“People are not buying these concepts that are completely foreign to America,” Inhofe said at a townhall in Chickasaw, Okla. “We’re almost reaching a revolution in this country.”
Inhofe has been one of the Senate’s most strident opponents of climate legislation and healthcare reform.
Inhofe added that he didn’t need to read the full helathcare legislation before deciding to vote against it. Public opinion and news reports, he said, provided all the information he needed.
“I don’t have to read it, or know what’s in it,” Inhofe said. “I’m going to oppose it anyways.”
Most of the versions of healthcare legislation making their away through congress are about 1,000 pages long.

I’d have a lot more respect for his opinion if he had actually read that which he decries. It’s like people who say that Islam is a religion of women haters but have never read to Quran, or people who say that all Christians are nutty without reading and reflecting on the bible, or people who quote studies without reading them.
It’s all well and good to have an opinion but the wider the base of facts backing it the more stable the argument will be.

If you’re talking about Inhofe, I only somewhat agree. I didn’t read the entire bill but several parts would make me vote against it immkediately, including the part on taxpayer funded abortion (eugenics). Also, Muhammed had many wives, including a 6 year old, and I have read parts of the Quran where it put women beneath men. There aren’t any equivalents in the Bible of how the Quran portrays women. When they die, they don’t get virgins, they may just get to share their husband with his virgins, or if they’re really good, get one good man.

There is no reason to read it when its very existence is something you’re opposed to on principle in the first place.
It’s like, “Tax the people so that everyone may have an allotted protein shake each day. Protein shakes are highly nutritious, ultimately making it a cost-cutting preventative health enhancer – not to mention that the Government has a vested stake in the welfare of its citizenry. It’s a great day for ‘Nutritional Justice’,”. Make the argument as nuanced as you like, it goes back to one fundamental question that too many people evade: Is this the role of the Government? If your answer is ‘no’, then there is no rational basis for wasting your time reading it.

Doesn’t this guy collect a salary from American taxpayers to do his job, which is to actually READ legislation before he supports or opposes it? If he can’t read the 1000+ pages himself, that’s why he has staffers to do it. They can each take a section and break it down and summarize it so that even this jackass can understand it.
His attitude reflects the government’s incompetence and corruption that will ultimately cause a revolution, or at least cause politicians like him not to be re-elected. Reminds me of Congress rushing previous bills like TARP through without anyone reading them in full.
In the next elections, don’t vote for any incumbents, even if you think they’re doing a good job. At least try and send some new blood to DC rather than the same crap that’s there now.

If he had said what I feel – I don’t need to read it. The Federal Government has no Constitutional Authority to offer any Health Care and I am working day by day to reverse the thousands of other instances of Unconstitutional Overreach – then I’d back him.
He’s just saying exactly what the Libs are whining about – People aren’t reading it they’re just hearing what Beck and Limbaugh say.” It sounds like in Inhofe’s case, they’re right.
As far as the Revolution thing – I’d say he’s definitely seeing what’s coming down the pike. Whether it will be the people who’ve seen this for decades starting it, I don’t think so. I think it’ll be the Republicans who think this is just those damn Democrats trying to take power.
Unless people realize the truth behind the illegitimate Government and the institutional corruption stemming from a fractional reserve fiat currency controlled by a Private Company – I’m afraid a Revolution wouldn’t solve anything but letting a lot of Republicans vent their anger.

You don’t have to read 1000 page bill to vote AGAINST it. All you need is to find one segment of it that is unacceptable. I think almost any bill of 1000 pages should be rejected out of hand for a variety of obvious reasons, not the least of which is the difficulty of understanding and interpreting a law that long.

In response to Um, To deny poor women, ie, working class women access to abotions, is to guarantee potential health and financial burdens to an already burdened segment of our society. Women make sisty cents to a mans dollar, are more than likely to raise children without help from their divorced husband, husbands get wealthier after divorce, women get more destitute. These are just facts. What if the abortion you denied is horribly defective? who will pay the ongoing lifesupport and twenty seven reconstructive surgeries? People need to keep thier well-intentioned road to hell paving ideas to themselves until they’ve thought through to the very end all the effects their suggestions will have, when forcing others to conform to your decisions, are you also willing to stand by the effects of these decisions when they don’t pan out exactly like you planned? Have you single handedly raised a child on 11,000.00 a year and had that child turn out to be happy well adjusted with oppertunity in life to be financially secure, healthy, happy? Please think about how you would like to be a poor woman raising 10 or 11 children on $5.25 an hour, and remember, you are not Angela Jolie.

I agree with Jimbo. People will wake up as things get worse.
Part of the reason is America is heading towards revolution is because it is too big and power is too centralized. The only way it can safely survive is if the power is very decentralized and given to the 50 states. If the centralization increases don’t be surprised to see states revolt. Furthermore, don’t be surprised to see counties and towns within states revolting because their state is represive or will not stand up to the Federal government.

