If elected, John McCain, according to Wired, will snoop on Americans, same as Bush and the neocons, under the illegal and unconstitutional rubric of so-called executive power. “Senator John McCain would reserve the right to run his own warrantless wiretapping program against Americans, based on the theory that the president’s wartime powers trump federal criminal statutes and court oversight, according to a statement released by his campaign Monday,” writes Ryan Singel. In other words, the neocons behind McCain will trump the Constitution.

McCain adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin, speaking for the campaign, “disavowed” earlier statements made by McCain indicating he “wanted stricter rules on how the nation’s telecoms work with U.S. spy agencies.” On the neocon NRO website, Kathryn Jean Lopez includes a letter Holtz-Eakin sent to Andy McCarthy late last month. “We do not know what lies ahead in our nation’s fight against radical Islamic extremists, but John McCain will do everything he can to protect Americans from such threats, including asking the telecoms for appropriate assistance to collect intelligence against foreign threats to the United States as authorized by Article II of the Constitution,” wrote McCain’s adviser.

As we know and the government admits, so-called “radical Islamic extremists” do not pose a threat to the country (see Fusion Centers Face “Insufficient” Terrorist Activity). On the other hand, other “extremists” do pose a threat, for instance antiwar, 9/11 truth activists, and what the neocons derogatorily call “Paulnuts,” a growing number of people calling for a return to a constitutionally limited republic. As the Huckster declared recently, Libertarianism — that is to say, philosophies which uphold the principles of individual liberty and minimize the role of the state — are a threat to the neocon effort to turn the United States into a dictatorship.

Of course, it does not matter if McCain, Obama, or increasingly remote, Clinton become president — the global elite’s scientific dictatorship will continue its ascent uninterrupted.
