Four leading Israeli rabbis have sanctioned the murder of civilian population in the Gaza Strip amid the Israeli onslaught on the region.

“When a population living near a Jewish town sends bombs at the Jewish town with the purpose of killing and destroying Jewish lives there, it is permitted, according to Jewish Law, to fire shells and bombs at the firing sites, even if they are populated by civilians,” read a ruling issued by Rabbi Yaakov Yosef, Rabbi Dov Lior, Rabbi Shalom Dov Wolpe and Rabbi Meir Mazuz.
The four added that a warning should be issued prior to any attacks; however, they reiterated that the army’s response to rocket or mortar fires may be immediate “even if there is no time for a warning.”

The rabbis argued that the army should announce that it would bomb any civilian community from which a rocket is fired to force the local residents into confronting those who fire rockets or mortars at Israeli targets.
Rabbi Mazuz is a member of the Shas Council of Torah Sages.
The ruling seems to give a free hand to Israeli commanders to attack Gaza’s civilian population and persuade those troops who have reservations to kill civilians due to humanitarian considerations.

***Do you read Greek, T.P.? I ask because the N.T. makes no distinction(s) between one “jew” and another in terminology, but only in *context*. Jesus was referred to as “The King of the Jews” in several scriptures in the N.T. Our Lord didn’t deny the moniker (ref. Luke 23:3!). The term “jew” is derived from “Judah”, at least in part; in fact Jesus Christ is referred to as “The Lion of the Tribe of Judah”. Jesus was “the Son of David” (in his genetic line; it had to be so in order for Him to be eligible to assume the throne as King!), and David was of the tribe of Judah. Both David and Jesus were born in Bethlehem of Judea.

****There IS NO letter *J* in the Greek, as such, so your point is partly moot. There IS what’s referred to as a *Jod* in the Hebrew, though! In fact the name of *Yahweh* was originally translated as what’s referred to (as you must be aware) as the *Tetragrammaton*; i.e, YHVH). The “Jod” functioned as the character giving the Y sound in the Hebrew, similar to the German ’soft J’.
As we communicate in neither Greek nor Hebrew in America, there’s been considerable ‘transliteration’ between words, phrases, etc. in translation. My point is this: you’re ‘majoring in the minors’ in making an argument about semantics based upon your theological biases. You must speak to the authenticity of the original manuscripts, rather! Are the 5000 + manuscript/MS fragments (N.T.) genuine, authentic and trustworthy in their contents? Are O.T. sources such as the DSS (Dead Sea Scrolls) bogus? (careful, before you answer! The Isaiah scroll in the DSS compared to other MSS are virtually IDENTICAL in their text). They’re quite old, you know: the 500 and 200 years figures you cited are irrelevant to my previous question, I believe.
