We’re celebrating him because he’s black and he’s just been elected president of a country that was in the habit of either hanging or shooting black men with voices not more than 50 years ago.

Forget the fact that we’re all supposed to be equal and we shouldn’t care what colour a person is, rather it’s their deeds that they should be judged on, so I guess it should be the change of heart in a nation being celebrated instead and maybe that’s part of it in peoples’ minds, it’s just a pity that the nation itself won’t get any credit for it and it’ll all go to Obama.

People outside the US are watching to see what happens next, with hope that this new-found inclusive spirit is accompanied by an eyes-open attitude towards more than just the shortcomings of the previous government, but also the present one, not forgetting to scrutinise those who seek to make a living from denouncing it too, your enemy’s enemy isn’t always your friend.

I made the mistake of assuming there was a group of reasoning people posting here. I have just scanned through a random selegtion of around half of the posts on this thread, and I see I was mistaken. The vast majority here, while propounding some radically different viewpoints, are desperately in need of a reality check. Religious doomsayers, RW and LW frothing screamers, extreme paranoid conspiracy theorists — if this is a representative sample of voters, of “educated” adults, of any significant proportion of American society, then this country truly is doomed. Please, people, use your minds and reason things out. Step back and look at your statements neutrally. You’ll be appalled. I certainly am.

While Obama appears a decent person, we must examine how he got propelled into the spotlight so fast. The answer lies with a wealthy family of zionist Jews from Chicago, the Pritzkers. Certainly a stunning piece of legislation. Serrano has introduced the exact same bill SIX OTHER TIMES and it has been killed SIX OTHER TIMES. The fact that Serrano is crazy is not new. There is literally no reason to believe that it’s going to get out of committee this year. This is not a part of any vast conspiracy, unless New York’s 16th district voting record counts as a conspiracy.
