Designed a decade ago to secure Internet communications between U.S. ships at sea, The Onion Router, or TOR, has become one of the most important proxies in Iran for gaining access to Web sites such as Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.
The system of proxy servers that disguise a user’s Internet traffic is now operated by a nonprofit, the Tor Project, that is independent from the U.S. government and military and is used all over the world.

Tor is supposed to be an annonymous way to share data over the internet. Just look at the 3 highest bandwidth top Tor peers – they are all US Gov ISPs, so all Tor communications go through these links.

Not really – they were probably ordered weeks ago by the CIA in Langley, VA. I’ll bet they were printed at local print shops in the DC area, boxed up and shipped to operatives in Iran – probably by UPS or FedEx.
Then they were disbursed via the appropriate channels to the “protesters”.
Nice resolution on those signs – I’ll bet they used a Xerox DocuColor 5000.
So obvious….

Do you think it’s possible to confirm this in anyway? It would be dumb—although not surprising—if the CIA actually did utilize non-Iranian commercial document vendors for such a job.
Another thing to bear in mind, however, is the general ignorance of most us—myself included, although I am doing my best to get up to speed—concerning life inside Iran and the quality of the country’s municipal and commercial-business infrastructure. For example, I was watching Freedom Watch last week when the Judge had an in-studio “former” neocon as a guest. The guest commented that the speed at which the election results were announced was evidence of some level of fraud because “Iran obviously doesn’t have the advanced technical capability to process election votes that fast” (paraphrasing). What he clearly didn’t know (and I didn’t know until a week before the show) was that Iran had over 40,000 polling locations that averaged less than 900 ballots cast per location. Local polling stations could easily count and recount the ballots, and then call the results into a central office for quick tabulation. A Casio calculator is all they would need, if anything.

Did anyone else see the picture that was posted on this site where there was a protester in the background off the the left was holding a sign that said (I kid you not) For Sale By Owner? I KNEW I should have copied it to my hard drive but I’m sure AJ has it in his archives. All I’m saying is a lot of the signs in the early protest pix looked photoshopped. the photos coming out now look more like print-and-paste to look more “home made” I’m guessing.
My question is if you were an actual Iranian who was protesting an election IN IRAN, wouldn’t you want your message to get out to your COUNTRY first? ie: wouldn’t you want your signs written in Farsi (Persian)? Iran is a very richly cultured and educated country. (My parents were there a few years ago). If anyone speaks a second language marginally well, you know how difficult it is to come up with words in your non-native tounge. Remember the shooting incident at the immigration center in upstate new york earlier this year? The police said they found this long, rambling, disgruntled note left behind by the suspect. The suspect was a Vietnamese immigrant who was reported to have difficultings communicating in English which was part of his anger. People would make fun of him. There is NO WAY he would have written a long letter in English.
Just sayin’…

I’m appalled at the number of “OH THE U.S. IS EVIL AND TO BLAME FOR EVERYTHING” IDIOTS on this board. Almost as many as the “YOU DON’T AGREE WITH ALL MY VIEWS, SO YOU’RE A F*&#%+G SHILL!” Sometimes stuff happens without our help. Sometimes stuff happens that needs our help. Sometimes some of you should eat a chill pill and play with your children [or siblings]. But, if you are still all enraged that the sun rose in the east, convinced that it was part of some government conspiracy, I have a little news for you. While there are a lot of conspiracies, EVERYTHING isn’t a conspiracy and while the U.S. has done quite a lot of bad stuff, everything bad that happens ISN’T the U.S.’s doing.
In case you skipped school that day, English is the “Universal Language” of the planet. The [at least up to now] the language of business & commerce. Hold up a sign in English to a camera and chances are your message will be understood worldwide. Hold up a sign in Farsi [or whatever the language is in Iran] and the world says “That’s nice, bye bye”.

