CNN’s John Roberts talked with John Ging who is the director of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Gaza. Ging believes that Israeli shells that recently struck the U.N. complex contained white phosphorus. “It looks and smells like phosphorus and it’s burning like phosphorus. That’s all I can say. That’s why I’m calling it phosphorus,” said Ging.

The complex under fire is the U.N. central distribution facility in Gaza. “We’re trying to deal with our whole transport compound. It’s on fire and now have some danger spreading into the warehouse, where all of the food and thousands of tons of food and medicine. This is a hub of the whole operation, the whole United Nations operation in Gaza, this is the hub, where it all comes to, gets distributed from,” he said.
Three people have been reported as injured in the attack.
The Associated Press also reports that a hospital, several high-rises, and media building was hit by Israeli shelling and wounded several journalists.
A building housing the Associated Press offices was hit by bullets, with no reports of injuries at that location.

I’m sick of hearing about poor Gaza. They continue to bomb israel even under peace treaties. Nobody cares when the gaza people blow up buses and stores with innocent people and kids just getting food or going to school. Keep up the good work Israel. Do what you have to do to survive. The United Nations is a farce. There are reports that the terrorists rearm and refortify in clear sight of the UN forces. UN forces refuse to acknowledge that it is their responsibility to prevent the rearming. So the world experiences frequent war in a pattern: the terrorists call for a ceasefire; during the ceasefire they rearm and reassemble under the watchful eyes of the peacekeepers; then the terrorists resume launching missiles at Israeli civilians until the Israelis retaliate.
Now Hamas is wanting a temporary ceasefire. There should be no ceasefire granted. This is, after all, Israel defending itself against a hostile terrorist enemy. And this enemy should be annihilated. But the world is upset that Palestinian civilians are being harmed in the process. The world ignores what must be painfully obvious to every Israeli soldier-that one cannot distinguish between Palestinian civilians and the terrorists. The terrorists live among the so-called civilians; they booby trap the neighborhoods; hide their weapons in public places such as schools and mosques; and fire missiles and artillery from schools and highly populated residential neighborhoods.
Palestinian terrorists are the civilians; they are the elected party in power; they are the chosen government of the Palestinian civilians and they are the civilians. Another thing the world needs to recognize, despite demands for peace and words of conciliation, is that no Islamist will be satisfied until Israel is destroyed-this is the goal of Hamas, Hezbollah, the PLO-now the Palestinian Authority-and it’s the goal of Russian-backed Iran, which supplies the terrorists with finances and weaponry. This is completely enraging and it’s going to set off the rest of the Middle East like a powder keg.
