John Cusack on Military-Industrial Complex: ‘The gig is up’

John Cusack was on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher and spoke about his upcoming film, War. Inc., which according to Cusack focuses on the military-industrial complex.
The film, says Cusack, differs from other films inspired by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan because, it “has a much more absurdist take on [war].”
Cusack added, “some things are so vicious if you didn’t look at them through a different lens you couldn’t get out of bed. And certainly the war profiteering, immorality and illegality of this disastrous, free-market Utopian enterprise out there is certainly well-documented.”

While explaining that the film shares similar themes as those found in Naomi Klein’s book, The Shock Doctrine, Cusack said, “the very core things that make up our government like wars or interrogation or border patrol, jailing, any of those types of things that you would think would be sacred things that would happen with the state are now being turned into for-profit enterprises. And if you want all these things to be, if you want corporate ethics to be our national interest, then you have the situation we’re in now. But right now, when you think that we’ve out sourced everything to interrogation, which means torture is a cost-plus enterprise, I think you can see a complete spiritual bankruptcy to this whole neo-con movement. It’s a nightmare beyond anything you can really imagine.”
Maher asked if these issues were just a result of a neo-conservative movement and Bush administration or evidence of a “rot in America itself that is a lot deeper.”
Cusack responded, “Yeah, I do think the issue goes deeper, a lot deeper.”
Adding later, “Some of these truths are so horrible you don’t want to think about that, but it’s just — I mean the gig’s up. If guys who are statesmen on CNN are also sitting on the board and are shareholders in some of the most profitable defense contractors in the world and they publicly make the case to go to war, got to war, then create a new market with the war, come back and speak evangelically about free markets that aren’t free, these aren’t particularly subtle fact and the stock prices jump 145% and their companies are awarded $2.3 billion contract. After a while you have to expose and shame and indict and hopefully convict the participants in this illegal immoral ideology.”

So is anyone calling out bill maher on his attacks on the ‘911 truth seekers’, etc. and how they need to consider a prescription for Paxil …but yet he lets John Cusack come on his show and treats him like ‘normal kinda of’ folk ? “Oh john working on a movie ?” “Are you on the set of some movie”?
See here’s the deal Bill …john is making a movie about profiteering from War. And for this to work, some of the very same things that the 911 truth seekers are attempting to expose is part and parcel to the larger formula. I imagine John’s movie will offer us the necessary ‘tesserac’ or parts of it …but will anyone even have the contexts to get it ? ? ?

I like what John Cusack says in this interview but it seems both he and Bill Maher are still operating under the belief that there’s a difference between NEOCONS and the Democrats. John appeared to resist being pinned down on who he supports. I get so tired of Bill Maher’s arrogant assumptions. Have you seen John’s movie “The Jack Bull?” It’s an interesting treatment of the concept of Natural Justice/Law in the Old West.

I like John Cusack, he’s a good actor. It’s good to know that there is some hollywood actors that acually care about real issues and not just how much money they have. From this interview it seems like Cusack knows his stuff and he’s informed. So thats good.

John Cusack is quite awesome. Hes an excellent actor, makes very good films, and evidently is political and I had no idea. I just watched the trailer for War INC. and it looks good, I pictured more of documentary than anything else, so the fact that its a real movie kind of threw me off. But I’m excited. Any movie thats going to show even just a bit of the tyranny and stupidity of the American government will be spectacular.
I agree with 22 that he seems informed, the fact that he says things like ‘it’s vicious’, and ‘the gig is up’. Maybe with all of his high level contacts the gig really is up. Talk of another 9/11 investigation in the UN, movies becoming more and more open about the feelings of the public, more people becoming aware of the lies. Things are actually looking better. Its a small small step, but atleast its one in the right direction.

Folks Controlled Demolition inc. was at Oklahoma city, in charge of “clean up.” And I have seen video I believe on one of the 911 doc’s on google that slows down, and shows controlled demolition inc. at ground zero after the fall of the towers. Now if we know that OKC was an inside job, what is the difference with the twin towers? Why was controlled demolition inc. there if there was such short notice? This question has NEVER been addressed. And surely is reasonable to ask wether you believe in it being an inside job or not. Investigate it for yourself.

One thing about this interview that struck me was that Bill Maher never addressed the accusations presented by Cusack. Bill Maher’s says over and over that the dems ain’t no better and he says nothing else. Nothing. Listen to the interview again. All Maher does is tries to create more two party puppet show. It’s not JUST the private contracted mercenaries that should leave the Middle East,but definitely the soldiers as well. The whole thing is illegitimate(meaning ‘illegal’). Cusack does deserve some respect for saying what he said,but then again,he must still go deeper,you know like-9/11 deeper.
None of the presidential candidates are going to come right out exposinbg these issues unless they plan on committing political reputational suicide. So don’t count on that. But,if they do come out more and more,we can all push together to push these ‘hooligans’ off the cliff. I’d like to see Maher lead the push. He’s wondering and that’s a very good thing. His questions show understanding and even compassion now. Why? I don’t know,but it is promising. Who knows what Maher will say next. Maybe he’ll just come out with it. We as the majority of the human species need only seek education and to educate others if we truly want peace and liberty, we must once and for all of history cut away this cancerous growth, the elite as we call them. When I say educate I don’t mean expensive collage that is now a days no longer an institute for higher learning, that is for the exception of the more fiscally fortunate of the populous, and is now an industry of indoctrination of sex, football, clep tests and is mostly a popularity contest. Most young people will happily assimilate themselves into any institution so long as they can stave off having to participate in the minimal of personal thought which comes with truly standing on your own two feet for a few years. Learn to be an autodidactic and stop your pity fighting over minor trivial ideological beliefs and unite, no more us and them, just us and no more them and we, just we. Help plant the seeds of dissent, and a wave of indignation and sedition will grow exponentialy, if we want it to. Know that even if you believe that those around you are un-saveable, willfully ignorant, and partially lobotomized sheeple that what ever you tell them or show them can never be unseen or unheard. We have to get the truth out of our heads and out of our blogs, out of this cabal and into the collective consciousness. We must make it part of the lexicon. I find humor is the easiest and least abrasive way to do this and because only with due respect and dignity (remember we all have feelings and most of us are still completely sensory creatures running from pain to pleasure) can we hope to get the average “GOOD’ citizen to begin to rebel mentally then the logical next step is a conscious action. i think the last comment hit it on the nose. that there is nothing we will be able to do about this new world order corporate regime witch has been time and time again threatening our country and has not shown any signs of slowing down but instead progressing at an alarming rate more so through the bush administration. the economy is finished, and soon many people will know poverty. poverty will create crime, crime will create civil unrest. then they will come for our 2nd amendment. then more terror will sweep america alongside promises of protection from the terrorist. just give up more of your freedom they will say. the war will continue and spread to korea no matter who they choose to be our leader. there will be a civil rebelian in this country a great push for our freedom . but the push for freedom will be thwarted by the architects creed, divide and conquer.
they will divide the ethnicities in this country and play them against each other giving way to a great confusion. our cry for freedom will be lost through the kaos that shall dilute our cause. our patriots will be labeled terrorist… we will not see it coming.. they will reveal their true technological capabilities. a friend of mine who has worked for the government in fields such as phototechnology, satellite and laser technology, once said ” the technology the government poses is like the stuff you see in star wars. ” they will give us plagues, famine, civil war and in the end ultimate subjugation. and we will not even see it comming. perhaps we as people are destined to go through this great tragedy in order to someday unite this world and have it stand together in the light of true peace. thtas what i’d like to think.
