Kansans to vote on gun ownership amendment

Next year, Kansans will vote whether to change the state constitution to guarantee individual gun rights.

Supporters of a resolution that passed the House and Senate say the move is needed in case the U.S. Supreme Court ever decides that the Second Amendment does not protect individual gun ownership. In 2008, the court ruled that the Bill of Rights covers an individual’s right to own firearms.
Before that Supreme Court decision, some lower courts had ruled that the intent of the Second Amendment was to tie the right of gun possession to militia service, such as a state National Guard unit, rather than an individual’s right to own a gun.
Scott Vogel, spokesman for Freedom States Alliance, called the fear that the courts or the current presidential administration might take away people’s guns “a phantom issue” and said lawmakers would have been better off focusing on more pressing issues.

You need to clarify that not lonly gun ownership rights are guaranteed, but availability of ammo as well. With the forced servitude nazi’s on the way, we nee dto be able to defend ourselves and our families.

I personally believe that a good form of support would include all concerned guns owners in the state of Kansas. They should meet on the day of the vote, surround the courthouse, and proudly display their firearms. Talk about powerful suggestions… That would bring the vote home.

I think the state of Pennsylvania has one of the best constitutions anywhere. Consider just these two sections alone:
Right to Bear Arms
Section 21.
The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.
Standing Army; Military Subordinate to Civil Power
Section 22.
No standing army shall, in time of peace, be kept up without the consent of the Legislature, and the military shall in all cases and at all times be in strict subordination to the civil power.
Any questions? I didn’t think so.

I agree with you but even if I did not also hold to the Christian belief I would consider baby murders and sodomites the worse of the worse.

I have had a post show up and stay up for awile and then dissappear. If you step on the wrong toes they will be deleted. They do not have to have foul language,they just have to be offensive to the wrong folks.
I realise that humans run this site and no human is 100% honest or without flaws so I just don’t let it get next to me because they do run their own game. Say what you will,if some get through then you did some good maybe if it is only venting for your own benefit.

The best way to protect our rights of ownership if we all vote like Kansas votes, that it be done by paper ballot with at least two backup receits that show how everyone votes. If the voting is done electonically, you are guarentteed to lose your rights and guns.

I live in Kansas and we do have a conceal and carry but as in the 2nd Amendment…”the right of PEOPLE to keep and bear ARMS, shall not be infringed”. Conceal and carry is an infringment of the right.

I am not meaning any disrespect or to start an argument but why would one need or want to mount a .22 caliber weapon. Mounting a weapon can limit your field of fire and has it’s uses on weapons above a 60 cal. A bi-pod maybe ? I would think you would want your lite weapons free to move from portal to portal as swiftly as possible.

I am very suspicious of the NRA. I believe Gun Owners of America do us more good. What hasdone except beg for more money to fight for our 2nd amendment rights. Any anti gun legislation is treasonas and should be punishable by sure and instant DEATH. When is the last time been when any of the NRA lawyers have innitiated lawful action in court against those responsible for these anti gun so called laws passed? And the guy who posted above is right-we shouldn’t need anyones permission to carry, it’s our RIGHT. You can bet your sweet ass and your straw hat that if a cop catches you carrying a pistol without a permit, even in plain sight, there’s gonna be trouble in Dodge City. Let’s hear some concrete discussion on this subject.

The very week that Texas adopted it’s “right to carry” law,violent crime started going down and has stayed below what it was prior to the passing of that law. The lives saved because of that law far out numbers the lives lost by both accidental shootings and criminal deaths from guns.
The same number or percent of criminals still carry guns but now they never know just who is armed and ready to defend themselves resulting in a sharp decline in violent crime.
Folks talking on cell-phones while driving and causeing accidents takes more lives than do guns. Doctors and hospitals kill several hundred times more innocent folks than do guns. Should we outlaw hospitals and doctors?

We have the internet,for a nominal fee anyone can get any persons address if you know their name and approx. age. Don’t face them on their terms,pick your time and place. Your chances of survival are greatly increased if you dictate the terms of the action you take.

Excellent Kansas! The intention to submit this individual’s right law is the intention of voting for it. It will be passed and will ascertain the personal right to self-defense. And it will make feds consider Kansas a secessionist state if Washington pretends the Second Amendment does not apply federally. But states have nothing to fear if a majority of them stick to gun rights. To hell with the federal power abuses! They can no longer happen if everyone carries a gun. And stop paying taxes, too, in order to starve Washington financially.

A militia is not Natl. Guard as they are funded through the state and federally. A militia consists of citizens in the state, county, city or even community. To formally call up a militia all you need is names, signatures and a declaration of war or description of why the militia is being called up. Militias are all-volunteer and people can leave when they want. Natl. guard you must serve when called and cant leave whenever.