As for the explosion, I say that most gun owners were-are buying the extras that they wanted. I see it that most gun owners already have a sufficient store to satisfy their demands. You’re very wrong. Allah was the tribal deity of Mohammad’s tribe and Allah is the name of a moon deity. Mohammad was also married to a Catholic nun that was 20 years his senior and helped him create the Islamic faith. Before Islam there were some beliefs that stemmed from the monotheism of Abraham and the Biblical scriptures but it became polluted over time, other deities were adopted, older ones forgotten ,etc.
The name “Jesus Christ” is not the name of the Savior any more than Jehovah is the name of the Father. Both are corruptions and are negative terms used to mock YHWY.

No, I am not wrong, Allah was an ancient name for God the Arabic Christians use it to this day. It was never a “moon god’. Another case of manufactured history! No, check you ancient history, Allah was used for God before Mohammad and it was not the “moon god”.
You know I do not know exactly what happened with Mohammad. He went on his religious rampage of the sword I think with what he understood faith to be as best as he could. He really thought the Christians at the time were implying God has sex with Mary. No, I am not joking. This I think was part of the reason he denied the divinity of Jesus. Do I believe Mohammad was a prophet of God; no, still Allah was not a pagan Moon God and Mohammad knew this very well.
Still, Islam misrepresents the attributes of God, much the same as I see many Christians doing. No, I do not endorse Islam or Mohammad; still Allah was an ancient name for God used long before Mohammad by the Monolithic Faiths not the Pagans.
I stand by what I said and I am not wrong. There is not God but God and one of the name’s used in that part of the world for him even before the appearance of Mohammad was Allah.

I do believe that Mohammad was Monolithic and he really screwed up to put it mildly. This is just my opinion, he seemed to get worse with time and more bitter and more militant. I am not a Mohammad expert by any stretch of the imagination. This seems to be what I can glean, and after the first wife’s death I think something happened to him and he became worse. I could be wrong. This is just my take on it from a glance.
It does not one bit of good to insult Mohammad to a Muslim. I am very practical by nature. We need to pray for some other way to get through to them. I have read very credible reports over the web of God using the supernatural to call Muslims out of Islam, the web site is cool as hell and I do believe the credibility of it. God still speaks in the world today and he will make a way.

“This has to be one of the worst edited books I have ever seen. You can tell it was written in the 1990s and updated recently; they mention the election of Barack Obama. But they did a lousy job of updating the text. The time lines, ages and historic events are screwed up. For example on page 22, it says that Todd and Mary found the ranch on vacation trips to Idaho in 2001 (happily married at the time). On the same page it states the idea for a group retreat was formed in 2006, while Todd and T.K. were in college. Later, it says that Todd started working from home in 2008, using a PC with a 20 gig hard drive and a dial-up modem. Dial-up in 2008? Especially for a corporate sanctioned telecommuter? That may have been the standard in 1988! On page 35, Kevin graduates college in 2007 and starts as a junior programmer. Next paragraph Kevin is starting SECOND career as freelance programmer in 2002. I guess he started his freelance in high school? Also, Doug states his age as 22, but he was born a year after his parent got married, soon after his fathers return from Vietnam. Let’s see…The Crunch hits in 2009, so that means Doug was born in 1987, that means his father got home from Vietnam around 1986 or so. Delayed demobilization? POW release? These are just a few of the examples of bad editing and updating. ”

@American Princess: I agree with this review in general. Rawles’ “book” was originally written in the fairly early 1990s as a “web novel” and was initially called “The Grey 90s” (Grey, being the last name of the main character couple). It was pretty interesting from a number of perspectives back then and went through various iterations (”Double Ought” was one title referring to Y2K, and finally settling on a couple of versions of “Patriots”) Rawles predictions of how and when a collapse would/will occur haven’t come true, but from observations of the things leading up to a collapse, he has been fairly accurate. The final collapse hasn’t occurred, but many of the things that he talks about as being “causes” for collapse either are or have happened. So, the “updated” version has lost the original’s continuity… One thing that some people might find useful despite that is the information that Rawles gives (as part of the story) about preparedness, survival strategies, examples of things TO do, and if one pays attention, examples of things that the characters did that ended up being big mistakes. If you’re looking for a good hypothetical story, this one has lost its continuity. If you’re looking for some survival/preparedness information hidden within some story context and can realize that this was originally written ~15 years ago, this isn’t so bad. Then again, there are a number of other good books that tell a decent story with some of the same information. “Patriots” does have it all in one place tho. It used to contain a number of appendix that address those specific preparedness/survival topics that were very informative.

Let’s just get my first impression of you: I find your vernacular reprehensible, not only that, you are not focused, and are all over the place. Gee, ya think! I’ve been saying we’re going to have another revolution since I was thirteen, I’m pushing fifty. I was at the time, not political, I just payed attention and I love history. At this point in time, I believe our leaders today are so compromised, they are just looting for their handlers and their own personal gain, because they know there is no way of paying off our national debt, that they believe collapse is inevitable. The elite that have controlled the economic and political power in this country have been pushing us towards their Eden, a disarmed, dumbed down, poor, populace on which they can prey freely, like Russia, China, Cuba, Zimbabwe, etc. I do believe the tree of liberty is in need of a very large drink. 1st off since when did paper printed by the Fed ever have any real value?