The Imams chose the president and now they are surpressing the people. Will I cry if the theocracy in Iran is toppled? No. Do I think it will? No. There are a sufficient number of jackbooted thugs to keep the population in line. And if there are the random protester, the Imams will just have them beheaded! Well since your 50 brain cell mind forgot to mention this in your totally warped rant, Its been in several major US papers that the US CIA and special operations units have been operating in Iran for a few years now. Something else you can’t seem to understand and since you don’t understand logic, i will simply explain it to YOU. The Iranian Mulla’s pick ALL presidentual candidates so there would be no logical reason for them to cheat the other guy out of votes because the Mulla’s hand picked him to be on the ballot also.
Lets look at some history of US govt meddling in Iran. 1953 Coup of a freely elected president of Mohammad Mosaddeq and it was the US and British secret services that armed, trained and financed TERRORIST cells to blow Iranian govt buildings up, kill Iranian citizens and blame it on the govt, stir up violent protests, all so the US and Britian could get rid of a freely elected legitimate govt of Iran and install their puppet dictatorship.
By the way it turn out to be a brutal dictatorship, just so you know! I could point out declassified document after declassified document after declassified document, showing the absolute criminal behavior of our US govt in installing and propping up brutal dictatoships, who by the way tortured and murdered 10’s of thousands of their own people in those perspective nations where the US govt was active and knew about the bruttal nature of the dictatorships they installed!
I for one think you are either depserately niave or too dumb to read historical documents. Lilkey just a plain ol intellectual lair as it pertains to the US govts involvement and funding of TERRORISM,MURDER and COLLASPING of other nations whom were not nor ever would have been any threat to the United States of America!

Robert46,
I think I have you beat by at least 4 ‘o those brain cells! So, the evil CIA is operating in Iran. Their actually doing what they are supposed to do. Pay attention here, the CIA is supposed to operate overseas to; A. collect information on our “non-friends”, and B. operate in ways against those governments. Does this mean the CIA caused the demonstrations? Are we whipping up huge numbers of college students & urban youths to defy their “god given” government? Or are the people there just tired of having Muslim Shiria Law rammed down their throats? The sane throats that get cut as thet are beheaded for the most trivial offense.
Did the US install the Shah? Yes. Was he any worse than the Muslim Theocracy that replaced him? No! Iran went from a ruthless but semi-benevolent dictator to a string of ABSOLOUTE BRUTAL THUG DICTATORS.
So while I continue to school your juvenile ass in the ways of the world, suck on this; If life is so frickin great in Iran under the Mullas and Imams, MOVE THERE! I’m sure you would last about a day, maybe two, before you found your head in a basket!

Iran is not our friend you say? So there are Iranians in the US collecting information on us and trying to operate against us? That is basically what you are trying to say. Do not get me wrong, I know that there are CIA Agents in Iran and know what they are trying to do but you make it seem like they(CIA) are the good guys. Everybody knows that we are not in good terms with Iran. You have to look at the bigger picture on what the global elite is trying to do. The media has most people dumbed down and they show and tell you what they want you to hear on television. That is exactly why they want to get rid of the internet because there is more truth on the internet than anywhere else. Our government is corrupt and evil. You have to do your own research.

I don’t think so, there is still a lot of good here. You rant about our freedom and the founding fathers, but when Iran’s youths take to the streets in mass protest, facing the clubs and gun muzzles of the police and military all you can do is bitch about the CIA. Instead of griping that “our government is EVIL…”, why don’t you support the Iranian peoples cry for freedom? It is really ironic that as you whine about freedom, you are siding with one of the most repressive, evil governments on earth. You scream at me when I say “If life under the Mullas in Iran is so great, move there”, but I stand by it. You bitch that the US is “SO EVIL” and “the CIA is ooerating inside innocent Iran”. TOR may have been funded, in part, by the US Government (like the internet itself) but it has long since moved beyond the scope and control of the US Government.
I have no doubt the US government, the Israelis, and the British (as well as several others) have been poking around in Iran. But the use of TOR by the Iranian Opposition is no more proof of this than is the fact that they also use the Internet itself.

The protesters are a small minority and font forget Iran is a nation of 70 million. The protesters are located in the north of Iran and are of rich and privledged origins. So then you got the butcher of bierut ( Mousavi ) talking about how he is going to privatise the country and straightaway the sheep think $$$$$.

This article proves nothing.
The internet was developed for military purposes, as well. And what happened? It moved beyond those purposes. The same thing with TOR (which is easy to get and use, despite what some of the posters above say.) If you use TOR, and look at the IPs, most are not government. This happened when TOR went public. Why else would individuals, such as hackers, use TOR if it was indeed monitored by the government, as some of you have claimed?
One more thing:
So according the logic and purpose of why this article was posted… The internet was developed by the military, and Alex Jones and the Truth Movement extensively use the internet. Therefore, Alex Jones and crew must be CIA shills, payed to divert our attention from any real issues.

