U.S. officials have asked Israel to refrain from launching any major military action in the region during the waning days of the Bush presidency, Israeli sources have told TIME. Previously, some Israeli military officials had hinted to the media that if Israel were to carry out its threats to strike at Iranian nuclear installations, it might do so before Barack Obama enters the White House in January. But now a Defense Ministry official says, “We have been warned off.”

The call for restraint was relayed to Israeli officials by senior U.S. counterparts, TIME’s sources say, and it is likely to be reinforced during Monday’s valedictory meeting in Washington between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and President George W. Bush. (See pictures of President Bush in the Middle East.)
Washington’s concerns are not limited to the possibility of Israel attacking Iran, the sources say; U.S. officials have also cautioned Israelis against launching a ground assault inside the besieged Palestinian territory of Gaza in a bid to stop militants there from firing rockets into southern Israel. Bush Administration officials warn that such an attack could cost many lives and jeopardize the painstaking, thus far futile efforts of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to broker a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Looks like we’ll have the “Iran War” to be dealing with before long and that’s just great! So much for what’s left of our already pulse-less economy…the Fed will just print more money out of thin air to fund the Iran conflict, which means just more of the same economically (but almost certainly worse)! Man, we are all SO screwed! Kind of makes you wonder if the government is trying to set-up the banks with all the funding they can now, knowing that the public will not tolerate it when tons of additional money are being dumped into the Iran War effort. Man, I’ve never been more ashamed of our government than I am right now.

#8, we pray for people like yourself, who will go down in this global conflict, that was prophesied thousands of years ago. Are you 100% sure you are right? No, you can’t be. There is always that little bit of doubt…maybe only 1%, but it’s there. What if we Bible thumpers are right? What if you go into eternity rejecting God? Are you sure you can trust in your own understanding? Can you explain all of the intricate details of how this earth was formed and can sustain life? I’m sure you cannot, so how can you begin to be sure there is no God? Is it really worth your eternal soul?
All you have to do is ask in prayer for God to reveal Himself to you. It takes a little bit of humility and some reducing of your pride, but you can do it where no one sees you if that makes you feel better.
I will not be coming back to this article so no need to post a negative remark to me as I won’t see it, but I do encourage you to ask God to reveal Himself. I was once as atheistic as a person can get, and God revealed Himself to me when I humbly came before Him in prayer. Just so you know I’ve been there.

I’ve got My Faith (Catholic) and I try to keep it apart from politics/policy. So for those of you that don’t think it belongs in the political arena I have to agree with that as well. I’m not for fire and brimstone and I don’t think fear-mongering will get people to believe more or less in God. The Irony of the Whole situation is that the whole reason the Middle East is in complete turmoil is as a result of religious differences for about 2000 years roughly. In my opinion…This is another reason why Religion SHOULD be left out of Political or Diplomatic efforts. People won’t change what their faith is based on a post…or even a peace treaty. So…people of faith I respect your intent to spread the word…I think solutions would be much more productive. Not everyones shares the same faith or even has faith. Bringing faith into this topic is counterproductive.
On Topic…I figured this out about a month ago when Iran claimed to be test firing missiles and The US moved a Anti-missile battery into Israel. Iran claimed this type of missile would be capable of hitting Southeast Europe(Bulls---). The Difference this time is the EU(European Union…including France) should actually put equal resources or greater to this conflict. I’m tired of these “Alliances” when the USA has 85% of deployed forces there. The EU should step up to the plate on this…Let them lead the diplomatic talks. Let them commit their citizens life as well. Let it be a True “Alliance” and not just a word to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy

Well, here we go again. It seems to me that some people have orgasmic experiences when talking about a nuclear holocaust. im still looking for the evidence that any of this has anything to do with obama. Am I missing something? If I was bush I would tell isreal to hold off and attack iran when obama takes office. that wil f&^%$ screw obama good. But I see nothing in this article or anywhere else thats saying Obama has asked isreal to wait.
