. According to the census Bureau there are 105 million households in the US. That means that $70,500 has been given away in your name to the Banksters. I’m not an economist, politician, banker, or accountant, but I’m willing to bet that if $70500 were deposited into the 105 million household accounts in the country we would end the foreclosures, unemployment, and hunger that are growing daily. It’s really funny how most people think the current world economic crisis is about money. It’s not. It’s about the peak of production of OIL or Peak Oil.
Production peaked in 2008 at about 85 million barrels a day. It will decrease anywhere from 5 to 9% per year unless other sources are brought online. That means the World will be lacking 20 million barrels of oil a day production in five years time.

those numbers are staggering- one thing that I have learned about recently is the simple of idea of ’signature monetization’ which is what these banksters have been doing in this country since the end of the gold standard..
what this basically implies is that you sign the contract, and literally, ‘poof’ the money appears- out of thin air. It’s a complete sham- they don’t have to work to create the money, but you have to break your back to repay it because you couldn’t make enough money to pay for the shit you had to borrow to buy in the first place.
The system is designed to keep you down- plain and simple. The camels back however is increasingly more weighted. If we experience an Iceland type scenario I would hope American’s would snap to it—I feel motivated to change things, but there seems to be a catalyst somewhere on the near horizon.
People that stay informed will be ready. More and more wake up every day.

“Rise of the double standard” foretold in Atlas Shrugged
If you have never read Atlas Shrugged (1957) by Ayn Rand, you should. In one passage, a stereotypically “liberal” New York journalist named Bertram Scudder was overheard by South American copper magnate Francisco d’Aconia stating to a girl during a social event, “Don’t let him disturb you. You know, money is the root of all evil – and he’s the typical product of money.”
Rand gave d’Aconia some very excellent lines here to describe “money.” Aside from being, at least from an “individualist” point of view, a concise and brilliant overview of what money, people, good and evil really are, Rand used d’Aconia to foreshadow exactly what is happening today. Ironically, one of Rand’s philosophical devotees was Alan Greenspan—the man who set in motion the exact circumstances described below.
“…Then you will see the rise of the double standard—the men who live by force, yet count on those who live by trade to create the value of their looted money—the men who are the hitchhikers of virtue. In a moral society, these are the criminals, and the statutes are written to protect you against them. What’s happening there in Iceland is just a precursor to what is going to inevitably take place here in the U.S. Many people heavily invested in the stock market have already lost half their investments. I hear the talking heads on mainstream media telling us that we’re all dumb to this crisis. I have to laugh at their belief of how gullible they think we are. They say, until we soon go to use an ATM machine that’s shut down from the source, they’re telling us we simply just don’t get it. Everybody who posts a comment on this site (except the ones that say it’s all going to be OK) know in their gut what’s coming down the near future road. It’s not overpopulation which leads to depleted resources on Earth. It’s simply greedy wasteful consumption of all things mankind consumes. It scares me to realise that so many of the folks that are actually informed seem to be folks that seem to be electronic game playing warriors that could not even carry a rifle or shotgun all day long,dig a fighting hole, and would be looking for mommy if they stomped a toe. Good intentions are just that and nothing more. An army has got to have training, organization, and mental and physical toughness. Well it’s a tragedy, no doubt about it.
But people have to use some common sense.
Throughout the years from 2000 to late 2007 we were
called by banks and mortgage companies EVERY DAY.
The bankers and realtors on the phone huckstering their
“cheap home equity loans” were incredulous that we’ve
never had a mortgage, (we bought the lot and built the
house ourselves for cash), and couldn’t believe we had
no desire to put our home “in hock” to some crooks
at a bank.
So, now while our neighbors who borrowed thousands
to have swimming pools, BMWs, power boats and
RVs sitting in their driveway are being foreclosed on.
Meantime here we sit in the same old shack we built
ourselves back in ‘47 with our old cars, our fruit trees and
vegetable garden… ALL DEBT-FREE. We’re no smarter
than average. It’s just that most people get stars in
their eyes, like the poor Icelanders.

I hear ya #103. I don’t have any hard solutions to offer. All I can say is prepare what you are able to while still being able to live in their paper money system. I don’t see a big collapse coming because they could loose control then. I see a gradual decline while at the same time a gradual increase in totalitarianism. There is no coming together #103. The price keeps going up until some demand is destroyed. Then it goes down temporarily until some of the destroyed demand comes back online. Get it? It’s a downward, seesaw spiral. We are now in the trough of the first downward price swing. As time marches on (like try two years time if that), the price will go to $200 a barrel, and then the next trough will ensue, only it’ll be higher than $45-50 a barrel.

That theory is quite absurd…..As well, how many people are on the Earth, how much land mass does the Earth support, given that land mass and the amount of it that will sustain human life: how much does each human need? Secondly, I am completely aware that oil is abiotic. Don’t know why you assume otherwise.
There may be a lot of oil on the planet, but we are depleting existing wells faster than they’re refilling. Also, much of the Earth’s oil lies offshore. This is expensive to extract. What’s more, it takes between 5 to 9 years to erect appropriate hardware to bring it to production.
Fact is, oil production is now dropping 5 – 9% per annum. This will not cease over the next 5 years to be sure. In short, it is too late to reverse this trend and maintain infinite population growth.
Even if energy was not cause for concern, the World’s large population is unwieldy. In the end, it is wiser to have a smaller number, say one or two billion max. This can be achieve by restricting people to one or two children, depending on individual country fundamentals. In the case of nations like India and China, people should have an option to be paid to be sterilised.
And if you still don’t think over-population is that bad, just look at your precious United States of America. Imagine how much nicer it would be if there were only 150 million Americans. Let’s put that in perspective. Look at LA today. Now imagine an LA with just 5 million, well educated and to do people. How much nicer would that be? The same could be said of New York, Chicago and DC.
Infinite growth is unsustainable. Moreover, it forces successive generations to have less and less; just look at India. Like it or not, oil has a role in this. Furthermore, the economy and banking are tied to oil.
In short, the current world-wide financial crisis is indeed tied to oil and population. We can no longer sustain infinite growth. That is why TPTB planned the existing banking crisis over ten years ago. Yes, sir, it was planned.

There are alot of protests going on in Iceland these days. This one is on the 8th of november in front of the icelandic parliment.
One of the protestors climbed to the roof of the building and changed the national flag for a flag of the Bonus supermarket stores(icelandic wall-mart). The protester got arrested. Sometime later a crowd gathered in front of the police station were he was kept and demanded his release. His bail was paid anonymously.

Hi im a American and i salute the civilians of Iceland on what they are doing. I wish we the Americans would do the same thing but not everyone has the influence,money,etc. to do anything for example me,im only 1 person how can 1 person accomplish anything? My grammar and intelligence isnt the greatest so my researching etc takes alot longer.
I do want to believe Alex and his cause,but how do i as a person with a mind know he isnt some crack pot? i mean most of the news sites i see on this site i never heard of,well except CNN,CBS,and FOX. how do i know this guys isn’t a plant by our government testing us to see what happens? How do i know all of this stuff is true and not some person lieing to us or setting us up?
Before i commit anything to this man’s cause i want proof,real (not copy) documents,i want to know in secret his so called sources so i can verify if there a nut or a legit person(s). i dont want to go against a government or a country that i have been living in for the past 35 years with out some sort of insurance or proof.