I prefer the Ubuntu Linux distro for an operating system, Mozilla.org products for browser, email client, and calender, Openoffice.org for document creation software (equivalent of MSoffice). There is even an open source first person shooter game (like quake) Alien Arena 2009.

I lived in the US for 20+ years and frequently told when trying to wake people up back int he mid 70s that “if you don’t like it here in God’s country, the land of the free, why don’t you leave?”
I did 10 years ago, and found myself more free surrounded by more intelligent people who were just as kind and generous as my former fellow americans.

Think about what the CIA has admitted, been suspected of and look again at those protest signs.
Surely the Iranian gov’t is no worse than ours – remember the republicans stole at least one election, maybe two; and would have gone for a third if they could make it seem the vote was a closer decision in the last one Thank God it was not too close to call this last time we’d have republican prez for sure, but sadly as I’ve suspected and told those I’ve tried to awaken; POTUS is a puppet and has been since Kennedy in my opinon.
Pease, out…

Sorry, keyboard batteries are fading…
1st paragraph should read:
I lived in the US for 20+ years and was frequently told when trying to wake up people back in the mid/late 70s that “If you don’t like it here in God’s country, the land of the free, why don’t you leave?”

Alex Jones and the “infowarriors” would take away a piece of old bread from a starving person if it was given to them by the CIA.
Shame on them.

This seems to be the “I HATE AMERICA” thread on this board. And boy howdy, do the lot of you hate this nation. Libertarian, above says “Surely the Iranian gov’t is no worse than ours…”. This is about a nation that beheads or stones people for; adultery, pre-marital sex, parental disrespect, and other “crimes”. If the people dare to demonstrate against the government they can EXPECT to be beaten [not just whacked] with truncheons and shot. In Iran, when you protest the government you are defying the religous leadership that control everything. Ahmedijad has even called for a “New World Order” in several speeches. So it strikes me quite strangely that the lot of you here denounce these Iranian protests.
You think you are so awake, but your wooly fleece is showing. Baaaaa

Hi Davis,
You are right: I should have clarified my post about the Iranian Gov’t being like ours was meant strictly when it comes to stifling dissent.
As you correctly point out the US doesn’t (yet) punish people barbarically for minor crimes in those specific ways you mention.
However, we do have a lock ‘em up and throw away the key approach to many a minor crime in the good ole US of A which I know some people in other parts of the world look at and shake their head in wonder over.
No place is perfect, all places have a peculiar mix of good and not so good.
We must endeavour to find a place with a mix of good and not so good that we can live with and I just couldn’t live with the american mix over the decades. Better yet, people could/should be able to create their own society with a mix of good and not so good that they like, but alas the vehicle for so doing has been hijacked…
Sadly the US mix of good and not so good developed over the past 10 years is being exported around the (western) world fairly quickly.
It’s maybe important also to note that I love America, and almost all Americans – espeically the ideas and ideals about America taught to me in High School during the 70s. It saddens me that I wil probably never go back after what happened to me the last time – but that’s another story for another day.
Trust not a single Gov’t agency.
Educate yourself, independently at that.
Safe.

It is very true that our government has been hijacked, just as Iran’s has. But what really troubles me is that the “officials” doing most od the finger pointing are from the crooked Iranian regeme that is desperately trying to retain power. And the bulk of the readers of this board are so gullible that they just say “Yup, more CIA stuff, evil bastards”. They accept the accusations of the corrupt government that is also busy beating and shooting the protesters. The other 10 to 16 deaths that occured off camera don’t seem to matter. It is rather evident to me that the Iranian government is the culprit in these deaths. Government should only come from a mandate from the people. [Please lets NOT rehash Bush, BOTH canidates slugged it out in court and only 1 can win.] When an election is SO obviously rigged and people take to the street, th least WE should do is support their effort for freedom. And I noticed that lots of folks say a lot about freedom here.

Alot off people here don’t like Mosavi because he helped kill hundreds of Marines in Beriut in 1984. There are a lot of Marines that would love to kill him. He would nuke Isreal and New York just as fast as Maqmoud. The real CIA/M16 guy is Prince Pahlavi son of the Shah.
The only way the kids in Iran are ever going to have a chance to go to discotechs and pop ecxtasy and and have extra marital sex like American kids is with a Savak like crack down on the Islamist Fundelmentalist.
As more and more Americans begin to distrust thier government, some see the Islamic Revolution as a hedge against The Empire that stole the freedoms and economic future of America.

