These are the words of Manfred Nowak, the UN official appointed by the Commission on Human Rights to examine cases of torture. Nowak has concluded that President Obama is legally obligated to prosecute former President George W. Bush and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

If President Obama’s bankster economic team finishes off what remains of the US economy, Obama, to deflect the public’s attention from his own failures and Americans’ growing hardships, might fulfill his responsibility to prosecute Bush and Rumsfeld. But for now the interesting question is why did the US military succumb to illegal orders?
In the December 2008 issue of CounterPunch, Alexander Cockburn, in his report on an inglorious chapter in the history of the Harvard Law School, provides the answer. Two brothers, Jonathan and David Lubell, both Harvard law students, were politically active against the Korean War. It was the McCarthy era, and the brothers were subpoenaed. They refused to cooperate on the grounds that the subpoena was a violation of the First Amendment.
Harvard Law School immediately began pressuring the students to cooperate with Congress. The other students ostracized them. Pressures from the Dean and faculty turned into threats. Although the Lubells graduated magna cum laude, they were kept off the Harvard Law Review. Their scholarships were terminated. A majority of the Harvard Law faculty voted for their expulsion (expulsion required a two-thirds vote).
Why did Harvard Law School betray two honor students who stood up for the US Constitution? Cockburn concludes that the Harvard law faculty sacrificed constitutional principle in order not to jeopardize their own self-advancement by displeasing the government (and no doubt donors).
We see such acts of personal cowardice every day. Recently we had the case of Jewish scholar and Israel critic Norman Finkelstein, whose tenure was blocked by the cowardly president of DePaul University, a man afraid to stand up for his own faculty against the Israel Lobby, which successfully imposed on a Catholic university the principle that no critic of Israel can gain academic tenure.
The same calculation of self-interest causes American journalists to serve as shills for Israeli and US government propaganda and the US Congress to endorse Israeli war crimes that the rest of the world condemns.
When US military officers saw that torture was a policy coming down from the top, they knew that doing the right thing would cost them their careers. They trimmed their sails. One who did not was Major General Antonio Taguba. Instead of covering up the Abu Ghraib prison torture scandal, General Taguba wrote an honest report that terminated his career.

Despite legislation that protects whistleblowers, it is always the whistleblower, not the wrongdoer, who suffers. When it finally became public that the Bush regime was committing felonies under US law by using the NSA to spy on Americans, the Justice (sic) Department went after the whistleblower. Nothing was done about the felonies.
Yet Bush and the Justice (sic) Department continued to assert that “we are a nation of law.”
The Bush regime was a lawless regime. This makes it difficult for the Obama regime to be a lawful one. A torture inquiry would lead naturally into a war crimes inquiry. General Taguba said that the Bush regime committed war crimes. President Obama was a war criminal by his third day in office when he ordered illegal cross-border drone attacks on Pakistan that murdered 20 people, including 3 children. The bombing and strafing of homes and villages in Afghanistan by US forces and America’s NATO puppets are also war crimes. Obama cannot enforce the law, because he himself has already violated it.
For decades the US government has taken the position that Israel’s territorial expansion is not constrained by any international law. The US government is complicit in Israel’s war crimes in Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank.
The entire world knows that Israel is guilty of war crimes and that the US government made the crimes possible by providing the weapons and diplomatic support. What Israel and the US did in Lebanon and Gaza is no different from crimes for which Nazis were tried at Nuremberg. Israel understands this, and the Israeli government is currently preparing its defense, which will be led by Israeli Justice (sic) Minister Daniel Friedman. UN war crimes official Richard Falk has compared Israel’s massacre of Gazans to the Nazi starvation and massacre of Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto. Amnesty International and the Red Cross have demanded Israel be held accountable for war crimes. Even eight Israeli human rights groups have called for an investigation into Israel’s war crimes.
Obama’s order to close Guantanamo Prison means very little. Essentially, Obama’s order is a public relations event. The tribunal process had already been shut down by US courts and by military lawyers, who refused to prosecute the fabricated cases. The vast majority of the prisoners were hapless individuals captured by Afghan warlords and sold for money to the stupid Americans as “terrorists.” Most of the prisoners, people the Bush regime told us were “the most dangerous people alive,” have already been released.
Obama’s order said nothing about closing the CIA’s secret prisons or halting the illegal practice of rendition in which the CIA kidnaps people and sends them to third world countries, such as Egypt, to be tortured.
Obama would have to take risks that opportunistic politicians never take in order for the US to become a nation of law instead of a nation in which the agendas of special interests override the law.
Truth cannot be spoken in America. It cannot be spoken in universities. It cannot be spoken in the media. It cannot be spoken in courts, which is why defendants and defense attorneys have given up on trials and cop pleas to lesser offenses that never occurred.
Truth is never spoken by government. As Jonathan Turley said recently, Washington “is where principles go to die.”

