Iranian Police Fire On Demonstrators

Thousands of Iranians took to the streets on Saturday in defiance of an ultimatum from supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for an end to protests over last week’s disputed presidential election.
A suicide bomber meanwhile struck a key regime monument — the south Tehran mausoleum of revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei, killing himself and wounding at least two people, state media reported.
The demonstrators braved tear gas and water cannon to assemble in Enghelab Square in the heart of the capital, witnesses said, as foreign media were again barred from covering the opposition event.
“The robocops beat us up badly,” one protestor told AFP. “Men and women were beaten up… My whole body is bruised… They confiscated my camera.”
Members of the Basij Islamic militia, which has been at the forefront of the regime’s efforts to face down a week of protests against official results giving hardline incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a second four-year term, were again out in force.
However, protestors were catching Basijis on motorbikes and beating them, a witness said.
Riot police deployed to the rally venue chosen by opposition leaders after security chiefs threatened to deal harshly with any more protests against the official outcome of the June 12 election.
One of the rally organisers, the Combatant Clerics Assembly, had announced it was backing out after the authorities refused to grant authorisation.
The interior ministry said no rally would be permitted anywhere in the country and warned “those who violate this will be confronted according to the law.”
On Friday, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei demanded an end to the opposition’s protests, warning the defeated candidates would be responsible for any bloodshed beyond the seven deaths reported by state radio so far.
Amnesty International said it had reports of up to 10 deaths since the disturbances erupted.
The head of Iran’s security council, Abbas Mohtaj, sent a specific warning to Ahmadinejad’s main defeated challenger, moderate former premier Mir Hossein Mousavi.
“Your national duty tells you to refrain from provoking illegal gatherings,” he wrote in the letter made public on Saturday.
“Should you provoke and call for these illegal rallies you will be responsible for the consequences.”
Electoral watchdog the Guardians Council said it was ready to randomly recount up to 10 percent of ballot boxes from the election, state television reported.

Neither Mousavi nor Karroubi showed up at the meeting, Iran’s Press TV reported, without saying why.
The Iranian capital has been rocked by daily demonstrations since the re-election of Ahmadinejad drew accusations by his defeated challengers of massive vote fraud.
Siding with Ahmadinejad in his first public appearance since the vote, Iran’s supreme leader ruled out major fraud in the poll.
“The people have chosen whom they wanted,” Khamenei said in a nationally broadcast address, referring to Ahmadinejad.
Mousavi has repeatedly demanded a re-run of the poll, denouncing the election as a “shameful fraud.”
But Khamenei said there could be no doubting Ahmadinejad’s re-election. “The legal mechanisms in our country do not allow cheating. How can one cheat with a margin of 11 million votes?” he asked.
US President Barack Obama warned Iran that the “world is watching” its actions.
“I’m very concerned based on some of the tenor and tone of the statements that have been made that the government of Iran recognise that the world is watching,” the president said on US television.
Obama also attempted to debunk claims by some in the Iranian leadership that demonstrators were acting at the behest of the United States, which has had a history of antagonism with Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
Senior US officials stressed that Washington was making strenuous efforts to avoid being drawn into the crisis in a way that could be used by the government against the demonstrators.
“The more the United States looks like they are going to interfere, the more it is going to be detrimental,” said one official on condition of anonymity.
“This is not about us.”
Other world powers and entities have also expressed concern about the post-election violence and widespread arrests, with EU leaders, the UN human rights body and Amnesty International urging Iran to respect the right to protest.
In the face of the regime’s biggest crisis since the 1979 revolution overthrew the pro-Western shah, Iran’s Islamic rulers have repeatedly lashed out at “meddling” by foreign powers.

That’s a rather odd statement. I have personally seen protests, and participated in them, right here in America. I know hundreds of people who actively engage the enemy on a daily basis. I can at any given time find hundreds of others on-line who are doing the same. I’m certain if I travel from town to town I’ll find even more.
There are plenty of Americans doing something. Perhaps after having decades of corruption, moral degeneration, liberalism polluting the minds of young students, etc, we have become more accustomed and accepting of it, but I wouldn’t go as far as to act as if there is not a large opposition in America to the corrupt powers that be.

CNN can’t figure out why American youth aren’t rallying to their cause. They can only get US born Iranian women to speak up in protest. Maybe because the kids know that to be beaten, maimed or killed, all you have to do is protest the WTO. No need to go to Iran to have all that happen to you. Visualize $6.00 per gallon Petrol and $8.00 per gallon Diesel by Late July or early August especially if Israel makes a pre-emptive strike on the Natanz Nuclear Facility and Iran responds by shuting down the Straights of Hormuz. All they have to do is sink a supertanker or two in the Channel of the S of H and then watch oil futures go to $300/Bbl and Gold to hit $2000/Oz.

While it is obvious that the CIA is behind the movement in Iran, the irony is that the American sheeple are sitting here cheering them on in their fight against repression but wouldn’t dare try to rise up in such a manner against the Fed. We cheer them on all the while blindly embracing a repressive government of our own, freely giving it the same powers the Iranian people are fighting against. And sadly the Iranian government is playing right into the hands of the CIA by using force against its citizens. Just think how much power the people pf Iran would have if they were allowed to have firearms. I admire them for the risk they are taking. Maybe that is why the current leaders in our country want us disarmed. The Second Amendment is just not for the right to hunt. It is for our protection to defend ourselves from a tyrannical government.

John Bolton just called for the U.S. to overthrow the Iranian government.
Anyone know if he did this while he worked for Bush ?

didnt the u.s. over throw the shaw in iran in the 50’s and give all the oil to the queen (british petroleum, b.p.) then they had a revolution in the 70’s and Ahmadinejad and a crew of his men stormed the U.S. embassy and took their country back along with their oil? hmm… seems pretty fishy whats going on now.. its like obama fever over there for Mousavi, i personally thought Ahmadinejad kicked ass at first, how he’d rip on zionism and the U.S. and their combined efforts but now it seems that power had gotten to his head and he’s just turning into a dictator and not respecting the concept of the republic they have recreated since the 70’s.

This is history in the making folks. The NWO is close and we (the infowarriors) will be remembered for our fight for freedom. Alex will be honoured when all is over for his fight.
I met many Iranians and they are incredibly warm hearted people. It saddens me that they have to endure this brutality. They just want freedom like everyone else.
We don’t ask for much do we…freedom, liberty and a bit of property for all our hard work. What do the elite want. Just everything in the entire world and us all as slaves or dead. Well thats just great! I will resist them all the way but lets be smart and fight our battles strategically. Billions of heads are smarter than a few thousand elites with cash and an army. We are even the army and police if we would only wake up!
