Officials say the exercise will be based on a simulated outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease and will be held on October 22.
Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry agents will stop and check traffic on Highway 83 north of Turpin in Oklahoma. A second checkpoint will be at the intersection of Highways 160 and 183 near Sitka, Kansas.
In 2008, an inquiry into the outbreak of foot and mouth disease from a government laboratory in the UK concluded that incompetence and poor facilities were to blame for a leak of the virus. An earlier outbreak of the disease in England was deliberately released by someone who stole a test-tube of the virus from a laboratory in Britain, according to The Sunday Express.
The exercise is not surprisingly funded by the Department of Homeland Security.

My late aunt observed that there are controls for the amount of livestock transported in any certain space, but look at the London trains at rush hour and they pay to get crushed in to carriages. Japan is the best at that one.

It’s the same thing over here, Jeroen, it’s called “civil disobedience”. Essentially you peacefully disobey orders as an act of protest. I don’t think our government cares about civility anymore. They’re doing this test to see if we’ll just comply or avoid it. For those of you in the area I implore you to avoid the interstates and take the back roads, even if it means leaving earlier for work. We need to show them that we do not honor or respect the military performing duties on the homeland in direct conflict with Posse Comitatus. We were warned months ago about this from members of our armed forces that something would happen in Kansas in October and that civil unrest may ensue. You were warned, now act accordingly.

This big biodefense facility is going in at KState at Manhattan, Kansas in a year or so. There will be foot and mouth disease and just about any bad bug you could imagine could be there, really don’t know what all for sure. A few have spoken out about the lunacy of putting these nasty germs in the heart of cattle country, right in the campus of a major Big 12 university, but the love of federal money and state money has kept most of the mouths shut here.

I dont know about Kansas but in Nebraska they’ve upped are evaluations like 40% in the past 10 years. BS about if your farms near the highway its worth more. If your near a town its worth more. you people are all stupid i have wasted the last 20 minutes reading comments about government control and conspiracies, if livestock transportation was not controlled (like fruit, veggies, etc) you would not have anything to eat because even though hoof and mouth disease may not kill you, it kills the animals you rely on for food. to prevent the spread of dangerous viruses someone has to step in and quarantine these sick animals. be glad that your tax dollars are being spent on a practice drill of a situation that may actually happen. 2 years ago several horses in new mexico were infected with a deadly virus. people were urged to not travel with their horses. unfortunately people are stupid and dont listen. several horses in arizona became infected because of an irresponsible person. the infections caused death every time. If the govt. had only stepped in and checked the state borders to prevent infected horses from crossing into az, dozens of horses would not have died and thousands of dollars could have been saved. states determine livestock entry regulatons, its not a conspiracy. its for your own good. stop making a mountain out of a molehill, focus on something that is a real conspiracy.