Hello Info warriors,
Here is an interesting article I saw on the internet written by an author who goes under the name Karmasurfer here I reproduce it which gives a little info on who is the most Powerful person in the World and it aint the President of the United States. It is more like the head of state of the United Kingdom.
I guess it is true all trouble in the world can be traced back to the City of London. Or Babylon-don as some would say.
That is why when Khamenei said Britain is the most Evil of all the nations. We at infowars know exactly what he meant. He was referring to the British Global Elite like Queen Elisabeth the last of the Hysos Hebrew Zionist Jewish Egyptian Pharoes out of Egypt.
According to Micheal Tsarion, remember that the the Egyptian people rose up against the Hyksos Hebrew Pharoes like Queen Nefertiti and Akhenaten and kicked these tyrants out.
Apparently the shame of being booted out of Egypt they started building their New World Order from that point on. Sure they lost their beloved Egyptian Throne so what they do? They are conquer the entire world to make up for it and put their Luciferian dark solar cult as the one world religion.

Ever get the feeling you’ve been lied to your whole life? I don’t mean discovering your parents lied to you about the Easter Bunny or finding out fluoride was not only bad for your teeth but was rat poison or that your parents were really brother and sister. I mean something so Earth shaking that it’ll pulverize the bedrock of your whole belief system to the point it’ll spin you in a completely different direction.
Ralph Ellis wrote a book called “Jesus, Last of the Pharaohs” where he claims Jesus was the son of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra and named Ptolemy XV, the last of the Ptolemic Pharaohs, or as Julius liked to call him, Caesarian, which means little Caesar. When Caesar was named god by the Roman senate, he was considered god to the whole world. Caesarian was also recognized as god in Egypt as the son of Cleopatra. She named him king of kings at the age of 13. When Julius got knifed by the senate, his son Octavian took control of Rome and ordered Caesarian dead. Cleopatra feared for the life of her first born son, and sent him to India with her most trusted servants, who became parent guardians to watch out for him. Could these servants be Mary and Joseph? For anonymity, his name was changed to Esau, which means son of Isis, and just happens to be the Egyptian name for Jesus.
In 1887 Nicolas Notovitch wrote a book called “The Unknown Life of Jesus Christ” which tells of his discovery of ancient scrolls that tell of a philosopher named Isa who arrived as a teenage boy from a small Mediterranean country to study the teachings of Buddha, five hundred years after Buddha died, which coincided with the lost years of Jesus.
Now here’s the freaky part.
Mary Magdalene, or Cleopatra Selene, was the half sister of Jesus. She’s also identified in the Bible as Mary Cleopus or Mary of Cleopatra.
The wedding Jesus and Mary Magdalene attended was actually their wedding, otherwise the Bible would have said something about their hosts. (I guess incest is best)
Since Jesus lost everything because of Octavian Caesar, he wanted to get it back so he had a plan to take over the Roman Empire, by starting a new religion and turn it into the Holy Roman Empire.
Since Jesus was well trained in ayurvedics and meditation and able to shut off pain, and since he had a foot pad on his cross to hold his weight, and since he was on the cross for only six hours before his friends got him down and immediately took care of his wounds with expensive healing oils and herbs, is it possible he survived his crucifixion and allowed his death and resurrection to go on as a way to solidify his new religion? Was this all part of the plan?
Now these people were far from poor. Mary Magdalene, or Cleopatra Selene, was wealthy, as were all of their friends. Their bloodlines were directly from Caesar, Cleopatra, Alexander, and the greatest nobility the world has ever seen. These were very rich people with a plan to take over the world.
And this bloodline traveled 2,000 years to Queen Elizabeth herself.
That’s right. Elizabeth is the last Hebrew Pharaoh and ruler of the world with The Vatican as the religious head and Rothschild as world banker.
Hey, don’t take my word for it. This stuff is out there if you dig for it.
Bulls---, you say? Well, just keep your eye on Prince William. Sure as God made little green apples he’ll emerge as the world ruler in five years. That is, if we live that long.

TOR is not an encryption software. A proxy and a data encryption are two different things… idiots.