Interesting thing about War Crimes / Crimes Against Humanity. It looks like it is up to the offending country to initiate the prosecution. I may be mistaken but that’s my understanding of International Law on this.
The avenue for the Allied prosecution of German / Japanese War Criminals was that the existing Governments were held in abeyance and the land was under occupation, so then the Allies had jurisdiction.
So it seems that it is up to the Americans (if one could only find more than a handful) to prosecute these
crimes.

This article should make us all upset! What I rarely see is people trying to figure out what to do about it. All those with knowledge of the New World Order agenda should be writing how we are going to tell people. How are we going to unite? Does arguing facts back and forth make a change? Yeah, the truth…Not on this Site!!! When I spoke the truth, it was posted, made a lot of people angry (no wonder many sheep here) and they posted back, then I my posts were not allowed, then 1 1/2 hours later, my posts along with those who replied were deleted!!!!!
The funny thing about that was two days later I was able to post again and challenged the sheep to reply to me about why they would not question why their posts were deleted, not a word!

I made an observation.
The other day my friend and I had a discussion on how we found out about infowars dot com. He said he saw “INFOWARS.COM” ON his $ PAPER MONEY written on both sides. The letters were written on the edges (the empty spaces) as to not deface the paper money, yet prominent enough to get the person to check it out. Incidentally I found out about this site by “INFOWARS.COM” ON my £ PAPER MONEY! Recently I also saw “DAVIDICKE.COM/OBAMA” ON PAPER MONEY too.
Probably the founding fathers would DO THIS in our situation to wake people up (as well as GET OTHERS TO WRITE “INFOWARS.COM” ON PAPER MONEY too). As I said, it’s just an observation; I am not saying I AM DOING THIS nor am I saying YOU SHOULD DO THIS. NOW, have a good day. – InfoReborn

This article is all too true. I Know this from first-hand experience. This is the ‘informant age.’ To talk the talk is also to walk the walk, whether to the bread line or to the gas chamber. We do seem to have a planet indeed in peril, but mostly from those who can’t let go of the idea that success is controlling other peoples’ lives; for some, ending them. Some advancement in human nature must surely be ‘awakenable’ in sufficient numbers to change this dilemma…. Let me clue you in. Read JT Gatto’s “underground history of schools’ (pdf download someplace), or Iserbey, or others that have done research and give references. Forced propaganda ’schooling’ doesn’t add value to your life, it is meant to make you conform, create division in the family, and kill your individuality in the name of Utopia.
It is all right there in their own words, you just have to look. Once you understand this, you will undoubtedly have no more questions as in “if their are elites”, because their words, and their policies based on how the masses should behave, and be treated is, again, very well documented.

A while ago I was at a website that calls itself an ALTERNET-ive, progressive media & information site. During the presidential campaign that placed McCain & Obama as the choices that Americans are …..privaledged to get to vote for, that website was all decked-out in Obamanesque fashion & glory.
Ohhhhh, the evils of George Bush they once shouted and foamed & fumed over. They left no stone unturned and when they ran out of stones, they eagerly set about on a journey to find more stones from which to peer under. Today, with Obama being hailed by them, as the instigator of Hope & Change, they find themselves in the position of the Bushites; defending the Decider and just you wait and see……this will be good for America and Obama is open and honest.
During the Bush regime, such sites as that found it very appealing to attack the Neo-Con Regime and gave favor to those that pointed out the many plots of the Neo-Cons. Today, they attack those that speak bad of Obama and much of what the ‘governmentt’ is doing under Obama….even though it was bad under the Neo-Con regime.

