The Senate is expected to vote today on legislation that will destroy internet-based business.
The effort to undermine online business with sales over a million dollars has bipartisan support and the establishment media is downplaying its negative effect on an economy already seriously depressed.
The corporate media is also ignoring the additional burden the law will place on consumers hard hit by Federal Reserve engineered inflation and the prospect of rising taxation from government on the federal, state and local level.
In order for government to collect even more money from consumers, the so-called Marketplace Fairness Act will force online retailers to navigate more than 9,600 tax jurisdictions across the country. It will also expose business to audits by out-of-state tax collectors.
“This bill forces small businesses across the country to spend time and resources they should be using to create jobs, jumping through new bureaucratic hoops,” Montana Senator Max Baucus said on Sunday.
Montana does not have a sales tax. Alaska, Delaware, New Hampshire and Oregon also don’t force consumers to cough up more money at gunpoint and hand it over to out-of-control government.
In addition, the proposed law is a direct attack on state sovereignty and the Tenth Amendment. Absurdly, the law will force businesses in the states listed above to collect sales tax even though they live in a state without sales tax.
Use the citizen’s congressional directory for the 113th Congress to call your “representative” and demand they stop more government rape of the internet.
