IMF warns of Great Depression

LONDON (AFP) — Britain edged ever closer to a recession on Tuesday and the IMF’s top economist warned of a second Great Depression, as stock markets awaited fresh US growth data in the hope of some Christmas cheer.
Britain’s economy shrank by 0.6 percent in the three months to September compared with the previous quarter, against a previous estimate of 0.5-percent contraction given last month, the Office for National Statistics said.
The IMF’s top economist, Olivier Blanchard, meanwhile said governments around the world should boost domestic demand in order to avoid a Great Depression similar to the downturn that shook the world in the 1930s.

“Consumer and business confidence indexes have never fallen so far since they began. The coming months will be very bad,” Blanchard said in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde.
“It is imperative to stifle this loss of confidence, to restart household consumption, if we want to prevent this recession developing into a Great Depression,” he added.

The IMF should be glad when there is no money. Then they will not have any worries anymore. After all.. They only benefit from those who exchange labor for money. They take no risks … the IMF only takes..period. They are nothing but a parasite who thinks they should control money. People can do that on their own.

#5 Did you ever consider that you are using our ethics? The golden rule is inherant in all cultures and predates Christianity. Just because we say don’t steal, don’t kill, do to others as you would have done to you, etc. doesn’t imply we are using values stolen from theists. These values are common to all civilized societies. Yes evil exists, and so does goodness. But it is not supernatural; it’s natural to humanity. We atheists know that religion like the idea of God himself was made up to answer mysteries and control society. Don’t imagine you have a patent on decency. Good and bad is in us all.

Freeman2020 – good suggestion. The IMF has tipped their hat. They always do, just like Stiglitz did back in 2001. When the IMF, the World Bank, the top banksters etc. say “something” will happen, it is good bet that down road – sooner or later – a major depression, riots, troops in the streets will come about.

This goes out to the Theists:
I ask, can you separate atheists and their morals from everyone else? Do ALL Christians have the same wonderful set of morals, presumably from the Bible? Can you prove this is true? Can you show any evidence that every single Christian has the same set of morals from the Bible making them better people than atheists? And if you did not want to imply that ALL Christians have the same set of wonderful morals, somehow better ones than atheists, then why make inept statements.
Common sense would show that different atheists have different ideas of morality just as different theists have different ideas of morality. Every christian i’ve known has a different idea of what is morally right or wrong, so don’t make vague assumptions/statements.
The fact is that all humans have basic morals that have nothing to do with their personal god delusions, or their mass religious delusions at all. An atheist typically does not believe that any god is real, but still has that same basic set of morals. If you can show some sort of proof, or evidence of any kind that shows a distinction between atheists and ANY other group of people with regards to basic human morals – have at it.
I think we are all well aware that you hold a basic belief that an atheist is somehow inferior to a Christian. I’m sure Jesus holds you in very high regard with all of your love and tolerance for your fellow humans.
To summarize:
Morality has to do with how we behave towards others in our community, and as such, the opinion of the community at large has a direct bearing on what is considered acceptable behaviour. Unlike scientific facts or physical, logical or mathematical truths, morality is a democracy.
I would further add that it’s not exactly smart to accuse someone of falling foul of a logical fallacy when the same reasoning can be applied to the theistic concept of morality, which is essentially an argumentum ad verecundiam (appeal to authority). The theistic argument for an absolute morality is further hampered by the fact that theists can’t seem to agree on what that absolute morality actually is; the net result is that this so-called “absolute morality” appears indistinguishable from moral relativism in any practical sense … enough with this “end of the world” delusional god talk/spewing.

Do you know what ‘the quiet before the storm’ sounds like? Listen hard and you can hear it. The stock market has just been bobbing along since the first big wave hit, the holidays have come, the elections have placed an alledged power change in the near future, and everything is more or less hit a period of stasis in the middle of free fall. The news on all economic indicators have, across the board, gotten worse, yet no big sell-off wave, they are dancing as fast as they can. After the new year, all hell is going to break loose again and you can bet we will see them implement the plan to create total chaos in which they can pull out all the stops and make war on the American people. They can’t stop the fall and they can’t control the truth, so they are going to try to eradicate the relevance of everything by creating terrorist attacks so they start the lock down of the nation. These morons can’t control anything, but they are going to ct like it and declare martial law afterwards setting off the conflagration.

I ve posted a couple messages where I am upset with Ron Paul saying that the government was “absoulutely not” involved in 9/11 and that he does not support 9/11 truth.

Who cares if Ron Paul thinks it was an inside job? 9/11 is not the litmus test, the Constitution and principles of liberty are and he passes with flying colors unlike a lot of pro “9/11 truth” people that have bad visions of the role of government.
Ron Paul voted against the unconstitutional measures undertaken in the wake of 9/11, and was aware of how it would be used to destroy liberty and the Constitution. That’s all that matters to me.

There is no more use in discussing the latest lies of the architects of chaos than there is to discuss a burning building while we are still in it. There will be no “peaceable” redress of the many wrongs comitted against us by our government, and I doubt the majority of citizens are aware of their obligation in these matters anyway. The fact that most of us here do understand will mean very little unless action eventually backs up words. But what country are we preserving from destruction if our countrymen are already foreign to us in their words and deeds? We are not preserving a nation but an idea, one which just happened to take root here 231 years ago. When Congress and Boomberg filed for transparency of the Federal Reserve and where the bail out money is going through the Freedom Of Information Act, the Federal Reserve responded by telling us that they have no accountability or obligation for providing transparency to the United States Of America, because they are an off shore bank that prints, loans and establishes the value of currency to many other countries. That is, the Federal Reserve is not a US institution and is not obligated in any way to US laws or the Freedom Of Information Act, because they are essentially by the terms of their contract with the US a foreign entity, the same as China from who we borrow billions of dollars.
Does anyone believe that China, or the Soviet Union for that matter, would be obligated to a Freedom Of Information Act directive, which only pulls weight in America?

You ought to read up on the terms of agreement the US has with China, the former Soviet Union and the Federal Reserve, all three of which are on equal terms with the US in terms of having to provide transparency and accountability.
This is EXACTLY WHY the Federal Reserve Act is illegal and unconstitutional and is illegitimate by default, according to our Constitution. But, because the Fed named it the Federal Reserve when we signed the contract, everyone thinks it’s the Federal Government and IT’S NOT AND NEVER WAS. I am just a man that loves his country and sadly I must now start preparing to defend this land I care so much about; not from some invading Foreign force but my very own ELECTED GOVERNMENT. This is a fight NONE of us should want but to all that have taken the Oath, REMEMBER this!!

Hey, no plan no progress?
The thing is we cannot do much about it. There could be two scenarios:
1-we get so desperate that we get our asses in the streets and ask for the gov to step down like it happened in Eastern Europe and then change happens (good and bad) but that will not happen in the US because as bad as it is, people still live better than those in the ex-communist countries and the tolerance level for accepting s--- against fear goes a long way.
2-we boycot corrupt corporations just like the governer from Illinois did right before he got in s--- (I wonder why) ans that will accelerate this crisis and eventually the gov. will have to listen to the people.