What I find interesting is that not one politician has answered the question when asked why not just the bail out money and cut checks to every household in America. Wouldn’t a $10,000-$20,000 check to each American household stimulate the economy better then bailing out Wall street and the banks? I heard a very irate caller on the Washington journal on C-SPAN ask this very question to a democrat congressman this morning and I thought “great I want to hear his response” but of course the bastard rambled on about the bail out and never answered the callers question even though he said we need input from the people like the caller. First, one must know the word truth doesn’t have an exact definition. A few definitions are “a fact that has been verified”, “the actual state of things”, “knowledge of an ideal”, but to simplify the word truth is still debated. So using truth is not 100% factual in this story. Freedom of speech has been suppressed yes but using the word truth cannot be fully verified.
Second, the world knows the US and Israel has committed aggressive acts and possibly crimes of war. But on the other hand so has almost every country on this planet. Why are these stories only focusing on US and Israeli aggression? Why has it not focused on other crimes which the US has not involved itself in? With that in mind it shows this website has it’s own political agenda Anti US and Anti Israeli policies.
Third this website has alot of hypothetical suggestions by the writers. Hypothetical stories do get people to think but on the other hand infuses paranoia. You have to make your own decision being scared by hypothetical stories with anecdotal evidence, be able to ignore your paranoia, or accept that these stories have very little significance to reality.
This website claims to be informing the people of the wrong doings of government but on the other hand it is an idealistic place, full of hatred toward people that don’t believe your side of the story, intolerant to people who offer a different perspective, and full of anti government people. In simple terms this website is breeding anti government people with much intolerance. Just look around and you see alot of “f you brainwashed people” or “shut up” doesn’t sound very welcoming.
Don’t get me wrong government has done many things wrong but one must be realistic, factual, logical, and mature to understand it all. Declaring one person or group committed a crime requires that the court find him guilty. But before found guilty he/she is presumed innocent. Courts can also be corrupt but spewing “Obama is guilty” or “All politicians are guilty” shows nothing but negative sentiment towards politicians. My suggestion is get a reality check and live life to the fullest. Whatever is going on in Washington DC will continue even if a small group of individuals disagree. Political change only occurs when a large amount of people make it change, your truth movement is not big enough to evoke change. Change comes when a comes into power and has the ability to create change. If you are all into change then go get yourself elected and be the opposition. Good luck on trying to see reality instead of looking through the glass of hypothetical stories with anecdotal evidence and anti government ideals.

LOGOS is Greek and can be considered TRUTH.
I found out that this LOGOS can also be translated as ‘perfectly rational communication’ which would lead to perfection, and just think what might happen in the world if perfectly rational communication were proceeding! In the end, it boils down to LOVE: if people were all communicating and acting rationally, we would all be getting along just fine.

I am a veteran of Desert Storm. I voted for Bush (Father) and Bush (son). I believed I was patriotic and all my government and the media told me. I never researched beyond what I read in newspapers, after all, I believed the press didn’t lie although I did believe they could be unfair to the politicians I voted for. Oh well, I would say, only in the land of the free could we have such different opinions without fear of retribution. Then I woke up. This was truly who I was until 2005. It was then I got into an argument with a colleague at work on 9-11 and the Iraqi war and did some research to prove I was right. I found out just how wrong I was and so began a journey to where I am now. I cannot simply tell you and have you know how betrayed I feel. I used to think being a patriot was towing the line for my government. I now know a patriot questions everything his government does and insures they do it correctly. A patriot does not follow unlawful orders. A patriot disobeys the status quo. I am sickened by how many people wave there little American flags and proclaim themselves as patriots but when you ask them about there government and the names of the people who run it all you get is a blank stare or and “oh, I really don’t get into all that.” I feel like screaming “put down my flag until you do get into all of that!” This apathy is the rot within. I am an American. I am a Patriot. The elites have worked hard to make fools out of our fellow countrymen and now it is time we work harder to re-educate them on what it means to be an American and to never again apologize for it. Only when enough are educated will we have the critical mass for change. I thank you Alex for all you have done and the sacrifices you have made to do it.

While it is interesting speculation, it is highly doubtful that Bush, Cheney, or any members of the former US regime will ever be prosecuted for ordering or authorizing many of the heinous anti-human acts that have transpired under their watch of the last 8 years. And unlike the author’s sentiment, the Bush administration did not act in a lawless fashion. Just like his predecessors (think Lincoln, Wilson, Roosevelt, Johnson, & Nixon during their respective wartimes), Bush used every aspect of the law to his advantage and engaged in all activities sought by the DOD under the guises of the “war on terror”. And so will Obama. Any real persecution of the prior regime would violate the past precedents that many (if not all) members of the western industrialized nations follow regarding the use of “force” to achieve political objectives. They may verbally condemn it but that is the extent of their veracity. For POTUS 44 to pursue anything other than rhetoric against the prior regime would create such a schism within the realm that would most assuredly provoke the ruling military or intelligence entities to flex their muscle and quash the effort. Further, it is an observation as obvious as the sky is blue that truth cannot be spoken on the public airwaves of the US (or almost any where else for that matter).
